- Captain "PJ" from the French Navy's Flotille 31F at Hyères Naval Air Base presents the NH90 NFH maritime helicopter to us.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) has 27 NH90 NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter) on order from NH Industries, of which 23 units were already delivered in December 2019.
According to Airbus Helicopters, the NH90 in its NFH version is a ship-based compact maritime helicopter, one of the primary maritime weapon systems for any surface fleet. Operating from shore or warships up to sea state 6, the helicopter is tailored for full capability in both anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface unit (ASuW) warfare. Search and rescue operations can be performed in either of these configurations. Complementary roles include maritime surveillance and control, airborne warning control, logistic transport and utility support, vertical replenishment (VERTREP), casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) and special operations - including counter terrorism and anti-piracy.

Surely a capable Helicopter - I wonder how it compares to the Merlin HM2 ?.
Merlin is mustard .The best all rounder and in my eyes the best sub hunter .
The "EH-101 Merlin" it´s a little bigger than the "NH-90", so, it´s no comparable betwen of them. , ..
the merlin is a good helicopter! but the nh90 will benefit from the french experience acquired on the carracal!

best helicopter of this size! the merlin and the nh90 have not yet been "run in" and without insulting augusta westland, we can think that the final potential of the nh90 is greater because there is a better global vision of what a high performance helicopter is and above all how to stay that way over time!
