@@thediaz07He actually is for the most part. Id bet money if he made a couple 2 hour films if not both at least one would have a cult following. Hes already won awards for his short film The Chair. Ive also admittingly seen a couple small ideas and things he has used from influence but hes a master at putting a fresh spin on it. The Chair was amazing. Add an hour he would have won an Oscar pushing aside the best of them.
I think both can touch on something deep. They both come from the same place. Both of them utilize chaos, comedy sheds light on chaos in a way that is positive and revealing of how it works, whereas horror seems to add more to its mystery and lack of controlability. They also both take creativity
Agreed. Comedy and horror seems to have many thing in common! That's why a-lot of creatives are good at both! Best example i can think of if Jordan peele!
Jordan Peele said that the only difference between comedy and horror is the music put behind it and that's why he makes horror now, i think that shows in videos like this which are so masterfully done by people who normally make comedic sketches
There's often a thin line between great horror and great comedy. Think of the most memorable scenes from the Exorcist- they're almost comedically absurd in the same breadth that they're deeply unsettling. The same can be said for films such as The Shining, Hereditary, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. When viewed in a slightly different light, many of the most iconic moments in horror are diabolically funny.
I want to watch everything Curry Barker makes now. I watched this and previously the chair and I'm hooked. I love the style and vibe. Definitely my kind of horror.
1:19 and 1:23 appears a face (the same face as the one in the final I think) inside the closet that wasn't there in the previous shot! (1:10) Hidden details, I love it!
These guys remind me of key and peele; two remarkably talented writers/actors, who can somehow create both compelling horror stories, and sharp comedy sketches. Curry in particular is just ridiculously strong as an actor for no reason whatsoever. I love it
I can’t believe how incredibly you guys put together horror shorts. This is insane. The fact this still hasn’t even hit 1k likes yet because it’s not being noticed. Please never stop. Both your comedy and horror is catered perfectly for my two primary tastes. I just found your horror stuff tonight after seeing all the comedy shorts for so long. You guys are my favorite now 100%
Dude.. this had me grinding my teeth. Absolutely we’ll done! I just got done watching The Chair and found this one. Going to go binge all of your stuff now. Keep up the hard work!!
The themes of death, loss, pain and fear with just that hint of imposter syndrome. Hauntingly beautiful. Your films explore the soul and I see it. Thank you!
I swear I'm obsessed with your horror short films! They're so well done. It has been a long time since I've felt this much discomfort just from a scene and you offer a lot of discomfort! The acting, the way you shoot it, the intonations and the lighting! It all fits perfectly! Thank you!
How is this channel going to go from making me consistently laugh to making me SCARED, OR ANGRY, OR SAD, JUST LIKE THAT?!?? You have no right!!! No right!!! Lol keep up the good work.
dude... this was so creative! I love how even the mom emoji changed throughout. Soooo good and sooo creepy! Just discovered this channel after watching Milk & Serial which was incredible so I had to see what else the channel had to offer. From what I've seen so far, amazing! I'm a huge horror fan and especially a huge found footage horror fan. I will be subscribing to the channel and following all of Curry Barker's work. Awesome!
unbelievable - it's like somebody actually took a minute to ask themselves what conditions lead to feeling scared and then made a video around that. Somebody should call hollywood.
Man this whole movie had my heart racing. Damn that was super suspenseful! I LOvED it. You have a talent that truly stands out. I hope you continue such work and fine tune your talent bc you have the potential to create some unforgettable MASTERPIECES. And I’m not exaggerating. Im glad I found your channel. 😊
Wow.... Ive never watched a shortfilm until I saw "The Chair " and wanted to see more of what the director had in their portfolio. I want to be in one of your films just to be directed by your genius! Bravo!
Man, your works are amazing and all, but seriously dude, I thought it would be short horror - and this turned out to be very emotional and sad one. Masterpiece, as always - but now I'm kinda sad
Jesus mate. That made me extremely uneasy. That was freaking awesome. Just watched Warnings and then this, I was already a fan of your guys comedy but after this youve got a fan for life.
Ive gotten the deeper meaning to his other films but im still trying to figure this one out, I realised he was hearing himself like a loop almost in the beginning and you can see the face in the background from the ending shot. Either way I always enjoy this channels short films and skits
This genuinely creeped me out, mainly cause so many elements reminded me of my experiences with sleep paralysis (e.g. the music starting up suddenly from another room, something appearing at my door posing as a loved one... I do not look forward going to sleep tonight lol)
i suppose shining a ray of hope for the protagonist and then taking it away the next instant is a predictable technique of curry barker. i, like the majority, watched "the chair" first and in that short when dead man Franklin is shown in the bedroom, Julie supposedly sees him too and starts screaming which offers a false sense of safety and comfort to Reese in the fact that he is not experiencing the horror alone but immediately and abruptly Julie stops, smiles at Reese and falls back to sleep, snatching that sense of validation of the horror from the protag as well as the audience by implicating that she is not a victim of the horror too but instead, a part of it. The same thing happens here, which I actually foresaw and hence used the word predictable in the beginning of this comment, when the protag's mom called him and said "i died", pulling the carpet of the miniscule sense of safety from under the feet of the protag and the audience.
I almost couldnt watch this one. When the camera was focused on Seth there was a sound off to his left that made me feel SUUPER on edge. Sheeesh, good work.
5:00 I think you got Einstein a little cross right there my guys, I think you meant time would be relative there. I've watched all Curry Barker's works and I am confident to say that if he make full 2 hour movie he's going to be a legend

I suppose comedy and horror share the quality of the unexpected. Is that why some people are so good at both?

The way the Bitmoji changed its expression to worried/scared was probably one of the creepiest things to me.
How the mom shut the door before that really creeped me out for some reason.
And how when she called him and said she was dead the bitmoji looked like it was dead
