I know there are a lot of ambience studio plugins, microphone emulations, and of course, EQ, compression and reverb. I don't think I've seen it all put in such an extensive package in one plugin with an easy to use interface, though. I suppose it's the culmination of all the various techniques of emulating real spaces and hardware to date. Thanks for the demo.
Great video! I've been using this plugin for the past few weeks, and it's one of the most incredible tools a mixing engineer could have in their toolbelt. SO much tweakability and the ability to make any DI track or boring room track come to life. I just wish it wasn't so CPU intensive. 😅
Gret video Ed! Absolutely in love with this plugin. I'm using it all over my mixes. I am a freelancer so I get A LOT of tracks of questionable quality lol. The RE-MIC mode can really make a big difference in the proper context.
Why you are changing parameters, when the preset is not ready to fiddle about? When the white bar is blinking the algorithm is still not ready to be listen correctly. And I wanna also know something about the special features like the Encode Mode that is a virtual Dolby A circuit and so on.
Great video, and a VERY interesting plugin! Sound City is one of my favourite music documentaries, and the Studio definitely had its own sound. Very nice!!🔥👏🏻👏🏻
Just seen this advertised on a special by UA for £39. And of course I bit their arms off after having watched this. Only surprised that I didnt buy it at full price last time, LOLZ.
I have IK's Rooms which are fantastic .This is EVEN more fantastiker :P .To all honesty those tools must be properly used otherwise phase is the King :P .Nice one mate
What i want to knows is, where is the apollo version? I am starting to get this feeling that at some point UAD will replace all their DSP based audio interfaces with Non DSP versions. If this is the case then prices for the non dsp versions should be significantly reduced.
If this plugin in has two modes remic and reverb like Ocean Way then you might be mistaking what the remic mode is. On Oceanway remic is used as an insert and not a send - and gives you the "room" sound. The whole sound is treated and the mix knob is inactive. Is it not the same for this plugin? Remic is not for bass and electric guitars it's for anything and everything you want to place in the room. As an insert.. I may be wrong but I don't see why they would change their terminology from plugin to plugin.
Before you all lose your mind, compare this ASAP to UAD Oceanway Studios it’s the same concepts I want to hear side-by-side I want to hear which is one sounds better let’s go ! Somebody do it please ASAP. Thank you.
That would be a good comparison but of course the idea is to model and capture each studio’s distinct sound. From what I hear on the records I think UA have done a good job modelling SCS.
tbh, this plugin and also the ocean way plugin sound no different to the results you can achieve from valhalla room verbs for much less money. Take the fancy GUI away and these really aren't that special. Not saying they're bad, just not mind-blowingly better than the other options out there.
I have both and I can’t begin to imagine how I could make Valhalla sound like the Sound City Studios plugin. I suspect if you have the understanding of it all you are correct. But in my layman case, the Sound City Studios plugin just works great. (Note I did take advantage of the pick 2 for $99 deal to get it).

Wow that snare and drums in general are amazing even without this plug-in

I totally agree. It’s a good sounding room but very CPU intensive.
Sound City plugin is incredible!
Amazing work from UA!
🔥🔥
That sounds very good! Sunset Sound Studio from IK is also very nice. I like the layout of the controls for sure on this UAD plugin. .

Thanks, Matt.
Best of UA for sure
I recon so.

Thanks, Justin. From what I hear on the records I think UA have done a good job capturing the studio’s essence.
Good Review ! How do you get it to open in Studio View ??? Mine will not ???
Thank you. Click on the two square icons with dots in them on the right hand side.
If that only worked thanks for responding !@@EdThorne

They’re offering some mad prices atm. I suspect something new is coming… or they realise we’re basically in a global recession.

I highly doubt UA will replace their DSP interfaces because that’s the only way they can offer zero latency monitoring.

Might be off topic but, do you have a gate in your vocal chain? Sounds so clean and without any noise ✌🏻
Hi there. Yes. I use Sonible Smart Gate. Best Gate I’ve heard for vocals. For drums it’s either this or Sonnox Drum Gate.
Love this plugin. It just adds a 3d dimension when your mix needs that little extra.
Absolutely!

It’s not about “better”, it’s about different options!
You seem a bit demanding.
Dude.. I literally had to get the damn spark subscription after i heard it. This reverb is too good. This and the studer a800 plugin. 🔥🔥🔥
Glad you liked it! 🔥🤘
Is this included in Spark now? :O
@@gkiss2030 Yes it is!!
What you didn't mention is that there is no DSP version, but this uses a huge amount of your computer's CPU....
Because you already know this 🙂🤘
@@EdThorne I do!!
We have to get back to the music...

Kinda defeats the purpose of the demo to use drum sources that have heavy reverb already present.
This was clearly explained in the video.
Yes, you mention it. But it nonetheless masks the result. Fine for personal use, not useful for a demo of the main benefit of the plugin.
Altiverb has been doing this for years...UAD is good, but nothing new....
But their interface was confusing...
Specifically modelled on Sound City Studios?
Altiverb isn't using Dynamic Convolution though. Just static impulse responses. I love Altiverb, but this is slightly different approach.
Tried this plugin.. Don't like the sound at all.
