So now the green card is more important than being with the person that you love??? I care less about when my fiancee will get the green card, the most important is that we are together faster. So K1 for me.
We went the I-130 way just before the March 2020 lockdown and USCIS approved it by August 2020 and got the final documents ready for NVC by October 2020 where they sent it to US Embassy in her country. We waited until March 2021 before I went to the USCIS website to request for a status since there was no confirmation the Embassy even received it.
Two weeks after that “request” I received an update from the Embassy to schedule her interview in April. She got approved and they said they will send her Visa and Passport to her home address in about 3 weeks. May comes up and nothing so I used the NVC email address and requested for another status. Two weeks after that she received the Visa and her Passport in the mail. She’s now living with me and it took about 3 months before her Conditional Greencard to come in the mail. We are still waiting for her SSN. Might be time to email again… All I’m saying is if you are waiting for a long time for them, try using the online form or email them asking for a status.

I really appreciate the clarity with which the message is delivered! Although there's a couple points that need to be addressed: I believe that marriages in some countries, is not legally recognized in the United States.
Marriage in some other countries is legally recognized in the United States but the legal fees associated with getting married can be more difficult and expensive than getting married in the United States.
Also, after getting married in the United States a foreign spouse must wait many months to receive their green card, and thus be permitted to work.
They can apply for an employment authorization document, but that can take just as long to receive as receiving the actual green card itself.

I applied I-130 sibling visa in 2007 - 2008. I haven’t heard anything from them. Approval letters came in 2010 for my two siblings. The status on the website for my one sibling is showing it’s approved and other sibling’s status shows that they are waiting for prove of evidence. I never got any letter from them. Please help. I have heard that people stay separated even having ViSAs because they are afraid that the process will not be approved or something. Of course we care about the green card to be approved but ~1.5 years separated after marriage is a bit too much, when you married is for love so you want to be with that person

I'm not sure if the marriage visa is faster at getting a green card like you said due to the fact that you need to be married first. In some countries, getting married to a foreigner involves a lot of steps, which can be difficult, plus the language barrier... the US citizen needs to go to the foreign country, get married and get documents from the foreign country to prove their marriage coupled with the processing time of an I-130, I don't know if it's faster. You should also discuss the costs. I know a lot of my people goes to Laos to get a child bride. 100% uses the K-1 visa unless it's denied in which case, they then refile using the marriage visa. From my understand, the success rate of a marriage visa is much higher than a k-1 visa but a marriage visa is more expensive and takes longer that's why most use the k-1 visa first.
I know all cases are different but I file a l-130 for my husband since 2016 and a few month later he got approved but we’re still waiting for the green card ,we have been waiting for five years now

Last Year, August 2022 I filed form I-129F...My fiance was in Colombia at the time. Since she couldn't come here I stayed down there. Now we married in Colombia, but I am considered single still in USA. JUST TODAY I received a approval letter for her I-129F. We already applied for the I-130 in Sept 2021. Nothing is happening. I'm disabled and I really need my husband home with me. I've spent half of last year in Colombia and now this year in Ecuador, soon we have to go back to Colombia. I want to go home but I don't want to be seperated from my husband, plus I have issues back home where I need his help or I can't live well at all. She wants to get married over there but I want to do a small ceremony there and then do an official wedding in the USA. Being a citizen my whole life, which is the fastest and cheapest visa to help get her here? Only US citizens can file K1 visa for foreign based spouse.
If you are green card holder - you cannot file K1. Period!
However, if you go for your wedding, return to back to US, you can file a petition for her. If everything goes well, her visa category is called F2A
