It is DEFINITELY NOT just as basic as the Pentax K-1000 (0:28). This camera has mirror pre-fire, AE memory in the shutter release button, depth-of-field preview, a Copal Square vertically travelling metal shutter that synchronizes for electronic flash at 1/125s sec, shutter speed display in the viewfinder and, most and foremost, auto-exposure.

You can't beat the sharpness of those lenses. When I was using film, and shooting Real Estate interior photographs, I always had my Konica as a back up to my Hasselblad, and I swear, you could not tell the difference.

the Konica Hexanon lenses are awesome too, i use on my Konica T3 : 28mmf3.5, 40mmf1.8, 50mmf1.8, 35-70mmf3.5 and 135mmf3.2, they are all sharp and contrasty. As good as Canon or Minolta or Nikon glass.

In 1975 I purchased the Konica T-3. After setting the shutter speed, the camera chose the correct F-Stop indicated by a needle in the viewfinder. It was to my knowledge the most automatic SLR made at that time. However in 1976 Cannon came out with the AE-1. It was more electronic. In the same year, 1976, Fugi came out with ASA 400 film. I continued to use my Knoca T-3 until the 1990's when I switched to Minolta and its new AF SLR. BTW I used various Electronic Flashes, including the famous Vivitar 283 and Braun and Sunpack. Eventually I used 'Bounce Flash' which eliminates dark shadows.
When I switched to digital, I used a 'Safety-Sync' with those old Flashes to prevent an excessive charge entering the camera and damaging it. (I started photography in 1952. Now I have a Nikon d7100.) Great Hobby, and many photographic memories.

I just got a Konica Autoreflex T3 from Henrys and it was free, I have a friend there that gave it to me as their not allowed to resell film camera that have been sent in for recycle, It's a great camera, I just have to figure out the light meter as it shows f/stop rather than light or dark

Have you found a replacement for the batteries ? Does this one use PX675 1,35v batteries as well ? I have a T3 and cannot find for the life of me a cheap alternative to either buying 2x40$ adapters or just rocking 1,45v batteries and risking damaging the circuit

I think I only used this one with Sunny 16 so no battery needed.

you can use hearing aid batteries type 675, they have around 1.4 volts and many Konica shooters recommend them

just got into photography and my first camera happened to be the autoreflex T, i just wanted to know if any film will work, i bought a box of film but all i can remember was it said 400/200 speed. i don’t see any of those options on the camera so i just use 500 since it’s... close? but i’ve already use up about half of my first role, but i haven’t taken pictures since because i want to know if they’ll still come out okay.

Is it common for the T to have a faulty shutter? Popped the right batteries in to check the meter which is working. Film wont advance on the lever and shutter button presses all the way down but doesnt actuate. Film rewind button on the bottom of the camera also doesnt stick out to rewind.

Not that I know of, it's not common. Check the battery contacts?

    Good Evening
    I just bought a Konica Autoreflex T
But I dont know exaxtly how the lightmeter works.
When I change the apeture there is no movement from the needle but when I change the lighting or the shutterspeed the needle moves.
Can you help me with this?
    Thanks.

When I set the apeture on the lens to 5.6, I have to alligne the metering needle with the number 5.6 on the scale for correct exposer?

I had the FTA, I believe the Japanese version - bought brand new in Hong Kong in 1975 for $150.00 US. It was a brute, although I had the meter replaced twice over the next 6 years.

There are more lenses plentiful for Canon, I'd go with it over anything Konica.

@@kennethwajda Lololololol Yep, more great advice from a triftstore junkie. Ask ANY repair person which camera they would suggest, a Canon AE-1 or the solid and mechanical Konica Autoreflex T or T2, the Konica wins EVERY poll over the plastic (polycarbonate) godawful AE1. Have you forgotten about the Autoreflex Ts copal square shutter?? The shortest film plane to flange distance of all SLRs. The gold standard Hexanon lenses? And they are CHEAPER than the Canon by far!! What's wrong with you?

The real advantage of these cheap bodies, if you manage to find one in a really nice condition, is the lenses one can use with them. Some Hexanon lenses are fantastic, very sharp and nice contrast. I had some very, very punchy negatives with my Hexanon 40mm F/1.8 - unfortunately i couldn't get a reliable Konica body, after four faulty T's and T3's i gave up.

Dani Timo Weber Camera in the US can provide reliable ones, or repair yours. They are great cameras when serviced. The 40/1.8 and the 50/1.7 are awesome, as is a properly working FT-1. And the FC-1 was a great answer to the AE-1.

I think learning how to say Nikon properly should be considered, as well (it is Neecone just as it is "Cawn own" and not Canuhn)

Just as basic as a K1000 as far as what it looks like. Beyond that, it has DoF preview, self-timer and one of the first SLR AE systems ever with shutter-priority automatic exposure. A K1000 it is not. Less than half the price, more than twice the features. It's cheap compared to a K1000 because Konica's bayonet is a dead mount on an all but forgotten brand. That said, this is far more camera than a K1000.

  • @RascalKyng

This review is weak. You completely forgot that it has a priority mode. It achieved this through a match needle capture & lock mechanism. No circuit board needed!
The auto exposure-lock can be achieved by half pressing the shutter.
The work flow is really something else, well beyond a K1000!
One goes: 1. Half press shutter release (Exposure lock subject/area), 2. Compose, 3. Full shutter release.
It is like butter! You only use one digit on your hand!
Also, if you look closely, it has a lot more build quality and extra features than a K1000. Copal Shutter, DoF button, electronic flash at 1/125s sec!!
