That was amazing Looking back to my Wales I can see how close our olden days compare to Bulgaria’s with dress, culture singing dancing, it’s great to see them keeping there culture alive and getting the young involved so they have a bit more respect for there surroundings buildings etc less mess graffiti etc
There is (quite rightly) a big emphasis on keeping the culture alive and we fully support their efforts in any way we can. As for graffiti, there is only one example in the village that I know of and that's not recent. The main issue here is litter, there doesn't seem to have been a "keep Bulgaria tidy" campaign yet. Hopefully it will come!
That was really nice to see the performances. We don’t get to experience these things as we only holiday at our house currently. I’m making notes of the celebration days you tell us about and hope to experience some of them soon. Well done with the roof work so far 👍
Thanks Paul, it's really good being part of these village activities, even if we are only spectators at the moment. The roof is quite an enjoyable job but would be a lot easier at ground level!
I've found three ceiling joists in my basement corridor where they enter a wall have started to rot so I assume I'll have to get them replaced. They are only four foot long and rotted at one end so I assume the sooner they're replaced the better. When we bought the house this ceiling was covered in gloss painted ply wood which I had taken down.
I would agree they will need replacing, they are there for a reason! It's always "interesting" to see what is hidden behind panelling, I'm not looking forward to looking behind the false ceiling in Max's room, it's probably a mess.
thanks for sharing, do you have issues with ants in the grass etc?, we have just got back to the uk from coming over to BG for 2 weeks, suffered really bad from ant / insect bites, even after spraying and putting ant powder every where, cant find any white vinigar in Billa / supermarkets ect, any advice would be great, all the best.
We have ants but they don't seem to bite us. The mosquitoes and other flying things are more of a problem. I am currently experimenting with garlic capsules as I got bitten on two separate occasions and they were horrible for about a week. So far I've had a couple of minor bites but nothing else. Bites are part of life here but you can limit your risk. Avon skin so soft spray also works well and is better for you than the harsher alternatives. We have some white distilled vinegar and I think it came from Kaufland. We hope this helps.

I enjoyed your video at the Chitalishte. Gosh you were lucky with the rain and the roof, Poor Tilly😟
I managed to get the roof tiles back in place last night and we woke up to rain this morning! My luck must be holding!
