You guys speak Dutch (Flemish, but it's the same thing) in the North in Flanders and French in Wallonia in the South, correct? Oh, and Brussels speaks both.

Yeah mostly, but most of the flemish provinces have their own distinct dialect so it's quite hard to pin down THE belgian accent. Also most flemish people learn French but not the other way around, which is very convoluted and makes state affairs take twice as long because it needs to be done in both languages.
Yeah for Flemish its quite irritating to pin down accents even within provinces there are alot of different accents :/

After the abysmal videos that Funhaus put out today in this game basically just failing and blaming it on the game being bad, I'm overjoyed to see Sark playing this gem.
Though you cant deny the game has some issues with sounds and animations, if they iron those out the game would be perfect

Why can't I just run around and shoot people?!" and one guy got stuck on a wall for 4 seconds and spent the whole video whining. I like Funhaus but it was just awful.

The framerate is really good, Sark have you upgraded your war machine or is it the updates for the game?
A bit of both. It's mostly the game being drastically improved over time, and secondarily (with this game especially) Shadowplay desktop capture saves me tons of frames vs Dxtory.

Can't pinpoint the video but it was a grays mod vid (hide and seak maybe) with hutch and nanners. Sark told a story about him as a child. His dad was telling him off and he screamed "YOU'RE NOT MY GENERAL". Must have resonated cause nanners mentions it from time to time.

Its a Dutch accent, not french. (they say "aanvallen" witch means attack in Dutch)
Flemish = still Dutch. Just an accent.
Flemish isn't labeled as it's own language, but as an accent. We speak Dutch :)

Also the army was forced in the French language even though most of the soldiers spoke Flemish/Dutch. French was sadly still the language of 'the elite' and Dutch for 'the peasants' 'the workfolk'. So the officers spoke French and most soldiers Dutch. This causing a lot of miscommunication. At some point the soldiers refused to work until they added Dutch speaking officers in the army because not being able to communicate in the army is a suicide mission. Even with all of this happening the Belgian army did complete their goals and stood their ground having moral victories. (f.e. holding off the germans as long as possible so the French and the Brits could do very important preperations to win the war, it was one of the many buildbricks to victory in the war).
Dutch is not only a language but also means 'from the Netherlands' like 'Belgian' means 'from Belgium'. So having a Dutch accent is only if you're from the Netherlands. Having a Flemish accent would mean you're from Flanders which sounds way different from the Walloon accent and the Dutch accent. A Belgian accent could be a Flemish accent or a Walloon one.

It's a shame these guys didn't get more funding and a couple more designers to build this game out. Their basic design and concept is amazing. Could you imagine Verdun with the squad mode, a little smoother mechanics and 100 man servers?

Worked next to those guys for years. Our productions were usually done separate but we had them on Inbox & Radio several times. Bat-Bruce was a personal favorite.

Not being a smart ass but it just sent my OCD on a rave. I'm pretty sure in the north of Belgium they speak more Flemish and in the south they speak more French. I'm not 100% sure though
The highest part speaks dutch al the way down to brussel in brussel its a mishmash of languages and accents and below that they spreak french and in a lil part german
Flemish is very close to Dutch but is often seen as a different language, and by other it's somehow seen as simply a dialect. Seeing the struggles I often have with some Dutch people, I'm more convinced it's a different language lol. And the reason it's Flemish spoken in the game ("aanvallen" eg), is because the soldiers during that time often were Flemish and the officers French speaking, which btw obviously caused a lot of problems too. The (small) majority of the country speaks Flemish and everyone always forgets the German speakers :P

There is Dutch from the Netherlands and Belgian Dutch as official languages. Just like American English and British English. With tiny differences.
examples: Zetel and Bank, Croque Monsieur and Tosti, Bankautomaat and Pinautomaat, Kous and Sok..
Flemish has his own branch on the tree of languages after studies. Flemish is labeled as a 'collection of the thousands of dialects in Flanders'. Almost every person in Flanders speaks a combination of the Belgian Dutch and the local dialect. Mostly with dialect words that reappear all over Flanders like 'gij zijt'. Or with a slightly different accent on it like 'Gie Ziet'.
If you study the history of the 'proper' Belgian Dutch you will learn that it is based off the dialects of Antwerp.
No I'm not from Antwerp my teacher just really liked dialects and had us study it. RIP..

as a belgian i smacked my forehead, i don't know the exact statistics but only about half the country speaks a local version of french, the other half speaks local versions of dutch and a teeny tiny part speaks german

CORRECTION: Belgians speak two types of languages. Flanders (Northern Belgium) Speak Flemish. Walloon (Southern Belgium) speak Belgian dialect of French.
