    The Bick 4 is great to use on leather that you don't want to darken by using polish, or mink oil.

    Use a horsehair brush on your boots first to get any loose dirt off and to open up the pores of the leather. Rub the Bick 4 on by hand like lotion and rub it in. Let it dry up some and use the horsehair brush to buff it off. Use a soft cloth to shine them up a little more if you want. Bick 4 is great stuff! Great videos! I appreciate your hard work. Keep it up.

      Do you apply by hand so it doesn't get soaked up by the rag instead?

    • @shawnglass108
      @shawnglass108 5 років тому +2

      Jeremiah Craig, yes sir. It definitely keeps you from wasting any that the rag will absorb. It also makes it faster and easier to apply. Just put it in your hand and rub it in like lotion.

  • @davevalerie6708
    @davevalerie6708 5 років тому +2

    Yes Sir, you are correct about Bick 4 not bringing up a high shine, But it sure does make leather very soft, and supple. You have two choices here, as what I know, which is little. The Bick 4 seems to have no problem with polish....Kiwi, Scout, etc..... Brown Kiwi looks INCREDIBLE if you don't mind a darker boot. Buffs up glossy, and looks killer, until the polish starts to crack. The "Natural" Scout buffs up nice, not as good as the Kiwi, but you will get polish cracks, that look light, after a bit. I like both of them, and the cracking, to me, has a traditional look, aged. Either way, the boot looks damn good.

    • @JeremiahCraig
      @JeremiahCraig  5 років тому

      Truth. I love the brown kiwi look. I've used that on my brown Boulets for years. Great value

    • @nsatoday
      @nsatoday 5 років тому

      Best polish combos I’ve found are Lincoln Stain Wax in the appropriate color for base coat and then a thin buff coat of a softer wax like saphir. You can use kiwi for the buff coat but kiwi is probably one of the lower quality polished available but it does work.

    Good video bro. I normally to a dry brush of the boot first, then apply the Bick 4 by hand like lotion, this ensures that excess conditioner is allowed to dry on the leather and creates a buff-able film. After drying I spend a good amount of time per boot with a brush buff, then I use a dry polish rag if I want more shine. I follow with a wax to get even more shine if desired.

      I disagree. Do not condition the soles. Keep the soles hard and dry. When you condition the soles they become soft and supple and wear down faster. The only shoes I have that have holes in the soles, are the one's that had the soles conditioned.

    Bick 4, followed by a good cream paste and a brush shine is my choice for my boots. Please remember to brush off your boots before conditioning them. Even sitting around they collect dust, and you don't want to introduce grit into the grain during the process.

    I've yet to use Bick 4 myself. But I know it's a great product. I've been using Lexol leather conditioner (spray bottle) on my boots with great results. Like Bick4, Lexol doesn't darken the leather- which is why I love it. I also use a rag for application, then buff with a horsehair brush. I think my 16.9oz bottle of Lexol was only like $6.99.

    • @JeremiahCraig
      @JeremiahCraig  5 років тому

      For black, and really dark leather that you plan on polishing go with huberd’s shoe oil or grease. You could also use obenaufs but I’ve found if you use it liberally you will have to wait sometimes a few days before the boot drys enough for polish to stick properly. For something in the light to medium browns Chelsea leather food is great. For really light colored stuff Number 4 or saphir renovator (Medal D’or version) will do a good job and not darken
