I have memories of my time with family in Whiteleys and I was gutted when they closed it down. I can see it coming up beautifully from my terrace in Bayswater. Can’t wait to visit it again .
To think, one of those apartments I could never hope to afford was the cinema that I had my birthdays at as a kid. An entire block's worth of space that used to be open to the public, now permanently sequestered away for the super rich.
Sad indeed. I used to chill out there 25 years ago with new friends, now long lost, that I met at a hostel nearby when I was on a holiday work visa. Those memories become more precious as time goes on.
Actually (and apologies for being pedantic) but from the available layout, I think the area where the cinema complex used to stand, it will now be the Whiteley Hotel venue. However (and just for a laugh) in that same area (in the 1960s) but on the ground hall, the Whiteley's food hall was located. As very young children, my brother and I would race around causing havoc. For more details, please feel free to ask🤣 Happy memories. I now live in Maida Vale, and I'm very much looking forward to the opening of the splendid new Whiteley's (sorry, I mean The Whiteley). Plus ca change, and all the that xx
Guys, This is actually a family ancestor! Your namesake Justin, Ha! No wonder we like the finer things in life! This could be our next vacation destination as they have a lovely Hotel on site!
I have nothing to do with the company developing Whitleys. I grew up in central London and know the area very well. I wish I had the money to buy an apartment because the location is perfect, the building looks fantastic and the surrounding area is well connected by public transport. The location for transport is not explained well… Paddington Station has a fast trail service to Heathrow airport. The location could not be better if you use the airport. The area is a better part of London with investment to the surrounding area. The people who purchase a property at the Whitely will be very very lucky people.

Ditto! And it'll be great for Queensway to be vibrant again.

very true the location is excellent. Next to Hyde Park, access to Paddington Express to Heathrow and a stones through to Oxford Street and Mayfair.
