You did it: we are already have the best Elemental HEROs, Destiny HEROs, Evil HEROs, Vision HEROs and now the Masked HEROs. Jaden must be proud of you.
Time for HERO facts: In the GX manga, Judai(Jaden) starts with the Elemental HERO deck that used to belong to his teacher and inspiration. Afterwards, he felt that he should make a deck that he could properly call his own deck, his own creation. Then, he designed the Masked HERO archetype as a way to fix some failures from the Elemental HERO playstyle while maintaining the core idea of the deck. That's the reason why in Duel Links, Masked HERO Blast is a level up reward from Jaden Yubel P.S: The design of Masked HEROs is inspired by Kamen Rider, just like Inzektors
Another fun fact: The Masked heroes were both a main and extra deck archetype, but the main deck cards outside of the spells were never printed at the time of writing this.
Interesting fact: If you attack directly with anki and then chain a forbidden chalice in the damage step you gain 400 atk and the attack still goes through and the effect to halve the damage is negated
It was a semi popular strategy during 5Ds. Not seen often but always got attention when it was used. Friendly reminder that the omni-heroes and masked heroes were never out during the GX era as they were manga cards and those tend to take their time to see a real life printing.
So basically what Masked HERO (or HERO in general) needs are: - A LIGHT Main Deck Monster that you could gain benefits from it if it hits the field, so you could play Koga AND maybe even make it so Contrast HERO is viable - A Masked HERO (or main deck HERO) THAT SOMEHOW Grants protection to your HERO monsters ???
@Rastalov I'm not sure card advantage is where they need to go. There's quite a bit of value they can get from the graveyard etc. and there's so many searchers some decks aren't even playing all the searchers anymore. A elemental light hero is probably the obvious one but I think vision heros could use another card and I wonder if you could fit a light type there even though it's usually all darks. Something that allows you to play through handtraps better probably since you are still sort of vulnerable if you don't get your starter going.

"If they could change Dark Law from a Normal Monster into the BEST Masked Hero, surely they can create a whole bunch of busted main deck Masked Hero!" Change my mind
What they COULD do to rein that in is print Masked HERO Ray, which was a Level 4 LIGHT Normal monster with 1800 ATK and 200 DEF. Do you think being just a good ATK value Normal monster would balance out how much it could be used in combination with other cards, or would that render it unplayable? Alternatively, they could give it a _decent_ but not _broken_ effect in order to offset how much it would open up plays.
@@BloodrealmX That main deck Masked HERO Ray would only need an effect that gives you a reason to put on field and it would still be played because it would make Contrast easier (you would need to get only 1 single masked hero from extra deck to summon contrast), and make Koga useful

I really don’t know if I totally agree with the claim dark law carries the entire archtype and is 100% the best HERO monster. He and Plasma are probably the best going first monsters heroes have but not sure if dark law is best overall.
Well here's the question then: who would you have above Dark Law? In terms of ease of summon, splashability in non-Hero decks, an amazing lockdown effect, while still being decently strong in battle and even having a cool design, Dark Law is objectively one of the best Hero monsters and Fusion monsters in the game. Other cards may do other things better or may have bigger numbers, but either don't have the ease of summoning and general relevance to how the game itself is played to undermine Dark Law's value.
@@Mrryn I think with it's release in the OCG Destiny HERO Destroy Phoenix Enforcer at the very least could be argued as unlike Dark Law it actually is currently seeing play in non-hero decks that are doing well in the OCG and even is getting 3 fusion destiny's to be played in a Destiny HERO package.
@@U1TR4F0RCE I feel like playing D-Heroes and not running multiples of Fusion Destiny is pretty troll tbh. And sure, the new Phoenix Enforcer retrain can be arguable but that's just it: it's new. Not to mention much of its utility still requires a Hero engine in non-Hero decks to even run him, is reliant on combo pieces with other Hero cards, and it's more on Fusion Destiny being an amazing fusion spell than anything. Dark Law stands on his own and can and has been run in decks that run no other Hero cards at all and just requires the Change spell and a Dark attribute. Plus Dark Law is a far more hard lockdown on virtually every deck compared to the field control DPE has.
@@Mrryn It's great and all that in theory he stands on his own but does that really matter if it's been 3 years since it's been in anything other then a Regional outside of heroes when topping. With the most recent top at all being 16th place in a Gren Maju deck for the Hollywood Florida Regional. LLDS Nelson in July 2018 had a Noble Knight deck with a Shadowmist and Mask change package with Dark law. that came in second. The last YCS level event where we saw Masked Hero Dark Law was WCQ Basingstoke in Feb 2017 with a 50 card PK Fire with dark law. Looking at it, it seems like it's been probably at least 3 years since Dark Law Stands on it's own and other negates, destruction effects or bodies are needed for it to be okay.

How about a best "engine" cards list next? cards that can play well no matter what deck they're in. That'd be pretty cool
So aleister. Lol
@@MEGASTRIX Y e s. And others like it, since i'm curious if there's other cards like it that just works so well with other decks
@@valtaroy3546 there are so many engines so it might make good list.
Lol, I've just noticed how Dian and Hero Solid are very similar in their artwork ... almost like if they were connected
People used to run mask change 2nd in dark decks just to get out darklaw for free, but it was generally not viable since you had to discard for it.
Honestly never knew that dark law was played in multiple non-hero decks. That was genuinely surprising to me.
I think there was an editing error on the Dian part. Where the fire level 6 was meant to be shown. Or am I just wrong?
Throwing in the usual suggestions.
Top 10 Tuner Synchro monsters
Accel Synchro monsters (ones that need all materials to be synchro monsters)
Goblin cards
Sphinx cards
Level 4 Normal monsters with 2K ATK (This one is just to see if you can even make a Top X list at all with that criteria.)
Man. Dark Law is so powerful, he should´ve been named Masked Hero-I AM THE LAW instead.
Isolde into Shadow Mist/Dark Law is also really nasty and splashable into any warrior deck.

You say Koga has a terrible effect, yet you put it the tenth spot, and described it as a perfectly functional card that mainly just needs a bit of better support for it to take off again. How many makes HERO cards are there anyway?
he put the wrong card, its supposed to be "Goka", a fire attribute Masked HERO
So, if the Masks have been carrying the entire archtype, why haven't I been able to find anything about the Mask Change cards being reprinted since their original release?
