    Day 11 of solo hiking the Coast to Coast, I left Richmond & had a rather sensitive discussion. I carried on through Catterick, Bolton-On-Swale & eventually to Danby Wiske.
    Not my intended stop for the night, I met five other hikers all walking the C2C (two groups of two and one other solo female hiker!) and they convinced me to camp at Church Holme in Danby Wiske for the night (instead of the campsite I had in mind which would actually be 4-5 miles off route), and I'm so glad that I did.
    There, I got to know some wonderful people & share stories over some amazing food and drinks. It completely uplifted me and drove me to complete the hike in the next few days, which I so needed after the tough couple days prior on the trail.
    Thank you Peter, Steven, Gonnie, Bert & Marie for such a lovely & wholesome night.

    Oh Jennifer, it was so nice meeting you and have dinner with you. (Sorry I ate almost all of your vegetables ;) ) I remember the Australian lady you mentioned. I wrote this on mij Facebook page on that evenening:
    After the photo was taken, Marie also wanted one with her camera. "and then one with my device", shouted Bert "and then with Peter's...".
    The lady who took the photo said: wait, are you Dutch? Yes, that's right, how do you know? “Well, they make jokes like that,” she said
    She turned out to be an Australian with Dutch parents and enjoyed speaking some Dutch with us.
    Haha, I love this ❤

    There was no camping at Danby Wisk when I did the hike so we camped behind the Blue Boar Pub (with the landlords consent), oh what a steep climb from Danby Wisk onto the Yorkshire Moors. Happy Memories. Tony in England.

    Hairy coos! Lovely beasties. And thanks again for talking openly and honestly about your struggles. I'm sure it's a cathartic experience for you, as well as a reminder to others to not let things fester without talking to someone.

      It really is cathartic. And as a person who has experienced an open narrative surrounding mental health which seriously helps during the times I'm going through it, I aim to give that back to whoever needs to hear it, to open the narrative around a topic that may be taboo in other people's lives, because it really, really does help.

      Very true. Even of the person you're talking to it about is just a viewer of a youtube channel, the fact that you're able to openly talk about it is a great step forward. *hugs*@@Orenjen

    I'm glad you didn't go back home, your smashing it 🙌. I think some times you just that interaction with people you know or even hang out with other hikers to bring your emotional, physical and mental well-being up as we people love company and being alone is not a natural thing. I'm routing for you all the way to the end 😁.

      Aw thank you! I’m glad I didn’t go back either, I know I would’ve regretted it for sure. Honestly that was the last of it on the trail tbh, as I remember the final few days were amazing!

    Thank you for another lovely video. What said about the room you were in, and that it had a weird vibe. I think it could have been haunted and it was that that trigger your panic attack, it was your strength of character that got you through it.

    Jennifer. Another excellent vlog. You truly makes some of us of the older generation look like armatures 😂. Keep up the great work and keep the vlogs coming. What have you planned for 2024??

      Haha thank you 😁 oh I have loads planned from hiking the Cumbria Way again (I can’t stop thinking about TCW!), and a few in Scotland ideally I’m torn between about 7 😂

    Soo good to see greenery in the depths of winter although Daffodils & Snowdrops are starting to flower down here in Hampshire 🌱
    Yeah I'd do the same; letting the other campsite know is just courteous
    I'm an introvert so I don't get lonely, and so I don't understand what you went through, but it's really good that you're open about it, to help others 🙌

      So excited for Spring! And it’s funny because I definitely consider myself an introvert, so sometimes the desire to be alone & needing company can get muddled up, I’m not really sure. It’s not usually been this bad however, and since doing walks alone after the C2C I’ve generally been totally fine!

    So once you pass UNDER the A1 the route has changed since I did the walk in the late 1970s. We had to follow a road all the way from Bromton on Swale to Ingoldby Arncliff. You get to explore more of the Countryside on the New Route. Tony in Essex

    Don't worry Jennifer, what you were saying in the first half was not at all too negative. In today's world, our minds and emotions are doing so many strange things, it was good to hear you talk about it. It sounds like you are in some way searching for yourself and your way on your hikes, but it is undeniable, you find yourself also, very much, in warm interactions with other kind and loving human beings 😊

      @Orenjen  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much that’s lovely. Good company definitely makes all the difference, it’s strange because I’m usually just fine on my own, something was just different on this trail. Despite the times I felt down, I had so many more positives!

    It’s been a long time since I was in catterick. I was in vimmy barracks ITC on Scotton road late 90’s. I was just a 16yr old soldier then. Hope you’re feeling better.

      Hey. It’s really interesting to me that you had the worst night with uncontrollable tears and feeling extremely upset at the end of the previous day. I think it’s the first video where I haven’t commented. I’m not sure exactly why I didn’t comment, but in your words I wasn’t Vibin with that particular part of the journey. It seemed to be mostly through farm land specifically where they farm sheep and lambs as and cute as they can be the bottom line is the lambs and sheep are in the lambing and mutton farm production and so those farms aren’t the nicest places regarding the vibe they have.You had the farmers or people staring out the window at you as well, and the whole part of that journey was walking through meat producing farms. So maybe not the best vibe could’ve been had in places like that if that makes sense.And then staying in a place that was a little off as you say and eating junk food which is fine but it can sometimes leave me feeling a bit ropey. I can see all of that contributing to your acute sad feelings and emotions.
      So the fact that you carried on the next day is extremely impressive in my book it really is. Bravo 👍👍

    I seemed to have jumped ahead of you in my comments in the last video. I thought you had already passed through Richmond and was on the road to Danby Whisk. I will try to pay more attention to the landmarks and not just admire the scenery. Tony in Essex

      @Orenjen  7 місяців тому

      Oops, It's strange that I refer to him as Steve in the next video but when recently recording the voiceover for this I call him Simon! 😬 On a slightly morbid note, a colleague of mine named Simon passed away around the time I was editing this video so it must've been on my mind or something. I'll make sure to rectify it for when I eventually release my full length video of the trail.

    Jeez cut yourself some slack Tiny Pine. I think you're doing brilliantly. Doing such an epic trek by yourself and spending long days where your only company is sheep and cows would take their toll on anyone. You are putting yourself through a fairly extreme undertaking. Even miitary special forces won't trek so far by themselves. Maybe try and find a friend to go with next time or increase the budget and indulge in some 5 star luxury at the end of the day instead of spending time alone in a tent.

      Thank you that’s lovely, yeah I do often treat myself to a B&B or hotel every now and then, it’s just expensive if I constantly do it, and I do enjoy camping out, I was just struggling a bit more on this trip mentally than I normally would on a hike.
