    Started at 3 years old with the 10 fingers grip. I never changed it. I'm 28 now and still use it. If it works for you it works for you.

    I have moved to the ten finger grip because I had pinky finger pain in my right hand. I rehabbed the pinky finger during the off season back to its original strength. The ten finger grips gives a more secure right hand with no stress on the pinky. To make this grip golf course ready I have to reduce the tendency to let the right hand control the back swing. The right hand is along for the ride. Once my body shifts forward and club is accelerating to max speed my right hand automatically adjusts its pressure on the club to compensate for the higher speed of the club.

    Mark, I use an interlock grip and struggle with a slice due to my weak bottom hand.
    I have watched a lot of videos about the "perfect" grip and this is the first video that has mentioned that a deep interlock hinders your bottom hand from moving round the club.
    Now I know why I struggle to get my bottom hand around the club.
    Thank you.

    I've been playing on and off for 20yrs. I was always interlocking, then this year tried overlap, had some good results but felt i lost distance and wasn't consistent in striking. Tried baseball grip for the first time yesterday and WOW! The club felt smooth and right, my swing felt free,fast and powerful! Got some of the BEST drives I've ever hit and the irons were crisp. Gonna keep using this grip and see how it goes. But so far so good!

      Likewise, I've just switched to (baseball grip) as I'm on vacation and forgot my glove so I've been using a plaster on my second finger (left-hand) and the compulsory caddy at Sandals recommended it. True to form, I'm more consistent with my left arm in my downswing and at the point of impact when hitting my driver/ irons in the right direction!

      Yep, I’m exactly the same. Got back into golf after 10 years off, and just couldn’t get comfortable with my old grips. Tried baseball, and my distance and control changed almost instantly. It feels so natural that I totally stop over thinking all the little niggly things you think about stepping behind the ball. For some reason I do still interlock when using wedges, and doing softer shots, as I still feel that grip gives me more subtle speed control closer to the green.

    I interlocked for 40 plus years, switched to baseball because i was inconsistent and ball striking was very inconsistent. Baseball grip has me compressing the ball and hitting it straighter and longer than i ever have.

    Thanks for the video. I've been struggling. I'm 60 and only been playing about 12 years... off and on, but mostly "off" for the last 5-6 years. Now that I've retired, I'm playing almost daily to some extent, and loving it, mishits and all. I've learned from my first instructor years ago, to use an interlocking grip. And just getting back into it, I'm hitting some balls fat and that I it's placing a lot of force onto my pinky finger at the base. It seems the ground jams up the club when I hit fat, that torques my left hand and pulls severely on my right hand pinky. I fear if I do it enough I could cause damage, if I haven't already (i.e. stress fracture). From your video I surmise I have the interlock too deep. So to give my pinky a rest I think I'll convert to the overlap, let my pinky have a rest and try to come at it again with a less deep overlap....or alternatively keep the overlap if it works for me. I have been thinking about this a lot over the last week because my right pinky finger has been suffering. Your video helped my decision as I was worried the overlap would be a "weaker" method to hold onto the club. No problems with my hand position (strong vs. weak) just too deep of an interlock. Thanks Again from Texas.

    Hi . I've gone from 10 finger to over lap. With 10 fingers I feel I have more control but I get a little separation at the top of swing plus a sore little finger from rubbing. With the overlap I feel l have looser wrist s but less control of the club face . With the hands closer with the overlap wouldn't that make the pivot of the club longer bigger arc ect. Any help on the pros and cons would be appreciated. Cheers Orlando.

    • @markjonesgolf4615
      @markjonesgolf4615  5 років тому

      Thanks for the comment Orlando, This has to be a comfort thing, if you feel more comfortable with the overlap then stick to it and work it out from there. I tend to find that players can use there hands too much with both styles of grip, the size of you hands will also affect this. I would find which one is more comfortable, stick to it and work on the club face control with that grip.

    Ummmmm.....doesn't tiger and jack both do interlock grip? Don't think lack of strength is a factor at all for choosing a grip, particularly
    interlock. I switched from lifelong overlap to a neutral interlocking grip and it has really helped aid my club face being square at impact.
