Not sure if its the same but lots of powders or stuff like this i mix for my medical garden will end with clumps but to avoid this we make a paste using the product then mix that into ur water with a magnetic stirrer but like i said not sure if this would work the same but would be worth a try alot of things i do or learned from reefing has helped alot in mixing nutrients for my garden and vice-versa
This video states 6 scoops of All For Reef powder to be mixed with 1 litre of water. A small point, but I am sure the instructions state 6 scoops pf powder to 900ml of water.
I've got loads of the DIY AFR to use up and then I'll head back to 2 part on my LPS tank. The basic principle of single part dosing like this will always be flawed. They only work as long as your tank follows the perfect uptake of each element. For example, to keep my LPS tank at 8.5dkh, my calcium is close to 500 and creeping up. I've also seen a couple ICP tests after long term use and things are all jacked up. I'd recommend regular water changes with AFR to try and keep some balance. In the end, 2 part with part C and individual trace elements is the way to go for ultimate stability.
Thomas, I did not know you are Canadian, I need more pics of your socks. Just starting to dose all4reef in my 100 gallon. Your insights are as always the best!
Most calcium reactor users will also add in a magnesium supplement like ZEOmag. From there, you've got your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium dosing covered. Anything beyond that (like trace elements) will depend on other factors like water change volume and frequency.
It's absolutely great stuff and easy to use! 🙌 And so cheap its ridiculous just add RO water! 👍 Did a video on this a few weeks ago been available in Europe for a few months now.
So I read on Tropic Marine website and it says to use 900ml of RODI water with 6 level scoops of the All4Reef powder, however you mentioned 1000ml (1 liter) instead. Just wanted to make sure it’s 900ml and NOT 1000ml (1 liter). As always all the videos that you all at BRS put together are awesome and absolutely helpful. Thank you 🙏 for all that you guys do at TEAM BRS..
Hey @fellowreefer, good catch! I'll have the team update our mixing instructions to match Tropic Marin's instructions. That said, using 1000ml won't be an issue and may actually make it easier to dissolve the powder. It'll only reduce the potency of the solution very slightly by using 100ml more RODI.
AFR liquid then DIY and now the powder (thank god finally!!) going on 2 years now, 65 gallon tank stuffed with SPS and LPS. Would never go back to 2 part
I wish you would re stock the regular Carbo calcium power, I loved it. I had to switch to all-for-reef out of necessity, which is not really a bad thing and i could always shop else where if i really wanted it but now i have to keep some liquid carbocalcium on hand for those random KH drops. Aside from that I do like the all-for-reef.
Looks like we recently took delivery of a shipment. Just have to process it through our receiving department before we can get it up and available on the website 🙂
I wonder if this stuff could be dosed using a kalk stirrer? I currently dose kalk, but I love the idea of adding the Mg so I don't forget and let me levels get too low.
Absolutely! If your tank is high consumption, you'll want to be on top of your testing game immediately after the switch to make sure that your tank is remaining stable.
Wouldn't you need to add the all for reef to a salt that is very low in mag/alk/cal? If you use it to top off the corals usage, then unless your tank uses all the elements concurrently, then it would make one element or two go way high to dose the lower element right?
It could over time, but in general, reef tanks use up these elements in a pretty constant ratio. Of course, you'll want to test to make sure that nothing is getting out of whack, but testing goes along with any dosing system
Not sure how to interpret this. I just started using All For Reef powder and this was my first test after about a week of using it. My Alkalinity went from 10.9 to 7.6 and my Calcium went from 500 to 510 so I'm not sure if I should adjust up, or down.
The 8 gallon esv mix with free shipping is 15.14 liters @ 11.75 a liter, the same amount in AFR is 7.42 a liter. But the real question is how does it take per dose for 100 gallon @ 1 dkh per day?
How long is long to mix? I have been mixing and mixing and mixing and it has a yellowish tint and not very clear like in your video. Just making sure I’m good before I start dosing it.
A slight yellow tint isn't anything to worry about in most cases. Likely just some minor impurities in the water the All For Reef is being mixed with. We've seen this on a handful of occasions and have still used it without incident 🙂
@@BulkReefSupply Thanks I mixed even more with a magnetic stirrer and looks all mixed dissolved just the yellow tint. The inside cap of the powder has a yellowish tint. I looked in a bottle of All for Reef solution and it’s not as clear as I thought. Thank you!
After mixing how long can it be stored? Does it need to be refrigerated. Also I've been using red sea reef energy ab+ but looking to save money. Is this worth switching to save money?
All For Reef can be stored indefinitely once mixed. Just make sure it's in an air-tight container to avoid evaporation. It does not need to be refrigerated. Keep in mind that All For Reef and Reef Energy serve different purposes. All For Reef is designed to maintain your calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and trace elements. AB+ is a coral food.
All-For-Reef comes with a measuring spoon in the container. It's not a tablespoon or teaspoon, but will end up being about 160 grams if you wanted to do it by weight instead.
Hey I have a question, so I tested my calcium levels today and it was low (331) and my alkalinity was where I wanted it to be (8.7) how do I fix the low calcium levels?
I would suggest having a little bit of two part on hand to make these adjustments occasionally. In this case, I would suggest some calcium chloride, then using the BRS reefing calculator to figure out how much you need to add for your specific water volume. These pre-measured pouches are great because they're inexpensive and make exactly 1 gallon of calcium solution www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-gallon-mix-calcium-chloride-single-use-bulk-reef-supply.html
@@BulkReefSupply okay great thank you so much I have some calcium chloride on hand I wasn’t sure if I could dose it while Dosing all for reef thanks a lot
Awesome this product came right on time before i get corals and start dosing. question how long after dosing will i have to test coz i was told the previous DIY TM had to wait hours before testing if not the next day. does this solve that?
The powdered All-For-Reef still works the same way as the liquid version once mixed. It's a good idea to wait a good 12 hours after dosing to test, just to be safe.
I believe you arent suppose to dose until your corals reach a certain size and start consuming more alk, calcium ect. Unless you dont change water often you should be able to get what they need from salt water mix.
Both of these products do similar jobs with the main goal being calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium supplementation. You would use one or the other, but not both.
I’m thinking doing all for reef liquid solution….my alk 9.8 my cal is 456..meg is 1480 …did I still need to fallow direction of dosing? R how much can I dose?
It's most likely due to differences in the quality of water that the powder is being mixed with. A slight yellow pigment wouldn't be something that I'd worry with a whole lot based on your description.
Before this was avaliable in the US my buddy over in Europe sent me some. I mixed some uo when I got it and I never used it for reasons. It's been like 8 months think its still good? It's been in a glass container under my stand.
I have been using the powder. and the instruction dose is to large with the blue spoon. my magnesium is over 1600 and wont come down.. even when you mix according to the customer help mix which is 4 scoops per liter, magnesium is sky high.
I would suggest dosing All For Reef based on your tank's alkalinity level. That said, not being able to adjust your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium separately is one downside of an all-in-one type product like this. If you want to continue using All For Reef, I would suggest a few larger water changes to help bring everything back into line before resuming your dosing.
The short answer is no. Like two part, All For Reef also adds calcium and alkalinity to your reef tank. The benefit of All For Reef vs most two part systems is that All For Reef also adds trace elements to your reef.
iv been using this for around a year now everything seems happy but my alk is like 10.8 when its supposed to be 9dkh how do i lower it? i have a 220g system moderately stocked but am only dosing 9ml per day it according to the instructions should be much larger dosing for my size tank , my parameters are fine and torches are putting out new heads any idea whats going on?
The two ways to lower alk are to either stop dosing and let it fall naturally as the corals consume it, or do a water change with a salt mix lower in alkalinity than your current level.
Not exactly, but Tropic Marin does have recommendations for a good starting point. They suggest 5 ml of liquid All For Reef per 26 gallons of aquarium water. Obviously, if you have a heavily stocked tank, you may need to dose more. I like to do this all based on Alkalinity as it changes more than other major parameters.
That's a great way to dose your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. Actually, the BRS two part mixing instructions are based on his work! Just keep in mind that doing it that way won't add any trace elements like All For Reef does.
I've had over a dozen SPS tanks over the past 20 years and none have been consistent with alk:calcium uptake. Currently I use soda ash (arm and hammer baked) and sodium hydroxide to keep my tank a pH of 8.4 and amazing SPS growth. People I see using this stuff don't exactly have impressive tanks.
Is that all you do to keep ypu ph up like that? No outside venting or anything? Is that just to keep h up or is that for alk dosing as well? What is the ratio if you dont mind me asking?
We've had really good results using the liquid version of this in the past and have continued with the powdered version. Out of curiosity, what are your concerns?
@@BulkReefSupply I just personally think each element should be dosed separately on a as needed basis, it’s hard to control how much of each thing is going in when it’s a all in one supplement, what if my calcium is way to high but I needed to dose alkalinity wouldn’t this raise both?
