Flex-Band - Grade 2-3
This “adagio” movement from the Enigma Variations provides an excellent opportunity for developing bands to work on tone, blend, intonation, and dynamics. Jay Bocook's arrangement is designed for smaller bands and features flexible scoring options to fit most any ensemble.

We used Enigma Variations for our 2019 marching band show, and we used this mvmt as a ballad. Brings tears to my eyes knowing I am graduating this year. And this song always floods my eyes and my heart with memories..
I can’t describe the feeling I feel when I hear this
I played this in a Concert Band way back in about 1981 and we played it at about 86 BPM (Beats Per Minute), much slower than this one. In the UA-cam "Settings" you can change the playback speed. I used "custom" at 0.85 speed.
This is recorded way too fast, sounds much better slower
Beautiful, but I personally like it a tad slower...
Good GOD! Who set the tempo on this recording? It destroyed the entire atmosphere of the piece. Elgar wrote this to express a great loss in his life and this sounds like a MARCH! I see others as well as I have noted the tempo. Nice arrangement (although a bit thin scoring wise) but it would really come to life MUCH MUCH slower. Check our the verson done by the Marine Band "Presiden'ts Own". Absolutely PERFECT tempo and interpretation. Sheesh.....Dr. Z (Lou)
play at 0.75x so much better
Muito lindo 👏👏👏
Holy tempo Batman!😳☹
Mooi gedaan
Who conducted this???? That person had NO idea what the tempo should’ve been…
it feels very fast lol, but it sounds amazing
Perde por estar muito rápido!
Slower please around 85
Etwas schnell, sonst aber sehr schön
Cut your speed in half please!!!!
Xdd
This was too fast

Way way too fast!
