You asked for it... going to take a look at some more of the run of the mill guns in my stable. Here we take a look at a Sig P229 SAO. Enjoy. Stay Safe and Check 360 Often!
My wife got me the Legion 229 SAO RXP for Christmas , it is my first red dot handgun. Like you I have carried the 1911 many years and have no problem with the safety. Comparing it to a Wilson combat 1911 was notable , I have never owned a Wilson 1911 but I have used four of the Wilson custom rifle barrels to build AR platform rifles . Wilson rifle barrels are the most boring rifle barrels in world history , they just shoot through the same hole all day long , day after day after day. I also have the standard DA/SA 229 that is now up for sale on Gun Trader. Thank goodness I have been reloading for many years and there is no ammo shortage for me. I ordered a custom lined kydex IWB holster for my Legion and I intend to carry it .
I had a P226 Legion SAO, and Legionized a P229 DA/SA. No complaints with the 229, but the flat trigger in the 226 irritated my finger, so I sold it. They’re both dead on accurate! Steve Jenkins made a few videos on how to convert your Sig to a Legion.
Thanks for the video. Good review on one of my favorite pistols: great grip, sights, trigger, comes right back on target, and is ultra reliable. Easy to shoot well.
Yes, I agree with your assessment of the quality of the Sig Legion. I have been waiting almost 2 years now for the Mass compliant version of the Sig Legion 226RX DA/SA with the Romeo1 Pro reflex optic. At 71, I hope I live long enough to see this unit arrive at my local retailer!!! One of my "coolest" .45's is the Sig Emperor Scorpion, just for it's looks alone & the quality follows.
Great video and fantastic pistol. I just put one on layaway at my local gun shop. Glad to see you’re still putting out content. I’ve been following your channel since the Pug nose days. Keep it up.
I started shooting with red dots earlier this year. Takes a lot of practice, as you said. Recently I tried green dots though, and it’s a little easier because my eye picks it up faster. Thanks for the great video!
I have the DA/SA Sig Legion 226 & 229 and I plan to keep them forever. Great Pistols, even if my EDC is a Alchemy Custom Weaponry 1911 Brimstone. Another Fantastic Pistol. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Ol1911. 🤠👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👮🏻♂️…….. B9USA Sr.
Thank you for the excellent review. I am considering trading my Dan Wesson Vigil Commander .45 ACP to one of these. I had reviewed your previous reviews on the Les Baer UTC and just purchased one.
Having/had three, a 226 MK25, 226 Extreme and a 229 Legion, I'd decided to reduce to two. I got rid of the 229 Legion ONLY because the magazines don't interchange between the 226 and 229. The SAO is interesting.
Hey The Ol191... Toting a Sig P224 DAK in 40 today in a FIST Belt Slide Holster and yesterday Sig M11A1 in a Ritchie Shoulder Holster! Usually a 1911 of some sort but figured that I'd mix it up a little because the gunshop that I work at are all "Sig NUTS" ';-) Good hearing from you and stay safe Sir!
I know this posting is a little dated but I have a question. Can a p229 slide and barrel fit and work without any problems on another sig frame. I came across a p229 slide (legion) and was wondering if it would fit an a legions frame.
That Sig is just as accurate and reliable as your Wilson, not as refined certainly but I have the EDCX9 and the 229 Legion RXP in SAO and I love them both equally and listen brother, 229's might be "run of the mill" and if they are they're at the top of that mill but the 229 Legion SAO is not run of the mill, it's a custom works gun, is hand fitted, has a custom GrayGuns trigger and is better than 95 percent of pistols on the market, not run of the mill at all in the Legion format. Great video though and clearly you have great taste in guns.
I wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of my Sig Legion P226 SAO and my Sig MK25. I loved them both, but I needed them as trade bait for an expensive gun I wanted real bad. Someone bought them before I had a chance to buy them back. If I had known that Sig would discontinue their classic line, I would have never parted with them.
Seems like I'm unable to post any prices, links, laws/regs, blah blah - can't even show "long guns" anymore because of reports??!!?!?!? but GunBroker is a good indicator of what you should be paying. Good luck!
the 9mm vs 45 debate is moot because in reality the 10MM is the king of pistols. the 10MM is the best MM. I don't really like the SAO SIG's a 220 platform without a decocker is just weird to me. I get that people really like that single action trigger though. I think a double action first pull is better though don't need a safety and in a stressful situation that first 8 pound trigger pull wont even be noticed. I agree by the way Instagram is so stupid and I don't really understand it either I guess it's just used for pictures.
Let’s be real here if all we wanted was a pure “lifesaving tool”, we would all only carry boring ass Glocks. It’s okay to want a carry gun you like the aesthetics of.
We used to use these for sentry duty until some fool tried to dismantle one and didn't know how to put it back together. Management gave us .357 revolvers after that.
could be wrong but I'm guessing that flashlight company that wouldn't leave you alone was Olight.... they try getting every youtuber to promote their product.
Im 25 and have never understood the hype about instagram, its only purpose is for users to vicariously live through other narcissists, its really disappointing to see how dependent my generation has become on social engineering media
P22x series is nothing more than a improved Browning HP. Should buy a Holosun ACSS Vulcan if your suffering on red dots. I ordered one and from what I hear I think it'll more anything most will need.

Two of my favorite carry guns! I carry a P229 chambered in .357 SIG.
very nice! I've never really dabbled ini the .357sig much.
That Sig is awesome!!! I'd like to have that one in my collection
A life-saving tool indeed.

i really hope you do get a chance to get your hands on the 226rx! I have not had the pleasure to check out the Emperor Scorpion yet...
As a guy who prefers no safety, I still believe any platform can be trained on.

I dont carry single action pistols for the same reason. I dont train with them enough. But given your level of experience, I don't see the issue.

Nice! I looked at 1 of these at the time, but ended up sticking w/a 1911 for off work (P229 on). Go figure, lol!

some real nice guns! and some nice leather!
I carry a standard railed .40 cal P229 everyday at work. It's a decent gun. I find the WC EDC9 a better comparison to the one you got.
I love mine. And my Wilson combat carry.

How’s the p229 legion SAO compared to that Wilson combat? Which do you still have and carry?
“Run of the mill and readily available at the gun store”
My, how things have changed.
Did you install the thumb safety? If so, where you buy it from? Thanks
Nice, I so want one of those doesn't have to be a legion but it would be ok.
I have a legion p938 that I love. Nice gun like always.

Sucks you only get 10rd magazines. I have 21rd and 15rd flush ones for my p320rx x-carry.
Respect
i have the 226 sao. I ride the thumb safety just like my specialist. check out the sig armorer superstrut for it
Good stuff
Can you do an update with the red dot slide

Man I've traded sooooo many so I hear ya. And yeah it does suck the classic line is gone.
Great gun, I have the P220 in 10mm and love it. How do you feel about 10mm for carry?
that is a very nice pistol! I did try to carry a G29 for a little bit years ago. But eventually went back to the 45... Stay tuned on a 10mm vid
What does a used p229 9mm legion go for? Ive been looking for one but dont want to spend the money on a new one.

The safety isn’t an issue if you shoot with a thumbs forward grip, your thumb will naturally ride on top of the safety.
@@poolee77 no need for a safety on a sa/da pistol though
It's a custom works gun!
You're on the fence with your review.
"To carry, or not to carry, that is the question"
Its a double stack 1911

I carry my p229 with the safety off.

Instagram is for the "look at me" people that crave the likes and attention.

Everyone says I need an Insta....i don't even know what to do with one, hahahaha. Times have changed so much. I appreciate your comment!
Too much oil on the barrel
