"This could be the bourbon bargain of the year! Have you tried Wild Turkey's Jimmy Russell 70th Anniversary Bourbon yet? Is it living up to the hype? Share your tasting experiences and let’s discuss why this could be the bourbon steal of the year!"
I got my brother a bottle, and one for myself. I tried his before i opened mine since im not a huge turkey fan, so wasnt sure i was going to like it or not. After trying his, no doubt i was going to be opening mine. Its damn good. Weird. Says the video was posted 10hours ago, but this pinned comment 16 hours ago. How the comment is 6 hrs older than the video is pretty weird haha.
Please make a video on best value generally-available whiskies within each price bracket. (Like $20-$30, or $30-$40, etc.) As for generally-available, check maybe six metropolitan regions (Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Miami), and check if Total Wine (or another major chain that displays stock per-store) has the item available for purchase in at least two different stores in that metroplex, in at least 4 out of the 6 metroplexes. Too often some whiskies become unobtanium, or require you to jump through hoops, or alcohol can't be shipped due to state/local laws. So basically, a list that deliberately excludes all whiskies not generally-available, ranked by bang-for-the-buck. Three whisky recommendations per person. (Heads up blind is optional. Might be fun.) Whiskies recommended are all-time greatest value, not just new releases. And, to keep prices accessible, provide some price recommendations for these products. Like: "*At $30 or under, it's a steal so I'd recommend picking it up if you can. Around $40, it's still good value. At $45 it's priced fairly. At $50 or above, you get better value from other whiskies.*" This disincentivizes scalping or stores from price gouging or manufacturers from raising the price too much. Three price points are needed: bargain price point, fair market price point, skip it price point.
I was able to pick up a bottle at Wild Turkey last Saturday. Jimmy was in the gift shop and signed it for me. He was super friendly taking time to talk with people as he signed.
I just got a bottle today because of your recommendation and taking my first sip now: just like you said, really good. Smooth and complex at the same time. Cheers!
Yes, I caught that too. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find flavors similar to ancho in a bottle of bourbon. Anchos are sweet, earthy and slightly fruity with notes of raisin, prune and tobacco. But they aren’t green
Man it’s a great bottle! I shared some with my grandpa and he loved it. It brought back some old fond memories for him. Great for experienced drinkers and newcomers as well. Fantastic stuff especially for the money.
Happy travels to Oregon, the Whiskey community here is incredible. Westward has a great new space in the newly renovated airport. The Scotch Lodge & Multnomah Whiskey Library are great places to check out if you have extra time!
I am NOT a Wild Turkey fan, not because of anything other than it is what my grandfather had in the cabinet and I considered It to be cheap rotgut. Man did this change my mind. Such a great nose, mouth and finish. It’s a total banger for sure. Cheers to Jimmy!
I love this channel and I love the app I downloaded the app a week or 2 ago and I’m so happy keeping track of my collection and my wish list. Started with 5 then 12 then 16 now 20 bottles. Thank you 🙏
i found 2 bottles at Sam's Club and immediately invited the boys over. we were all EXTREMELY impressed by it. Unbelievable bottle for $50. ill grab one every time i see one for sure.
Got a bottle last week and opened it up last night- love it! Need a backup bottle now. Only wish it would have been released at the distillery last month when we visited so I could have had Jimmy sign it. I did, however, have him sign a barrel head- it was great meeting the Legend!
First and most important, congratulations on the charity drive! As for the Wild Turkey 70th Anniversary, you talked me into it. I just ordered two and I’m also a Wild Turkey fan so looking forward to it. Really like your show.
god bless wild turkey for making AMAZING bourbons for such great prices. i went soooo long not giving it a chance because back before i knew anything about whiskey i tried old crow and for some reason always thought wild turkey was trash on the level of old crow. I've never been more wrong. I've spent double or triple on bourbons that can't hold a candle to 101 or rare breed. thanks for turning me on to wild turkey.
Ready for that Sagamore 9 year old review. I scooped a bottle and thought it was phenomenal. Absolutely love the extra oak on it. Way better than the already great 8 year.
A couple weeks ago I was at my local for a bottle of Buffalo Trace and spotted one of these on the shelf behined the counter. It was $59.99 so I bought it. Glad a did, a great pour. Cheers.
I was hoping you were going to do a review of this bottle. After searching unsuccessfully for several weeks, I finally managed to pick one up a couple of weeks ago. Then, unexpectedly, I was able to get a backup yesterday. It really is a great bottle and I was so happy to see that they didn't give it a $200 price tag.
thx Guys, great review!!! I just purchased at Total Wine store in Myrtle Beach, SC area after watching this video, purchased for $55 less $5 rewards I had so net $50. Cant wait to try in a few days
Fantastic pour, especially for $50! I bunkered 3 of them. The only place I've seen these in Michigan so far is at various Meijer stores - haven't seen it in a liquor store yet.
Guess I’ll pour a Russell’s 10 and watch. Love infusing a stick of vanilla in the 10 year for a few weeks. In laws just brought in green chilis from NM 🍻
Someone needs to teach Trenton about inflation. (11:45) $50 in the "60s & 70s" was NOT a "working man's" bottle of whiskey...since that equates to a $400+ bottle today.
Thank you for all you do and I will love to try some Wild Turkey soon! I called the wine shoppe in Troy Michigan and they already sold out. But they took my number for the next delivery soon!
Good luck, I just got done hunting around Detroit and the only place I found it is asking $130. They can keep it, fortunately I found it in California.
From what ive seen, the 70th anniversary is a blend of 8yr and 9yr barrels from jimmys favorite rickhouses. Also, i think its better when yoy do reivews after the bottles been open for a bit. Makes the review more accurate for what its going to be opposed to the neck pour.
I got it about a month ago on the first run, was spectacular. I finished it a week ago. If they would make that available all the time it would be in my cabinet always.
Dropped last week at our ABC store for 45.00, there are no limits on bottles. I bought 3 bottles, and they're still on the shelf. We were told that they should be relatively available.
I drank WT101 since 78. I saw no need for anything else as it was spot on the best. That faded in the 2000s. I have several bottles of the 70th. It seems a bit softer than the current shelf bottle. I added a splash of RR SiB to the 70th and it took me back to the 90s WT101. One friend said he thought the current shelfer was better than the 70th. Another said he couldn't tell the difference. I don't think the 70th has the 10-14yo juice in it as the original AN8 did. I think they grabbed barrels that were exactly 8yo and dumped them to match current profile. Recently scored a 1983 unopened decanter. Hopefully it's every bit as good as I remember and wasn't subjected to extreme temps.
Just a smooth 101 in my opinion happy I got one and gave it a go but not my favorite for the price point considering I scored a couple 24b stag for 58$ a piece
I have yet to explore WT in my whiskey journey so far and I’m just sooo dying to go buy like four different bottles rn and spend the weekend getting to know some WT!
Wow, that's the lowest I've heard of. It's $43.19 +tax here, but passed on it, for many better options at better price. Got multiple JD BP 129.5P for exact same price. Found a WT 101 dusty $22.50, which is probably as good or better than this. Still Austin BP $42.50
The shelfer is 4-6yo. Old Austin Nichols 8, was 8-14 and comprised of some 10 with larger amounts of 12 and 14yo with 8 being the youngest. I think the 70th is 8 period. Nothing younger, nothing older. At area base exchanges I can get RR SiB that is a shelfer on base and ABC, for a few dollars more. The RR SiB is richer, sweeter, smoother, and proofier. They need to bring back the old AN-8. Then again, money is coming in hand over fist with the RR's and RR barrel pics. The glut is long over, so they have no need to put their best barrels into WT101.
I love that 70th Anniversary Bottle!! I think at that proof and at 8 Year min, it is the best price of 2024!!! Cheers to the "Godfather", Not Grandfather LOL

Randomly walked into my local Bevmo the other night and they had two of them left, snagged one for $60! Excited because it's been hard to find around me

Oh, that's really cool! Nice!
Jimmy is the Best w people. He is the King. We have to protect him at all costs
Hey I was there on Saturday too!
I picked one up a few weeks ago in Tx for $43! For that money I’ll buy it all day. Same with Rare Breed. All day, every day!
For $50, it’s quintessential Wild Turkey. Just really enjoyable stuff. I’m happy they didn’t ask $80+ for it.
Nailed it!
While normal 101 is a blend of 6-8 year old barrels, the anniversary is a blend of 8-9 year old juice.
I just got a bottle today because of your recommendation and taking my first sip now: just like you said, really good. Smooth and complex at the same time. Cheers!
Lol, Ancho Chile is a dried pablano. It's not green when dried. I just found that funny.
Yes, I caught that too. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find flavors similar to ancho in a bottle of bourbon. Anchos are sweet, earthy and slightly fruity with notes of raisin, prune and tobacco.
But they aren’t green

It is in Japan. And for under $30.....damn.....
I love this channel and I love the app I downloaded the app a week or 2 ago and I’m so happy keeping track of my collection and my wish list. Started with 5 then 12 then 16 now 20 bottles. Thank you 🙏
Wondered when this review would come up! I love this bottle and it's made to think Jimmy has been at Wild Turkey for 70 YEARS!
i found 2 bottles at Sam's Club and immediately invited the boys over. we were all EXTREMELY impressed by it. Unbelievable bottle for $50. ill grab one every time i see one for sure.

Congratulations on hitting your goal!!! What an amazing thing y'all are doing for charity
We were able to get ours at Wild Turkey the day of release and have Jimmy Russell sign our bottles. Cool experience.
Wild Turkey never a favorite but agree this is really good. Probably my favorite of the WT products I have tried. Really good value
Just bought 20 raffle. It is a great cause and glad we can help.
god bless wild turkey for making AMAZING bourbons for such great prices. i went soooo long not giving it a chance because back before i knew anything about whiskey i tried old crow and for some reason always thought wild turkey was trash on the level of old crow. You guys expressed my sentiments as well. Love this bottle!
I hope you guys make the goal + more.
They need to bring that 12 year back to the states …. I was just in a Japan a couple months ago and it only cost me 55 bucks to buy there….. delicious
Rare breed. Love the nose. Sooo good. Especially the third dram.
Was able to buy 4 raffle tickets , not much but its what i can do and am happy to help!
I was sipping Russells 13 while Jimmy signed my bottle! Now thats a Wild Turkey Experience.

Love that Kyle left in Trenton's threat at the end lol
I lmao at that part😂😂😂
I tried it and bought a backup right away. Great video, gents. I also bought some tickets. Thank you for giving back!
Guess I’ll pour a Russell’s 10 and watch. Love infusing a stick of vanilla in the 10 year for a few weeks. In laws just brought in green chilis from NM 🍻
Crushable. My bottle was gone in 3 weeks.
Have not delved into WT very much yet, but got a couple of these for $42 here in Chicago, might be getting another two. These would make a great gift!

Always a stash in the center console 😂

Just got a back up to my back up. Love it.
If I find it, it’s a definite buy for me at that price. Can’t wait for the Riley’s livestream. 🎉
I just picked up 2 of these at the distillery today, can’t wait to try it when I get back to Fort McMurray Canada
Got my bottle from distillery and jimmy signed it such a humble guy
Looking forward to this bottle, I love regular 101 and Rare Breed
Been waiting for this review for a week now so I can finally crack mine open while I watch this
I got my 2 cracking this weekend. Let’s go!!!
Hoping to find one. Love the 101.
Great, now I know what I’m doing with my spare time the next few days until I find a few or maybe one.
I've been waiting for this review since this bottle dropped
Bought 2 for myself just sitting on the shelf at my local liquor store. Fair priced juice
I’m a big fan. I think the 70th is great. Huntin for a backup.
wish we could find some new release here in Switzerland ! Love what’s your doing guys
It’s so good. So mad I can’t find another one 🤯
Great review...just snagged a bottle at Spec's here in Texas for $43.19 (they DO give me the case pricing though... 🙂
WT 12, on a package deal, is 151 otd from overseas. If you go local, the Neat Bottle Shop
in Louisville has them…
Got a bottle last Allocated Friday here in Ktown, one bottle left, really a great find, hints of 101 but sweeter!! Very good !
Picked up 2 bottles @ $60 each over the weekend. Looking forward to trying it this weekend!
Haha, just checked the charity site. Going to reach the goal BEFORE the livestream! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have 5 of these and will probably end up with 10. People are sleeping in this one.
Such a great pour
This is a quintessential bottle of wild turkey.
Dropped last week at our ABC store for 45.00, there are no limits on bottles. I bought 3 bottles, and they're still on the shelf. We were told that they should be relatively available.
Well worth the extra $30 over regular wt101. Glad it was readily available as well
Great price, great juice!
Good morning ! Enjoying ☕️ watching from Louisiana 🦞
I was able to get two bottles for retail. Haven’t cracked one yet but I will this weekend.
Hope to find a bottle. Great review
I’m a big WT 101 fan. Love the 70th anniversary. Wish I would have bought a backup.

Why does Wild Turkey have a "sold only in Japan" bourbon? Just curious.
Is this supposed to be everywhere? Cheers all!
Stopped at Total Wine in Sugarland TX today on the way home. 46.99 per bottle. Bought two. Tasty Stuff
Local grocery store on sale for $42.99. BIN
8 year is great. 12 year is in a class by itself
I love that 70th Anniversary Bottle!! I think at that proof and at 8 Year min, it is the best price of 2024!!! Cheers to the "Godfather", Not Grandfather LOL
Wild Turkey is the best 🦃💯💪🏽
Finally found one in michigan yesterday, $59.99 😉👍 VERY TASTY 😋
Where in Michigan?
Nice, but I just got finished scouring around the Detroit area and only found it in one place for $130. No way! Fortunately I found it in California.

Hey Trenton I’m pretty sure ancho chilies are red 😂
nice one guys as always1
It not available over here in Ohio yet, but I'm definitely gonna pick this one up when I can!
I’m still waiting for this bottle to drop in PA. We are always last.
I found mine on sale for $42.99 at Mariano’s in Chicago
I got 3….
1 to drink, a backup, and one to hold 😂
Randomly walked into my local Bevmo the other night and they had two of them left, snagged one for $60! Excited because it's been hard to find around me
At a similar price...
Is it better than Russell single barrel?
Ancho chiles are not typically green. They are dried pablano peppers and usually kind of purple-ish red... as far as i know.
Need to get a bottle of this
I enjoy this bottle more than my bottle of Kentucky Spirit(CN-E)
Good morning Gentlemen
