I’m italian and born in 1997 this was one of my first game ever played in my life.
I remember with my friend who bought this game on CD-ROM to me and we played on windows 97 on a big and buzzing computer.
Today after a lot of years im 23 and i study art and i found this pearl in the ocean thanks to you for remembering my childhood past. Beautiful game and horror nightmares.
If I remember correctly, there's an alternate ending to this game if you use the exorcism bible on the final boss. You can save Elizabeth Styler. She needs to be very low on health.
2:46 - The "Shave and a Haircut" tune wouldn't see musical prominence for another century, and it would be decades after that before it became popular as a knocking tune.

I love how the devs put little to no effort into the photos on the Wanted posters lol. I don't believe for a second that any were from the 1700's hahaha.

I first played this trilogy 10 years ago. Just recently I've been thinking a lot about this one in particular as this one always stuck out to me. Still after a decade I can't put my finger on it. I love them all, something special about each of them. Wish more people knew about them & played them.

I played all three as well and I think its the sound or the game's audio. The ambient, the music gets to me and I'm a fan of early 2000s graphics that mixes 3D characters with 2D environments although this one was the least good looking than volume I and II.
I just rediscovered this game. I was playing witch hunt recently and I was like "What game does this remind me of that scared the crap out of me 20 years ago?"

Loved this game as a teen. Was one of the 1st RE/SH style old school survival horror games I played on the PC in 2001 on a Compaq Presario from like 2000 I think. This game just gave off a creepy vibe, the music, the atmosphere, it just worked very well. My fav out of the 3.
What part of teens running into the woods did these people not seem to understand?

This Trilogy could still hold up today. It reminds me of Vampire the Masquerade. Add an better equipment screen and some leveling and this these games would be great!
There were documented cases of missing children according to town records, more than likely a child just got up and wondered out into the woods when the parents were sleeping or the result of having a predator among their ranks, could even be a deacon or even their pastor, but nah...gotta be a witch

I remember playing this in the hospital it scare me at night.
One of the first games I purchased with my first wage, well the pirated CD of it. Never managed to finish the whole game. And now after seeing the abrupt ending, I'm a bit disappointed. And what happened to the old witch that was thrown to the wood by the town?
So are these games basically saying Elly Kedward isn't the one doing the stuff from the films? It's a demon.

The Blair Witch novels plus the documentaries basically hint that there’s ancient evil, Lovecraft style in the woods and the so called “Blair Witch” was merely another victim/puppet (Rustin Parr style)
Flock, shepherd, sheep. Theists. Lambs to the slaughter.
Best horror game of that time I would have only preferred more suspense building to the creatures like the one in the barn was random. Enemies were random, not enough build-up. Also multiple towns, visiting islands by boat, and so on would have made it more immersive. Visiting spiritual planes, shape-shifting, could have been improved and made more detailed and in a context that was less random but more credible.
These games came out when I was in high school during the Silent Hill craze but nobody else knew about them and the reviews were negative for some weird uppity reason but they were amazing to anyone looking for a horror adventure game. I also discovered Nocturne because of these.
This was a great little entertaining story. Well done! I usually read plots well but i didnt see the outcome at the end. Great stuff nonetheless.

lol the game is set in 1700s but the pictures in the missing persons luk like people from the modern age or 90s and BESIDES photography didnt exist b4 1800s lol
Playing it now. It's a very arcade game compared to the two previous ones. Volume 1 Rustin Parr is way better in the trilogy, though I think the Volume 2 Coffin Rock has a scarier mood, it's better set like a supernatural story and environment (because there isn't the lizards ghosts from the first one, wtf were those guys??!!).

This looks like a reskin of a game I played before, I can't remember the name. You use double handguns and have a vampire companion, it's even got the crazy jiggling coat physics.
Same development team, also same universe too. Game was called nocturne.
How did you manage to launch this game? I have mission.cpp error on Win 10 and can't play it :/

@@DarshD I ended up finding all three of these games together in a multipack for $3.00 in the late 2000's. The're pretty fun and creepy too. I had never heard of them before either.
I’m always on the lookout for games like this similar to Frogware and the old Adventure Company games. Can’t believe I missed this bundle. 😂
@@BlackmoorGirl66 If you liked the Adventure Company Games you might like a game called "Scratches." A good creepy adventure game. The Director's cut version is great. Same thing with the Barrow Hill games.

Damn, thanks for this a bunch, this is the only game on Nocturne engine I can't find a single working instance of. It's not available for purchase, iso version on torrents or abandonware sites are all broken.

I was looking through the comments to see if someone else spotted it. It seems like a "demonic child" but there's no explanation in the game about it nor if the protagonist was being haunted before starting his adventure.

It annoys me how the first two volumes looked a lot better graphically than this one even though they all use the same engine. The models in this one look wonky and for some reason no one has lipsync.
Of the three volumes I disliked this one because of the graphics but when I played it again it was a lot more fun than volume 1 and 2.
I hope part 2 of Metro Exodus is coming soon.
