What a great video and great idea. I used to think this kind of stuff is out of the league of a person trying to make glass stairways. Really turned out great!
Lovely job. We want to do that in our house too but I wouldn't tackle it myself in a million years in spite of watching your excellent tutorial. Keep 'em coming. Subscribed!
Thank you, definitely worth doing and it was fairly easy to do. Let me know how you get on and send some pictures if you can. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Let me know how you get on with your staircase. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
0:38 Hi, did you do the bottom section in two separate peices or just the one? I'm doing my staircase now as we speak and I'm wondering what route you would advise from experience. Many thanks, Tom
Nice job mate. I was booked to template for a customer a few months ago but they decided to move instead….. I’m not that bad of a joiner, surely 🤣 What thickness did you end up going with? That Carpet runner is amazing !!!! You need a glass baby gate now pal🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, I'm sure you're not that bad 😆 I went for 8mm in the end, I think it looks better. We're hoping not to get a baby gate but it looks like we are going to need one 🤦♂️
Thank you. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Thanks for watching and please check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Great tutorial....just what I was looking for. Just wondering, how much of a gap did you leave all round, did you trim this off after you made the templates and did you decide on the 8mm or 10mm glass in the end?
Hi mate I live near knowsley Safari Park just moved into a new property at just got wooden hardboard it looks horrendous. Where did you get your glass from and how much did you pay I know it will be different depending on how much you will need but so I can get a rough idea thanks
Extremely helpful video. Have done a full staircase DIY now i am at the stage of fitting the clamps and measuring/ordering glass. To measure the handrail clamps distance, do you copy the measurements from the baserail? Or are the measurements for handrail different?
Hi really nice job. looks great 👍🏾 can you tell me the name of the cutting tool your wife was using also what's the cost for something like this? Just materials I'll do the work myself.
Thank you, there's a link to the website where I got the carpet from in the description to the video. carpet edging UK Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
Great job. Quick question did you maintain the same gap on the sides as you did on the top and bottom of the glass once fitted. I think the brackets hold the glass about 21 mil off the edge top and bottom and wondered if that’s the gap you had on the sides. I’m doing almost an identical project.
It was toughened glass. Sorry for my late reply. Let me know how you get on with your stairs and if my video came in useful. Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing 👍🏼
Wow, looks great! What would you have done if you didn't have the full trim piece running up your stairs and had just step runs? Would you have just done smaller glass panels. Thanks....nice job!
Don't know to be honest. But you can't have a gap bigger than 100mm so the panels might have to be shaped around the steps. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Hello mate, an excellent job you’ve made of that, I’m trying to do my own measurements, I have been able to get the bottom two angles with a digital protractor, was wondering how did you get the measurements for the top two angles? Thank you
Hi great job. Exactly what I am wanting to do. One quick question what did you use to cover the old spindle holes MDF, plywood or thin finished wood? What thickness?
I used 3mm mdf to cover the bottom spindle holes and pine to fill in the groove to the underside of the handrail. Thanks for watching and please check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Thank you. Definitely worth doing and it was fairly easy to do. Let me know how he gets on. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Mate what a job amazing work indeed the guy that said terrible job i can only think he is thinking finger traps for your little one /ones our children have grown up and have their own houses and this is something i am going to do here well done keep up the great uploads buddy thanks .
You can't please everyone and it's the easiest thing in the world to criticise. We're made up with it and I'm not worried about the kids. Glad you liked it and let me know how you get on with your stairs. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Great video would have been good to provide a ball park figure for the glass panels etc but it's very educational, let my wife watch it & she's just found me another job to do 5*****
Good point, I should have priced the glass. I did get it trade price though. Sorry I've added to your to-do list but it is definitely worth doing. Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Hi would a glass shop be able to measure up and fit this for me do you think as I'm a single mum and wouldn't have a clue but I hate the spindles. Thanks

Quality job mate, we are going to do the same with our ugly looking old fashion spindles, replacing with the modern looking glass.

Excellent video!!!
We have a very similar stairwell… could I be cheeky and ask the cost of the glass? That might tempt me to give it a go 👍🏻

Just come across the invoice. It was £240 + vat but that was a year ago 👍🏼
Where did you go for the glass ?
And is it cheaper to go to a glazier for the glass than it is to go elsewhere ?
