Thank you for uploading this, I’m so nervous. I only ever worked at retirement homes as a server, so I’m excited to work at Dollar tree. At the same time extremely nervous
Dude same here, i just started. I miss restaurant work but they dont wanna hire in my area and Dollar Tree was the only job that answered back. It sucks man, as a server you can walk out a shift with for sure 150 bucks if not more at least, working 6 days a weei during the season was worth all the work when I got those tips, gonna miss those days. I hear if you stay awhile with dollar tree it pays off when you get promoted. If my boss was there for 7 years they must be paying him a good salary. Oh well. Gonna keep enjoying my day off, i forgot to mention, with inflation ahead jobs are going to be reducing hours like crazy.
That was the deadest, cleanest DT I've ever seen. In reality she's doing all that and more with customers and usually by herself while the manager up to something or nothing else. If you're lucky you might have another checker with you for part of your shift. That green shirt she got on, she paid for out of her pocket on minimum wage depending where you are. I didn't see her blow up any balloons but that's part the job too. Cashiers are usually PT unless you somehow luck out and get hours, a extra bonus EBT. Anybody who's worked retail knows how much fun that can be.
hey hun! i have a couple of questions if you don’t mind ❤️ p.s i’m 17 and in my area they’re willing to hire me! -if i apply for the ‘sales floor associate’ position, will i still be able to stock as well or only stick to the register? -do you think this is good for a first job? (as i’m a junior in hs but still hoping to take care of myself without relying on anyone😅) -if you were to save up for a whole month, would you atleast have $500+? (if this is too personal you dont have to answer! i’m pretending i’m in that situation and seeing how i could save for the better) -how long did they train you? -and is the cash register easy to use?
1. it depends on your manager & your state. if your state has the funds to just hire employees for 1 specific job, yes you would only do 1 job, whether it is only stocking or whether it’s only cashier. but if you leave in a state where the funds are low like my store, they only have 1 to 2 managers on the clock with maybe 2 employees, and we do it all. stock and cashier. but to kindaaa answer your question, more than likely you’ll be doing it all. 2. Yes i actually do, bc usually 1st time employers work at Fast Food, which is FAST, this job is slow and steady, you’ll get the hang of it. you may start off ringing them up at a slow past , but trust the process, you’ll get faster. So yes! it is a great job to start at. 3. it depends, at dollar tree the pay was only $9 now i work at family dollar and dollar tree which is now $9.25👎🏽 so YES it is possible to save 500+ a month , you can make that in 2 weeks because it is a biweekly pay IF you get the hours you need to get to that amount. i’ve done it! it’s possible. so you can do the math there 4. for dollar tree , i will say they trained me for 3-4 days. but i promise it’s not hard at all, you’ll learn little things as you go too, i’ve been with dollar tree for a year now and i’m still learning. 5. the cash register is veryyyyy EASY to use. i’ve put a video up of me working at family dollar dollar teee, so maybe you can find the screen in that video to see how it looks, but it’s veryyy self explanatory. YOU GOT THIS GIRL!! go for it!
I have an interview for the dollar tree in a few days, so this really helped me understand the responsibilities that come with it. I’m currently hired as a personal tutor for $25/hr and only worked 6 hours a week which was awesome since I’m in college. But with the school year ending I need to find a job 😅
I’m currently working at dollar tree as a cashier. Never did cashier in my life but I’ve done stocking and I have a hard time with keeping up with the certain limit you cannot go over or under. Which is $3 over or $3 under after your shift. I’m on my second warning⚠️. And then bagging items for customers are the worst depending what they have.
Do you ever have to work alone? I'm scared to be at the register and not know what to do. Is the training good or do they just throw you in there? Is there ever a time you would not know what to do, or there's really no way?
hey dee, um no you never work alone, ever. being at the register is where you want to be , TRUST ME, it’s fun up there , you just have to be a people’s person, and if your not a simple “hey how are you” is okay! your day goes by sooo much faster if you are CSR. there is not too much to train on, all self explanatory but it depends on how the management is wherever location you are at. If you do not know what to do , call your manager, it’s not your job to know everything , let them do their jobs❤️ less stress off of you.
Stock lol, be prepared if you work for $$$ Tree they will say you will stock but 9 x out of 10 will throw you on a register. I was hired as a "stocker' but have only stocked a couple times....so far. since I started in February.
the only way your a “stocker” only , is if you have gotten in trouble with stealing or you background check ain’t 100% good. other than that, yes you will do both some days.
okay so i currently work here now & tmr will be my 4th day. i already know how to clock in and ring the customers up. but i’m still a little confused on the stocking and starting off with the register. my question is do i just grab a register out the safe then count it and make sure it equals up to the amount ( ours is 75) then my question with stocking is do i just grab a random uboat or ask the manager which one to get ? 😂❤
Hey girl, you will not touch the safe unless you are a manager. they will give you a drawer to count on your own after they have counted it. Also usually they will bring a U-Boat out for you, but if they don’t, don’t go and get one. you are on register, which means you have to be in the front 100% of the time of your shift. now, if you just want to do a u-boat to not be bored, go and get one that have boxes on them that’s in the front of the store. last thing, if you don’t want a u-boat & they have not brought you one out, just recover. (recovery is putting things back where they go after someone have put them somewhere else)
Yo.. that was actually bad ass girl, You just did nothing but a good job with evry thang. Fr The video it's self is amazing & helpful towards someone like me who applied & wants to know the ropes.. & the video ALSO just shows you helping everyone... proud of you
I work in a very busy store and I sell on average of $1000 to $1700 worth of merch during a 4 hour shift and still managers find things to bug me about. Don't waste your time with Dollar Tree
that’s the fun thing about working there. if you don’t like checking people out and taking money all day & talking to people, it’s not the job for you, but me.. i love it , i love getting thousands of dollars every time i work. i do not like a slow business, i like it fast paste. SO those who agree what i just said, THIS JOB IS AMAZING!! i love it , been here a year!! it’s very fun
So helpful! I appreciate this. Earlier today I went up to DT to see about my application, I think I have a good chance of getting the job even though their full on staff. I really hope I get the job but thanks for the in depth vid about what to do. 💕
Girl I WISH the dollar tree we work at would let us count our drawer before we use it.. they just hand us a drawer to put in the register & keep it going smh we dont never have to stock tho. just have to put stuff back where they belong, sweep the area around the registers, fill the drink cooler, fill shopping bags, change trash and occasionally clean the door with windex thats about it... stocking to me is very fun!! makes time go by faster and your not just standing at the register all day. your stocking things like candy, so easy. & my job, no we didn’t get uniform , you just had to wear a green shirt, jeans, & closed toe shoes
@@sashadonyae i thought it was a cashier and also a stocker working in dollar tree but it seems that you need to do everything there. It’s not fair.
@@Lunetha-u6j well I mean dollar trees are not that big, not usually busy (compared to other stores), and stock small items since most items are only a dollar.
this was helpful
thank you!! mission accomplished
