  • I'll show you how to drill holes in BIG glass, keeping the drill bit right where you want it with plenty of water. Have you every tried to drill a hole in the middle of a large piece of glass only to have to drill bit skate across the glass and ruin all your hard work up to that point? Or have you tried unsuccessfully to find a container large enough to hold your BIG piece glass under water while you drilled a hole. I will show you an easy solution to both of these problems. I will also show you how I drilled a hole in a bottle and added twinkly lights for a unique decoration.

We’re novices with glass fusion and just setup a basic studio. This is sooo helpful for us. We really enjoy your teaching style; it’s always been something we look forward to and provides easy to follow directions❣️

I found that starting the drill before contact with the glass works better for me especially when starting out.

I have had good luck drilling glass just using a spray bottle. I spits the area I want to drill and start the hole. then as the drill starts getting dry, I spits it a little more. The main thing is to keep it from heating up and from clogging the hole. If the hole starts to fill with glass crud, I back the drill out and use the spray bottle to clean it out.

Hi, This is great video . I am just wondering what adaper bit I need for Dramel to be able to cut bigger holes. I have been managing small holes but I dont know how to attach big bits to Dramel. I would be gratefull for your help ,

The Dramal is too under powered to use the size of drills used in the demo. If the drill is too big to fit the chuck, you probably need a more powerful drill motor.

I can’t find an adapter for the Dremel tool to use larger bits. From what I’ve found it seems the Dremel type tools have too high of an rpm for the larger bits. So if you want to drill bigger holes you’re going to need a full sized drill.

What do you recommend if the hole is chipped. Do you put it back in the kiln with a fiber piece and then fire polish it?

Great question. If the hole will be seen (sometimes it's covered by hardware) then I would put it back in for a fire polish without any fiber. Fiber can cause a roughness and a good fire polish schedule shouldn't be hot enough to close the hole.

Thank you so much for this video. Very informative. I have a silly question about where did you get that small plastic white tray you used at the beginning of this video? I am looking for exactly that for a project of mine. Again thank you for your videos. I am new to glass fusing and find that your videos are very educational to this art form!!

Cindy Faukovic thank you! That little tray I used in the video came from a friend who works in medical in the allergy Dept. I believe they open a new tray each time an allergy patient comes in for treatment So she saves them for me. So make friends with a nurse!
