$500 Chinese Scooter Off Road?

- Ben had the brilliant idea to buy a used $500 Chinese scooter to do the Gambler 500. Well word of advice, don't. Bottom Line Up Front: The air intake is extremely susceptible to sucking up water. It is a miracle we didn't kill the scooter. We may give it another try as the trails dry out.

I used to rip my tao tao through some trails with nothing but a 100cc bore kit, my buddy could barely keep up on his KE 100 lmao
Adjust those valves. Makes it a dream to start
Great! I use my Kymco to go offroad too, so much fun!
You needed to clean the sparkplug and let it rewarm again, even though they are cheap to buy, they are reliable, and dont worry about the engin it won't die. Great video, ride safe
It's not what you ride! It's that you ride!
You say that the air intake is extremely susceptible to suck in water, but all I hear is that ITS SNORKEL KIT TIME BABY!!!
that ben guy had no idea how to start it. you dont just kick, those carbs like some gas as well. also as someone else said it wasn't the scooters fault. it's probably sucking up all the darn water
Can't wait for the next one!
Relocate the airbox so the carb isn’t sucking in water
Crazy how moped will get you almost anywhere likes if bigger bikes
these things are SUPER nimble, they are like a ferret. i wouldnt count them out from off roading or goat paths or whatever. theres more to these little mopeds than meets the eye. one just needs to figure them out and know how to use them. mopeds all the way!
Loved the matching blue outfit! Also, is it bad if I was hoping the scooter would stall in one of the big puddles and Ben would fall over sideways?
Very bad
I was hoping he would fall over too! -Jeremy
Is that a 50cc or 150cc scoot? 10" wheels are pretty small for offroad, most pitbikes have 12"/14" wheels, even a grom has 12" and some scooters as well. With this one id add some kind of spacer to the rear shock and get an inch or two of lift(if your really creative you could weld up something dor the front as well) as well as making a better intake, maybe even a less restrictive one and rejet the carburetor. I am building my own 2015 kymco super 8 150r for light offroading, and will only occasionally see anything this serious, but its good to see what i need to modify
50cc obviously
Kinda like my scooter cool
where did you get the moped from?
Amazon or safer whole sale or powersports max
You kept riding it through deep water and sucking it up the air intake of course it didn't make it however if you had sealed the breather and added a snorkel to the air intake it probably would have done just fine
What scooter Tires?
MMG Set of 2 Tires 120/90-10 (P126) Tubeless Front or Rear Motorcycle Scooter Moped www.amazon.com/dp/B00WKQD946/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RHv4Db2H6XD2J
do you think 130/90 10 will fit?
It's kind of funny, but ca'mon can blame that it's a Chinese scooter. Fording water that on any scooter, even a Japanese one, would probably kill it from sucking water into the intake. Plus it's air cooled, so the fan struggled forcing water over the cooling fins. If you revisit this Chinese scooter challenge, fix it up to ford water and go kind of deep, could make a more awesome video.
the plan is to go back when its super dry in the summer and have a snorkel
Stay outta the drink Stosh
Sounds like you trash in the carburetor or a bad CDI .
Don't think its because its Chinese, they are reliable and the only for f transportation for many, including me for a while.
It's run like a top outside of running through puddles and sucking water into the carb
@@TheOffRoadPodcast you can rely on the fact that parts will always be breaking on it. Good thing is, aside from the main frame and motor, every part is sub 50$ usd. Heck, even if you blow it up you can slap a 150cc on it for less than 400$
