    For a man who wants to grow, to work on himself, it is necesarry to have a humble pie every once in a while and it is healing to expose ourselves, our weaknesses and mistakes. I think you're doing a very good work. My respect. Godspeed.

    It's usually helpful in every stress situation if you slow down a little bit, find your own little bit slower pace or make planned pause after each major steps completed or before each major steps ahead. You transparency is priceless. Congrats and a big thumbs up, man. Keep on the good work and stay safe, man.

    I love that you’re posting this stuff. I like to see the gritty, real side of things where people aren’t pretending they always do things perfectly. I also love that you are covering higher level material with the channel.

    good video man, nice that u have no rush timing on reassessment, in Singapore IRATA L3 reassessment test every each rescue need to finish within 8 to 10 minutes, more than that we fail and retraining again

    I have not been a lvl 3 as long as you but every time I have to do my assessment I always get so nervous.

      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому +3

      Every one I know gets nervous. Me too. It is a fact if we make one error we might fail. For me it is not about a doubt in ability but just that fact that one lapse of attention. But up till now those nerves have enabled me to stay extra sharp on assessment day ;-)

    Very good video... Very good self-assessment.... The fact of accepting and commenting that some factors in terms of maneuver or technique were unnecessary or confusing, implies that you have a very good level of understanding, a good judgment, acceptance and humility as a person and as a rope access professional. Thanks for your videos

    Great to see your humble attitude play out here. Most people would not be able to check their ego and put this on UA-cam so I commend you for that! I've done my L3 5x now (4 resits) and I know I'm far from perfect! Well done!

    This was a very insightful start of the day. First exercise on one POA and on the second exercise I got a bit confused on what to do. Have you ever had training days like this??

    Watched so many of these that I swear I'm triggered at the lack of (gonna murder the spelling....sorry) Industrial Klimmen (Industrial Climbing I'm guessing)) sponsor plug 😂 the mixups just prove you're human. I could follow most of what you were doing Upto the retrieval anchors as my head was expecting a pull through aid climb (horizontal travel with retrievals of previous - mostly butterflies? Probably not the right terminology but it makes sense to me. 😅)
    Keep up the great work, I have no need of IRATA/SPRAT/GWO but damnnit I'm seriously thinking of giving it a try, just because 😂

    Great video, showing weak moments to the world shows your strength. Tough guy. Makes a lot of people worrying less I think.
    I didn't get the difference of the pull through was you mentioned in the video in compare of the commeon way to do that. So what were taught to do else?

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому +1

      Thank you :-)
      The pull through in it self wasn't different. It was more the way to think about it when rigging it. How to explain it and prevent people doing it wrong. For me it was a different way to think about it

    Hey Alex,
    Great video, good to see you also make a mistake once every now and again :P
    I have a question though, why do you lower into your clutch to decent when you are allready in your decender?
    Cheers, Wessel

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому +1

      We are only human ;-). We live and learn!
      The task was come down on the pull through. With all the ropes so close together it might be hard to see. But I transition from the megawatt on the fixed ropes I ascended on, to the Clutch on the pull through ropes. A very small rope to rope transfer. And easier than getting into croll and then changeover again.

    I love your Videos, thanks a lot :) Maybe you can help me by one question:
    When you work above, you often use simple lanyards without energy absorbers to secure yourself. In a holding system without the risk of falling, I would do it that way too. But you often work on the edge with the risk of falling, don't you need lanyards with an energy absorber? The only exception that I know of is if the fall factor is below 0.3, does that also apply to you?
    I would be very happy to hear your opinion, as this is something that always bothers me.
    Update: After watching several of your videos, I noticed that you apply the rule that a connection without a shock absorber is possible if the fall factor is less than 1, correct? Then that is a big difference from what FISAT teaches. There, a shock absorber must be used if the fall factor is more than 0.3. In practice, in almost all cases where you use your non-length-adjustable lanyard. (For example, when traversing or securing to a lifeline, FISAT prescribes a lanyard with a shock absorber (because the fall factor is usually >0.3) I hope you understand what I mean.
    If that is true, that would be a big (safety) difference between FISAT and IRATA?!? Maybe a separate video? I would be happy to hear your opinion, regards.

      Could be a great topic. I am not a fan of using FF. A ff1 in a static sling of 60cm is terrible. A FF1 in a 10 mter bungy is fun. In Irata we teach FF1 max for cowstails. prefereably above shoulderheight which would be about FF0.5 I guess.. IN IRATA cowstails are dynamic rope. Is that the same in FISAT? There is a statement somewhere for a Grillon about the FF0.3. WHich makes sense because it is a static rope..
      There is also the theoretical safety and what works in real life... Usually in work restrain no shock absorber and we prevent a fall of the edge. In Fall Arres we need an abosorbre.

    I have seen this while diving, someone becoming so task fixated ( taking photos) that they forgot the most important part, that they were diving! Humans are not capable of multi tasking.👍

      That is the Cresto Rocker (or Locker) a camming back up device. Multiple companies make a similar one.

    Just a question, as someone who has done a few L3 assessments, do you also find that it has become 'easier"? The reason I'm asking is that over the years, I've been reassessed by different assessors, and found that they don't "gun" the old boys anymore.

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому

      I think you are right the standard has been lowered a bit. And because of three things.
      1)No more breaking into a tight line and
      2) I think the short link got easier too. One more carabiner to use so a bit more room to play. (not sure though)
      3) I do think that most "modern" assessors try to give everyone a fair clean assessment. Tick the boxes. THere is no reason why a fresh L3 should have easier assignments than an experienced L3. We should all be assessed according to the same score sheet. No extreme time limits or crazy near impossible tasks.
      In training push those old dogs hard and show them that they should keep up their skill and don't sit on their fat asses polishing railings for 3 years 😜😜😜. Nah kidding. IRATA made an assessment list and that is what should be tested. Otherwise IRATA should change the list so everyone gets tested the same.

    For your pull through,If you tie a fat alpine butterfly with both ropes together, then you don’t need to add the pulleys because the fat alpine won’t pull through the karabiners

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому

      Good point, or use smaller biners or maillon rapides. Pulleys is just a bit less friction on the way down and points for show 😜
