In this video, I demonstrate 3 repetition strategies I covered in a previous video (see below) that scientific research suggests could help us significantly accelerate our progress in the practice room. These strategies are the 70-85% success strategy, Overlearning, and Interleaved Practice.
NOTE: These studies should be considered strong suggestions rather than definitive rules. Everybody and every situation is different so please use these strategies as starting points and vary them as needed.

This is an excellent lesson! It should have many many more likes than what is shown here. Thank you

MMW: In the not so distant future, all these strategies Diego Alonso is developing and sharing are going to become the standard way teachers will teach learners effective practice.
Which is also something each of us, life-long students of any and all artistic disciplines, even at this point in the 21st century still have to figure out almost by our usually-beginner-ish selves.
Because we're all noobs at figuring out how to practice effectively at some point. To me, it's always been the most time-, and especially brainpower-, consuming part of artistic training.
Wish this knowledge was available 35 years ago, but better late than never. And we all are going to squeeze it for all its worth.
Thanks to you, Diego! O como dijeron los geniales Les Luthiers, "tengo sólo una palabra para vos: mil gracias! Bueno, dos. Dos mil gracias!"

Thanks. I have the added challenge of old hands with bent fingers. So this technique is useful for me but I have to compensate for this. About 40 years ago I suffered with Dupytrends disease.

Thank you for your very interesting videos. I don't understand what the difference is between normal repetition and repetition during overlearning. Or how do I know that I am now doing repetitions of overlearning?

With all due respect, I was very surprised at the financial commitment necessary for your course. I wish you or someone would put this in book format as an alternative to a personal $5k commitment.

Hi Gary! Thank you so much for commenting. Yes, it’s definitely a significant investment ($4800 actually)! The reason for that is because I am significantly involved in teaching directly and indirectly throughout the program length. I’m literally available to support each student 5 days/week.
Because of that, it would be impossible for me to put this in a book format or video form since the main purpose of the program is to give my student direct and regular feedback and teaching.
The best way to think about my program is that it’s aimed at helping students who want to accelerate their progress significantly by receiving regular feedback, teaching, coaching throughout the week. For example, some of my current students originally wanted to take 2 private lessons with me per week but my program ended up being a significantly better deal. I hope this helps!
I’m so grateful that you posted this comment! It helps me see where my communication about the program needs clarity. 🙏🏽

@@DiegoAlonsoMusic Thank you Diego for the thoughtful response, and I hope I didn't come across as being critical. I've watched some of your videos, and your content is very good. I'm personally not at a point in my life where I could justify the cost, but if I were, your course looks well worth it. Best wishes to you!

It was, unfortunately. There were some typos in the chart I made that I had to correct. Bad oversight 😵‍💫
