Gotta say, while I find myself more intrigued by Conquest and like those minis more, the plain and simple fun that Dan and Luke have is very convincing. Great players having great fun!
I definitely prefer KoW, surprisingly I don't really like alternating activations in rank & flank games. Probably go with whatever has a local community tbh

You can use the conquest minis in KoW. It really is an excellent challenging competitive game.

Eh Kings of War was decently popular, at least I assumed it was since it was, for a time it was basically the replacement for Old Warhammer when it got replaced by AoS, I remember some people ranting and raving about it.
@@luketfer it still is quite popular. it will not rake in 40k numbers because it doesn't have a billion video game adaptations but it's quite popular all around and is the go to solution for most rank and flank players

You should. it's a great way to use models that might not get love in other games. And if you have AoS/Fantasy armies then you already have KoW armies.
@@omnivision616 literally this. KoW single-handedly reinvigorated my hobby, when I found new use for my old models. Oldhammer is so done for me, and I never really got into 9th Age. Kings of War is fantastic.

Onepagerules, grimdark future. Another game system that's hitting critical mass in popularity and could use high production value videos like you guys make.
Best part is I know you all love 3d printing (based on the models and advertisers you use) and they have a ton of high quality minis for their gaming system.
Kings of War pretty much started the same as one page rules as alternative system and cheaper models than the gw systems where you can use your gw stuff.

I played KoW for a while when it first came out, but 1st edition was a bit broken and it put me off. Looking into the new edition, so many of the issues that I thought didn't work so well seem to have been addressed. And as others have commented, mutlibases make set up and pack away so much easier. After thoroughly enjoying this mini series (outstanding guys!), I have just dug out some old minis and gone full bore into multibasing them. Looking forward to getting back into the game ...but now I need a castle!

Huge Kings of War fan, great to see it on the channel but I do wonder if folks who don't know the game will understand the factors going into waver/rout from this?

@@willpenn966 In the interests of helping: If a unit takes one or more wounds in a turn, they'll have to make a Nerve check. This is 2d6 + Wounds versus their Waver/Rout stat, which is usually written as, say, 13/15, though some units have a gap of 3 rather than two and some units (including a lot of undead) don't have a Waver value.
Beat the corresponding value and the unit Wavers (cannot be given certain orders, including any aggressive ones) or Routs (is removed from the table).
A double 1 is always safe for the unit, a double 6 always Routs. If the unit is Inspiring or (more commonly) there's a character nearby with Inspiring, they can elect to make their opponent roll again and abide by the second roll.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of double sixes always Routing. If I do one damage to someone's big board centre Horde, there shouldn't be a 1 in 36 chance it just vanishes.
@@Thoughtsmith That's because it isn't as harsh as that -"If you roll double six when testing Nerve and the enemy unit is not Routed, it will still suffer from a result of Wavering, as insidious news of defeat starts to spread through the ranks."

@@Thoughtsmith ey it happens, had something similar happen to me with an artifact doing way more than it should have at a small local ambush tornie. Funnily enough that one thing pretty much lost me the game and meant I placed 2nd. Sometimes if something seems too good or harsh it usually isnt in the rules in kings of war haha!

Wait, I'm sorry I'm really new to this world who ended up winning? I saw the Dwarves had more points/killed pretty much everything from the northern alliance but the ice queen still teleported out at the end, so is that considered a win for the attackers or?
Does anyone know if kings of war have changed their stock or if there’s region locked, loved look of game wanted to buy some minis but when looking at their shop I just realised I can’t find any snow trolls, hell I just realised that some of the army pack show units you can’t buy singularly

Gameplay looks decent, old school WH rank and flank but my god those are the ugliest models ive ever seen in a game, like they hurt to look at. Not the paintjobs the models themselves just look horrendous. I couldnt play this game from the aesthetic alone.
I disagree. I think they look really fine.
But you actually do not need to play with Mantic minis, if you do not like them. Mantic is not forcing anyone to play with their minis.
Kings of War has rules for armies and models that corresponds to almost all of Warhammer fantasy armies. Mantic is not even producing models for these armies themselves, but they were purely made to make existing Warhammer fantasy players try and play Kings of War. You can bring all your GW models over, or use models from other companies. No problem. A lot of Kings of War players are doing that.
