  • A quick guide on how I clean my oil jet, it was blocked which explains the notchy gear shift that developed. Picture guide linked below:
    ktm950.info/how...
    The guide above shows the process, with clear pics of the area. Hopefully this helps anyone who is thinking about doing this job.
    If you're interested in the Oberon slave cylinder the part number is CLU-0121 - You can buy one here ebay.us/tUSQAd

    Thanks for doing this vid, really helpful. I'm about to try this on my SMT. Finding neutral also difficult. A vid like this is so much easier than following a printed manual.

    Thanks for the video. Q-tip worked really well. After a test ride i did notice improvement in less notchy shifting. What's interesting though is that i hit a false neutral two times. That hadn't happened before. But overall shifting feels better!

      Glad it helped out. I hit a false neutral sometimes if I don't shift fully, I think the dog doesn't engage fully and then spins back. I need to give mine a clean again. Cheers.

    Hey mate i found the easiest way to get the jet out is by using any old household vacuum cleaner(Hoover) and simply tape some small diameter tube to the end of the hose and it picks it straight out for you. You don't need an airtight seal for it to work either.

    Good informative video, but I couldn't see what you were doing. Very dark. Perhaps next time shine a light and put your camera on tripod. Thanks

      Totally agree, hard to see what’s happening. Garage has been refurbed now so has a lot better lighting which would have helped

    Thank you for doing this! I've been have a problem finding neutral on my 2015 Super Duke r. Researched around on-line and the consensus was a clogged oil jet. Mine was definitely clogged. I used some brake cleaner and fishing string to clean it out. Crazy how small the hole is. Seems like they (KTM) could have engineered a better way to oil the transmission mainshaft besides some tiny hole that is going to get clogged....but WTF do I know...:). Time for a test ride..thanks!

      No problem at all! Hope it works 🙂 I agree it’s not the best design haha

    I've done this ONCE to my 2010 SMT - it came out perfectly clean, so I've not done it since (~5yrs ago). no clutch/shifting issues at all and neutral is easy to find..
    Very poor design IMO - it could have been done MUCH better from a service POV !

    What size of jet oil do you have inside? Because my clutch is bloody hard, i have to fight to get it back into neutral.

    • @buaan
      @buaan  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply. I've the stock jet in there (0.30 mm), I bought a 0.5mm one (I think) in the past and that made finding neutral a lot harder. You might find that someone has drilled yours out or fitted a 0.5 jet?

    when we get this out jet do we put oil in when we finish cleaning? we leave it alone and is it ok? what oil do we put if it needs additional oil?

    • @buaan
      @buaan  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, no need to add any oil in to the jet, just remove it, ensure the little hole in the jet is clear and then reinstall.

    Do you have to drain the oil before removing the jet?

      No need to drain oil, no oil is lost during the cleaning.
