Hey friends! Think of this video as your complete Google Tasks tutorial. Do you use Google Tasks? What are your favorite features? Let everyone know in the comments below.
I need to know how to print the task list - all of the videos out there are outdated - can't figure out how to do it on the latest update. This would be helpful. Thanks,
Tasia....could you please do me a huge favor and look at my question from yesterday? I'm a daily user of Tasks....and this would make it a lot easier for me.
Thanks so much. This prompted me to start using Tasks and get rid of a half dozen pieces of paper with task lists on them. Now my tasks are organized. You do a fantastic job of teaching!👍👍👍👍
Ditto! I've just had my Aha! moment to. I put off learning this for so long when it could've really helped my productivity. Thanks Tasia, that was a wonderfully succinct & still relevant presentation.
Good presentation. Google Tasks has a glaring omission, the ability to search for a task(s). This searching omission affects the PC and our Android Mobile app; Tasks cannot be searched. The ability to search within Task is particularly important, especially as one uses Tasks to become more organized and work on more projects.
@@JamesMcNeillmcneilmortgages It is James. But @ricdonato4328 is right there is no search functionality in google task. Well, I thought the same but I found the task search in my web and desktop client but not in Android app. So yes, it can be a deal breaker to use the google tasks as our primary task manager. Because if there is no search functionality in task you cant find your selected task and can create lots of duplicate tasks by mistake. This is a big omission by google.
Agreed. That's a terrible omission. Maddeningly, they do the same thing on UA-cam (for instance, no way to search playlists) and other Google services as well.
@@paulkohler6816 absolutely correct. There is no search function to search for playlist. I don't know how it happened, but it surely is not the capability issue its an omission. Thanks for pointing it out.
The feature I like the most is the fact that it integrates with google calendar and I can view the time-specific tasks on calendar. I also like the fact that I can drag tasks unto a calendar slot to set a time for the task on desktop. 2 things I don't like and would love to see added: I wish I can see tasks due today in a separate smart 'today' list, even if the tasks belong to different lists. I know this shows in calendar at the top as all day tasks. But on calendar, I'm not able to sort them in the order I would like to execute. Second, I would love task to have the same colour coding capability that calendar has. When my tasks show on calendar, I want to be able to colour code the lists they belong to.
You convinced me to stay with Google task. I am always confused about which time management tool to use but it's in front of me everyday. With Google calendar and tasks I really have all that I need. Thank you for your video. I'll be watching more for more tips.
Thanks, this was very helpful. I was just forced to Google Tasks from Google Reminders and I preferred the simplicity and function of Reminders. I'm not sure why Google felt that they had to turn off Reminders.
Many thanks for this concise/helpful video, Tasia! I just got a new job at a private school... my predecessor had used Outlook for task management... but my work platform is Google Workspace and you helped me see the benefits to decide to just use Google tasks - I don't need any system more complex! Best tip was dragging email to task list : )
Hi Tasia, Google Tasks has been around for a long time. I just took the time today to take a closer look at it and only got to know its full potential through your video. Thanks. This is a really handy tool
Hi, Thank you for this video. Very helpful. Question...Can you assign staff to the Tasks or add staff to the tasks, so they can see the deliverables and mark them as complete?
Excellent video! Is there a way to share tasks or a list, essentially creating a common task list with another account. My wife would love this feature.
For whatever reason I've only been using tasks within Gmail and calendar and somehow never thought to see if there was an app. Funny how we don't consider the simplest of things when trying to stay organized and productive. Anyway, glad I came across your video....thanks!
Great tutorial Tasia, may i ask if there is a way of copying a whole list of project tasks for when a new project begins, without having to type them all back in again?
Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm planning to give Tasks a try this week. I currently use a paper planner system, but everything else in my in the Google ecosystem. I'm excited to try!
Thanks for the video, Tasia. I'm using both Tasks and Reminders but am trying to decide which one I prefer! 🙂 Reminders are quick and easy (especially with Assistant), but Tasks are more flexible (especially with Gmail). Best of the best would be the possibility to create Tasks also with Assistant! ;-)
Hi Tasia! Thank you for all the solid information and tips regards to Google Calendar. I want to start utilizing Google Tasks, but I do not have a Right Toolbar showing on my Google Calendar. How can I add the Right Toolbar that would include Google Tasks/Google Keep, etc?
Thanks, I learned some things. I am still looking to find a way to take my Tasks and import them to my Calendar on another Google account. Do you know if that is even possible. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Is there anything similar to Notion to consolidate everything, notes taking, task, calendar and record keeping and be more productive and motivated?
Tasia, as you know there is the ability to add several task lists. Home, Work, Car etc. However I can't seem to find a view that shows all of the tasks on all of the lists in one view. Also the default view seems to be the list at the top. I have found that if I place items in a list below the main list then I forget about them as they are not on the first screen and I would have to remember that I have other lists. I guess ADD...Wishing I could see ALL of my tasks at one time.
Great tutorial, thanks! But a I miss the reminder-feature so you can receive an reminder before a specific deadline. Therefor I stick to Microsoft To Do.
Hi Tasia, great video and I learned a lot about Google Tasks. The thing I am trying to figure out is, I have a b&b and have a "task list" for each room. This list I thick off while I am cleaning.. so all tasks will be gone by the time the room is clean/ready.. next time I need the same list.. but this will not be daily. It will be a repeat when guests check out and I do a full clean.. how would I be able to do that?? Any thoughts?
If I share a Google calendar with my spouse, will tasks I've added via my account also show up on his calendar? Is there a way to assign tasks you've created to other people?
I use Google tasks all the time. The simplicity is fine for me. I use the apps since I'm almost always on my iPad. I have multiple task lists, one for each day of the week for specific things I need to do on that day and I have the days of the week out of order and I see no way to manually recorder the tasks lists, not the tasks themselves.
Great and very helpful tutorial. Thinking to start using Tasks. As my feedback - music was really too loud, interfering with the voice and distracting attention. I would rather watch / listen to this tutorial without music. Best!
I rather reminders because you can change the repetition of the reminder. E.g. if you repeat a reminder weekly and you change it, it will change all the reminders but task, the repeated reminders will stay
A task app for a family isn't much use without being accessible by both parents. Maybe even the older kids. Is there any facility for sharing task lists within a family e.g. can my wife and I share task lists?
Tasia....great video. I'm familiar with Google Tasks and have been using it for some time. Question....can you add a task WITHOUT a checkbox? What I'm looking to do is add a task titled TO DO TODAY.....then add subtasks underneath with the checkboxes. Same thing for THIS WEEK....THIS MONTH, etc. I'm not sure it's possible. I've been using Google Keep for that but would like to keep it all in Tasks.
Hey Burt. You can create sub tasks for this. There would still be a checkbox but it wouldn’t get completed until all your subs tasks are complete. You could also create a new task list titled TO DO TODAY and then add all your tasks in there.
I *much* prefer Reminders, my use case is tasks that can roll daily and I finish them whenever I have time. I manage this all only through GCal. Raise date is not important, nor a specific deadline. Pain points for tasks: - Clutters my view as tasks appear on the day I add them and not one list on the current day like Reminders - Completing a task closes it on the day I raised it, not the day I completed it like Reminders - Tasks over 30 days overdue essentially disappear, and you have to hunt back for the day you raised them Any way to fix these?
Now that Google seems to be merging Reminders and Tasks - will there be a "Hey Google" voice command that can set actual Google Tasks just using voice activation from my phone?
Hi Tasia, could you help me with why I cannot see the option for adding a time or whether it repeats or not in Google Tasks. I only see Today, Tomorrow or next week and the calendar (month below it). No option I can find to select a time??
I have a question? is it possible to share a google task list with someone from google tasks? so that I can share it with someone who only sees the information and cannot change anything?

I started using Google Tasks about a month ago. I love the app and it’s simplicity. Works well as my reminders app.
you are my No1 tech teacher, short, sharp tutorials. Learnt so much from you......
Hope they can add an Auto "ALL List" combining all the lists made. Btw, you make great easy to digest videos- Thank you 😊

Google Tasks will send reminders/notifications if you give it a time as well as a date.

Awesome tutorial Tasia. Thanks. I like the simplicity and integration with the other Google tools.
I agree with some of the suggestions by others: have a way to show all tasks together, and have a way to print your separate lists. thanks

Enjoyed the video. Can I sort my list on the mobile app? I can on the laptop, but have not been able to on the mobile app.
