1955 Morris Minor Traveller - Clutch Pedal Mechanism

  • While waiting for the cylinder head to return from the machine shop, I’ve been tackling a few projects in the Traveller that need attention. After the transmission and engine mounts, I figured I should deal with the VERY iffy clutch pedal, which clearly had failed bushings.
    I was able to replace the bushings, and it operates MUCH MUCH better, but because the kit from ESM was backordered, I do not have the main operating rod or the main rotating pivot that Carrie’s the bronze, rubber, and plastic bushings. That’s a bit of a shame, as the holes in the pivot and the rod itself are pretty heavily worn, making it a challenge to adjust properly. In fact, I ended up keeping a spacer someone added in years past because it’s the only way to get the pedal adjusted properly.
    Looks like I’ll be doing this job again fairly soon.
