    Pro tip #4: have a career as a symphonic musician. I used to do short sprints or sets of stairs to get the physical feeling of performance nerves in the practice room. That let me learn to not focus on the physical side of nerves and to concentrate on mental focus. Elevated heart and respiration rate, dry mouth and perspiration don’t actually get in the way of performance if you just accept them as being there. Doing extra races makes sense in that way. As a masters athlete (old man) I can’t go every weekend, but doing a few races in a season before trying for a PR has been my pattern since I started about 3 years ago.

    I have a race in 5 days and was just ARRESTED by fear. Now I know what it is and how to use it to my advantage. Thank you!

    I disagree.
    When I first started and was nervous I had my worst races.
    When i finally stopped being nervous I felt so relaxed it was scary I had my best race.
    Because I believed in my training I put in I had no regrets.
    So I think everyone is different.
    Less nervous and anxiety actually better for me

      "My personal experience is why I disagree with the field of sports psychology" is just not a valid position to take.

    New runner here, trying to get good at endure, and I have a question. When I get tired, should I just start walking until I feel like I can run again? Building up endurance is tough. I’ve seen your video on it and will try it out. But I can’t stay running during long runs, so idk if I should walk when I get tired.

      My tip is long slow miles, Prince. Don't think about speed at all in the beginning. Just accumulate a lot of time on the road and your endurance will be improved faster and EASYER than you think. You should feel fine after the run and able to do it the next day. You should choose a speed slow enough that you don't need to walk at any point.

      I’ve been having that recently what did u do to solve it

      @snakey973 2 роки тому

      @@luke8279 you have to try to get out of your head before races- it takes a lot of practice. Eat only bland foods and water, and if you do throw up- liquid IV (walmart has it), sip it and sugar of some kind- hard candy cant be thrown up but puts sugar in your body

    hey I do 1 mile run by myself and no anxiety but then I do 1 mile race boom lots of anxiety , anyone can tell me why its like that for me?

      Don't worry, it's like that for almost everyone. The only difference between you running by yourself at your own pace vs you running faster at a mile is competition. Everyone wants to win, so it is natural to become competitive and feel nervous because adrenaline is rushing through your body at that time.
