    In this episode we leave Wandoan and drive to Taroom in Queensland. We stay at Ken's Camp, a low cost camp just 5km out of town.
    Taroom is a quiet town servicing the surrounding rural properties. Its great claim to fame is that when the Prussian #explorer Ludwig Leichhardt, passed through the district he marked a tree LL 44 and that #tree subsequently became a standout feature in the middle of the main street. (Thank you Aussie Towns for this information)
    We check out the magnificent 'Steel Wings Windmill" .
    Camping and fishing are also popular pastimes - with good local fishing spots in the Dawson River at the edge of town, Sandy Creek Bridge, Ken’s Camp, and at the Glebe Weir (54km from Taroom).

    Thank you for another fun escape from reality! I particularly enjoy that you are visiting small towns that I wouldn't normally hear about and take the time to point out what is unique about each. I don't 'need' for you to take the time to read the plaques etc, but I do enjoy listening to you talk about them. As always, you are finding great spots that I am adding to my eventual travel list. Much appreciated. xxx

    A nice camping spot. Had to laugh about changing camping spots the type of thing we always did. Very thoughtful leaving phone numbers for campers Tracy yes love you showing all these things. It’s very helpful to find out about all the things in these little towns. Without your tours I would have no idea and I guess would most people would be the same

    Hubby and I enjoy your your videos. I’m usually checking maps to see where you are then pinning the spots for our future trips. We love our bakeries, always the best place to get a variety of food. Sad when the smaller towns close theirs up.

    Hi Tracie and John. Must have missed you by a day or two. Did roughly the same trip a few weeks ago. Stayed at Ken's camp also and what a gem. By the way there was a bakery at Taroom. It was at the end of an arcade, opposite the IGA. Only small but nice food. Keep up the good work. Liking all the fun facts about each place and I can't believe I missed the windmill. Must have been looking the other way ;)

    Really enjoy all your videos. Been binge watching heaps. We’re hoping to start our traveling in the next six months so getting great ideas from you guys. One hint for you. I use my drone if parked and looking for a creek. Just send it straight up and pan around to see where I want to go. Then bring it straight back down. Love all the info you read out. Cheers robert. 😊

      @onlyleavingfootprints  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching Robert. Unfortunately lately we have either been in areas where we cannot fly drones or its been so windy we couldn't use it. Hopefully its going to get better. Thanks for the hint though. You will be on the road quicker then you think, so enjoy planning.

    Hi guys I was following you yesterday, somewhere on the way to Dalby (at least that’s where I was headed). I pulled up behind you at a roadworks traffic stop on the ranges and followed you for a bit. I was in a white Peugeot. Lost you after a while, but wanted to say…you guys are great drivers! I’m from the Sunshine Coast and was my first time heading to Dalby (hence not knowing exactly what spot I saw you in!). Anyway you’ve got a new subscriber… I appreciate good drivers! Oh and your content looks great too 😊

      Hehe yes I’d never be able to have a sticker on my car for that reason! But it’s a great idea… I may not have discovered your channel otherwise, or at least not for a while. Thanks yes only made one wrong turn (I refuse to use google maps to try and improve my map memory skills… sometimes it works against me. Picked up on my mistake after 500m, so not too bad!). Happy travels guys, I look forward to following your adventures, plus catching up on your old ones too. 🗺❤️
