    Just as a small note, the walking “dendro” is probably the easiest coral I have in my little 10 gallon AIO. Both it and the worm have thrived throughout my bumbling newbie mistakes - the thing just never missed a beat even when the torches, alvioporas, zoas and various others looked crappy. It’s still slowly moving around the tank, with tentacles fully extended. I don’t intentionally feed it anything but it is by far the most active feeder of any corals in the tank when it snags a piece of flake or mysis that floats by. Highly recommended, I just wish they came in more colours!

    Great video Than, I have a 20 gallon that has a bonded pair of yasha gobies that are paired with a bonded pair of pistol shrimps on one side of the tank. And on the other side there is a bonded pair of Dracula Gobies that are paired with a bonded pair of pistol shrimps. I've never had an issue with them and they seem really happy. The picture has been on BRS. but I could show you one if you'd like to see it.

  • @ActiveAngel2010
    @ActiveAngel2010 7 років тому

    Great Video Than! However, I don't know if paguritta crabs or the Christmas tree worms are symbiotic. What benefit does the coral get for hosting them?
    If anything, I would say they are almost parasitic... but nonetheless, the harm is negligible and is why I think they are very interesting and beautiful creatures.

    As always, great video Than. I do have a question...Do you know of a beneficial relationship, if any, between an acro crab and acropora coral? I'm 6 months into this hobby and already have 1 of these crabs and doesn't seem to leave the coral. Thanks in advance.

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  7 років тому +1

      There is something there, but I don't know exactly. The crabs can't survive long outside an Acro colony that's for sure. I wonder if they clean the coral and provide nutrition.

    • @mohammedbankotkar430
      @mohammedbankotkar430 2 роки тому

      Hey, i might be a bit too late for this but the mother crab kinda "shapes" the coral in a crown or a cell like shape to hide and protect itself and the eggs but then the mother dies later since she is unable to come out of that cage she made from the coral

    • @tidalgardens

    Anyone can chime in. I have hit hikers in my tank. I am undecided on whether they are good, bad, or indifferent. Let me describe them as best as I can. They are circular, pink or pinkish red in color, about the size of a dime when I first see them but grow to maybe the size of a quarter. They have, I guess you would call them tentacles ( or woodly woodlies), with tiny white balls on their tips. They seem to prefer the underside of rocks, have grown fairly quickly, and fluoresce. They “may” bother my Xenia, I had a huge, and sudden die off after a year of totally happy Xenia. Thanks to anyone who has an idea. I will take a sample to my fish shop after Christmas if I can’t get an answer.
