Crazy to think Lindsay Davenport nailed the bill jean king cup rooster before Miami and now Collins is ranked higher then 2 of the players that are playing for the US.
Don't know that much about Danielle Collins, except that it seems like she's been around forever and never made it to the top echelon of women't tennis. Then all of a sudden (so it seems to me) she's caught fire and is beating all comers! I find that really amazing, especially on her last year on the tour, and a bit inexplicable, and wonder why at this late point in her career she's able to reach this high level of tennis, and not before?!!
she has kind of said it herself: she really wants to finish this year playing the best that she can. to leave it all out on the court. also, just watching her matches from the last few years (again), she is playing a more cleanly and using the court better. everything has come together. i hope that she keeps this form across the season. she could really trouble the top 3 players on a consistent basis.

She is from Florida originally and after one year at Univ. of Florida, she transferred to Virginia, where she twice won the NCAA ladies singles title. Unlike most WTA players, she went the college route and didn't start her pro career until her early 20s, and since she just turned 30 in December '23, her career has been much shorter than most of her peers. She is a major talent but her career has been interrupted by some non-tennis-related physical ailments. Kind of a shame that she is calling it quits after this year. She has never achieved to her potential. But it is fun to watch her when she is slamming that ball!
Two degrees as far as I recall.. also 2 NCCA tittles !... only started tennis professional career at age 24 in 2018... AO semifinal in 2019 and AO final in 2022... she has had a lot of this kind of successful aggressive playing matches .. problem has been a couple very severe health conditions . . Has the best WTA backhand ever (in my opinion)
I have been saying the last couple years corporate America I dont get .why no big sponsors for danielle. She went to college wom .she is pretty smart. Final of a open..why do all the girls need to win the huge .market her the one girl who played college ..just silly
