Thank you so much for finding and sailing around with my ship. I appreciate all of your videos and for you to see mine is awesome! I watch you every morning and I was losing my mind when I saw the thumbnail. Safe sailing!
While the ship was made in the late 1950's the design and thought goes back to the end of the second world war. After the end of the war with the surrender of the Japanese and Germany many people from War torn Europe and southeast Asia saw a better life for themselves in the United States. The United States wanted to capitalize on the growing amount of people immigrating to the United States. Thus the company "Bollinger Lockport" was made. Bollinger Lockport got loans from the government and started designing ships. The first ship they made was a smaller Immigrant ship to be used while designing better and more luxurious ships. The Designers at the company drew up 2 large ships that could dominate the growing Atlantic and Pacific immigration wave. The ships would be one of the most luxurious ships for immigrants to be on at the time. The ships made were the "M/S Roosevelt", named after former president Theodore Roosevelt, and the "M/S Grant" named after former president and civil war veteran Ulysses S Grant. The Ships keels were put down and construction started in 1957. By the end of 1958 the ships were being fitted out and ready to leave the harbor. The M/S Roosevelt made its maiden voyage on November 7th 1958 from Boston-Marseille. The M/S Grant had its maiden voyage on December 16th from New York- Barcelona. On entry both of these ships were successful but an unforeseen change happened that the Company wasn't previously aware of. By the 1960's Immigrants coming to the United States and the western world were more picky on how to travel and many chose to go on jets as they were more faster and cheaper. Ships couldn't compete with the jets Boeing and Mc-Donnell Douglas were making. It was with the entry of the Boeing 707 and DC8 that washed up the immigrant shipping business. The ships had an overhaul to try to keep passenger numbers up, but less and less people boarded the ships. The M/S Roosevelt had been lost to the seas while on a trip from Marseille to Philadelphia after striking a reef of the coast long island. Its wreck still lies. But the M/S Grant had a more sinister and interesting story. We don't actually know what happened to it. On its last voyage it was from Copenhagen to Boston but went missing. The last position was south of Iceland. Radio signals were picked up from the Grant but were to gargled to make out what they were saying. The seas were rough that night and in the coming days didn't arrive in port. An expedition was sent out to look for survivors that may have been able to find survivors that may have gone into the lifeboats. While on the expedition one boat was found, but only with flashlights, bread, and a medical kit with blankets. No bodies were in the boat. It is also important to mention rope were still on the boat but were ripped off. It was thought that while lowering its occupants must have been spilled out and the ropes ripped apart from the Grant. The wreck has never been found and the Grant is rarely talked about. Its wreck lies somewhere off the coast of Iceland maybe 50 - 75 miles off the coast, waiting to be found...
Day one: Hey Camodo this is day one of making this comment, and I hope to come by in other times to extend this, but all I wanted to say was I love your videos, and you're a great youtuber overall so keep making banger content Day two: Hey Camodo, you're a funny, nice person, and I want people to respect that hops you have a great rest of your day! Fun fact: rogue waves actually happen very often. But most of the time nobody is around to notice. And they are very hard for scientists to say how often they occur
Ruby Gillman won't sink the ocean liner. She will protect the ocean liner from Chelsea the mermaid because Ruby's grandmother says "Krakens are majestic creatures and noble protectors" so made me say "Let's see a kraken like Ruby or her grandmother protect an ocean liner"
Ah yes, Camodo Cruises, where if you go on it, you can see the captain just casually walking about and releasing life boats without any passengers, and almost certainty of you never really getting off the boat, especially when Camodo casually just summons a megladon or craken (Camodo, if you read this, I love your videos and you inspired me to create my yt channel, thankyou for inspiring me)
Also ummm I’m back and I want to say there once was a vessel about the size of that one and it was called the “flying fantum” and I think the crew there took it a little to seriously
So i have a question. You testet the Queen mary and i wanted to Test it my Self but the Buttons werent working why is it That way. Could you help ne please
A German boat exactly like this during World War I was changed into a carrier which carriage cargo and was lightly armoured, but was sung by British ship
