I spent a few months studying and taking practice tests online. I took detailed notes and studied for a few hours every day, I even took several practice tests too. I got to take the test near my house which was really nice, I think it was a satellite testing site or something but it was the real deal, also I was the only one there which was really nice. I was nervous a little but I gave it my best effort and scored an 85.
@@lubasegura3014 Yes, study every day a couple hours. Take notes of what you are studying. Take breaks every 20-30-60 minutes or as you feel you need them. Make sure it's focused studying. Use flash cards if that helps. Read over your notes too. Take lots of practice tests.
Hey I just passed my ASVAB test today and I used this to study. Thank you so much . I scored a 61 too
Love this, love you. Appreciate you breaking this down and appreciate you as a human even more.
This is the only asvab help video tht was actually useful THANK YOU
Great video. Now I know more about how to better prepare for and excel on the ASVAB exam.
Awesome video, and this will alleviate many people's stress
Thank you so much for this, I finally decided to join after years of switching jobs
Shipping out on Monday, scored a 98 on the ASVAB. Thank you guys for all that you do for your community! 😀
Whoa... You're a genius haha.
Good job, good luck, and thank you for your service 🫡
Thanks! for all that you do. God bless you.
Thank you for this video. My father (Marine Vet.) wants me to go as Officer but I'm thinking about Enlisting first. Thank you for the tips. I'm trying to take this test before the end of the year.
For as many videos I watched there’s so much I didn’t know.
I’m so glad I bumped into your video. I started
My process not to long ago, will be schedule for the test soon, and I have bad test anxiety , every time I think about it i started sweating badly while studying.
Thank you
I finally passed my ASVAB thanks to Mr Clark who helped me with his tutoring. He has good tips and questions for everyone willing to join his group.I was recommended to him by a friend even though it took me time to trust in him but at the end I was happy for the good work.I want to take this opportunity to tell you all to join him and trust in him despite the process. Thanks to him I had 89AFQT.After five attempt unsuccessful I finally made it.
this channel really helped me out!
Thank you so much I'm help my son get ready 4 this test this was really helpful video God bless .....your hair is beautiful btw😊
Thank you for this im a junior in high school and I was so confused on how to study for the ASVAB because of how overwhelming it looked now i know what i need to do to pass the ASVAB and get into the airforcd
Thanks very much for this video.
I got the Kaplan book version of the ASVAB and I took a diagnostic practice test in the book. Surprisingly I got a 51 in the AFQT Raw Score and made a 84 on the practice test... I’m still shocked on my practice test results thinking how in the world did I do that when I failed the practice ASVAB in the past maybe it’s because of the test anxieties but I’m still trying to overcome them and do better... but I’m still studying so I can get the job that I want...
I was drafted in 1972. They didn’t have the ASVAB test then. You were qualified for whatever the Army/Marines needed. I was very lucky because I was assigned to administration. I guess this had to do with me being a college graduate with a degree in Business Administration and I aced the “test” they gave everyone. They immediately said they wanted me to go to OCS but I said no because I didn’t want to be a 2LT in Vietnam. I simply wanted to serve my 2 year obligation and get on with my business management career.
Just imagine a different timeline where you said yes imagine where you'd wouldve ended up 😳
I took the ASVAB for fun my sophmore year of school, ended up with a 35. Looked deep into what I want to do with my life and for sure I want to be an aerospace engineer. I plan on studying through this winter break as I go on with my day and I’ll keep y’all posted on what I get next time.
I'll be taking my asvab next week I hope I score high... my family keeps picking on me as a female joining 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
@@MilleniaStone I took the practice got a 67% trying to aim for a 70% or higher. I'm female planning to join the airforce
I've been studying for months on my mathematics knowledge and arithmetic reasoning, hope I do well
Thanks this means a lot, I finally decided to join after a few years being indecisive haha
My recruiter is making me take the PICAT so this was helpful. I would actually prefer to take it over again though at MEPS idk I feel I'd do better less distractions probably. I took the paper ASVAB in high school like 7 years ago.
Man, the military loves acronyms.
Could you get us a Diet Therapy video in the works? That would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
Anyone have any tips for balancing studying for the ASVAB while in school at the same time and juggling school homework also?
I’m joining with a degree. People will say it’s not wise. I don’t care. This will open the world to me! I hope to go to Japan someday.
I got a 25. Gonna study and get back into the school mindset been out of highschool for 2 years. Finally deciding to go in the army I'll keep u all updated! I need a 50 or more for my career
I took the asvab test and fail but i will not give up. I will take this time to study and take again next year. I still have time i am just in my sophomore year in high school. This test will tell me what i need to study on. Wish me good luck!!! Kind of wish i had watch this video before i took the asvab.😂😂😅😅
This is interesting I took it 30+ years ago and I just went to the recruiter and asked if he could look up my score from then he couldn’t find it so he offered me the picat test and I said sure why not see I hurt my back and had surgery so physical labor may be done for me so I’m looking to see what I’d be good at and go from there
I swear you’re there with me every step of the way I go trying to get in the military! Would you recommend studying in areas you don't have knowledge in and don't have interest in those job fields? Like mechanics and stuff. I don't know what a spark plug is lol. But I wanna join and do things with computers. Should I even bother learning electrical and mechanical stuff?
haha, glad to be here with you!
That is a great question! Overall, I would not suggest it, but what I would do is go to our website and look at the jobs list
www.airmanvision.com/air-force-blog//all-air-force-jobs
Look at the jobs you want and see what Index (Admin, General, Electrical, Mechanical) is required for that job.
If you don't see any Electrical/Mechanical DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME STUDYING THEM
So just go check out the jobs you want, the index that is required, to see what (possible) extra things you should be studying
Bro I was literally thinking the exact thing… like jobs I’m really considering are in the general aptitude so I rather just study what I need to and what’s relevant.
@@daryljackson4070 I took my ASVAB and went through MEPs last week. I got a 67 and felt pretty bad that I scored so “low" because I’m usually a straight a student but I qualified for every job I wanted and more and so I guess it doesn’t really matter. I didn’t study that hard and just took a practice test the week before
My recruiter is going to have me take the picat before I go to meps. We’ll see how it goes
i’m a sophomore in high school as of now and i’m planning to take a small break after senior graduation and enlist into the army. i’m trying to get a lonnggg nice head start on preparation of anything i need to be able to make this become reality 😭 wish me luck frl
I’ve not taken my ASVAB yet, I got a 92 on the pre-quiz, but I believe I will be taking the PiCAT based on the initial meeting I had with my recruiter.
Got an 89 on my picat (78 on my asvab pretest) mind you was homeless for awhile and when i took it was hungry, dirty and tired.
I used logical reasoning for the math part cuz i couldn't remember the formulas.
And my highest was comprehension and such
I was suppose to be at MEPS today was suppose to take the asvab yesterday but got this small rash now have to wait till it’s clears up
Last Tuesday took the Picat on my recruiter’s office. I got a 67! 😁
@@raquellopez174 the PiCat IS your ASVAB, it is just the version you take. So yes. It won't necessarily let you pick your job. Your score just shows you and your recruiter what jobs you qualify for and then you make your job list from there
You finally joined? Congrats
Can I use the asvab for dummys book to study for the AFQT?
A recruiter called me and straight up told me to go to the station the next day, didn’t even let me study
If I make flash cards are the questions the same on test or just similar?
As soon as you finish talking about ads one came out 😂
I passed my Asavbs I had a 39 and I’m trying to join the Army but but my recruiter said my score I don’t qualify for me for a job and my question is what do I need to I’m to do to improve my score lines.
is there any website or any books you suggest to practice or study for asvab? some say its just basic knowledge. but i wanna practice just in case.
Can someone explain to me PICAT and MEPS, Please. Thanks a lot.
I got my job and ship date!! ua-cam.com/video/XP4LOA73zqI/v-deo.html
I took my ASVAB 3 days ago. Got a 99, first try, without studying at all. AMA
anyone know if the canadian military takes the same tests?
Do You know any books on automotive and shop ? That i can Buy?
How many of the questions that were on the practice test were on the real test ?
what did you score on your mathematics and arithmetic reasoning after studying
I got a 61 on my afqt and a 49 on my picat stills need to try and get a better score to become a flight engineer
Was the afqt easier or had a better “flow” than the picat? I noticed my scores from the picat went: 32> 36 > 57 > 37
I purchased the same book for dummies as well my question is the same questions of the test in the book I know not all will be on the test however will some questions in the actual asvab be identical as in the book or will everything be re worded because what I’m doing I’m memorizing the tests in the book
On the practice afqt I got an 82:)
My recruiter liked my scores and said I could have just about any job I want. My scores were as follows:
Admin = 65
General = 85
Electrical = 95
Mechanical = 95
He tried to steer me into being a jet mechanic or radar repairman. I kept telling him I want something computer based. He finally found something interesting - Analog Flight Simulator Technician (guaranteed job). The school is 8 months long. He said the next class does not start for another 5 months. So I ended up doing a 3 month Delayed Enlistment Program. That made it so I could finish basic (about 2 months) and go straight to my tech school at Chanute Illinois. It all worked out great. I did have to do about 2 weeks in "Casual" at Lackland to slightly adjust my arrival at Chanute.
@@DeathDestroyer90 I was 22 when I signed up. I did not study specifically for the test. I think the fact that I loaded up on industrial arts classes in high school was the biggest help. I had a natural curiosity about anything technical (still do). In high school I took every available semester of Auto Shop, Electronics, Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Drafting etc. I wasn't planning on enlisting after high school - that decision came later.
After passing Meps how many time to u ship to basic training?
Any more tips on learning word knowledge?
I didn’t know that some people had to study for the asvab, when I took it I only did it to get out of the state testing, I got an 82 and 7 months later I’m an enlisted future soldier and leave for boot camp August 26
Good luck, I just swore in to the Air Force DEP a couple days ago with a 95 on my ASVAB, hoping I can get my job
Where do I take the practice asvab
My MAGE scores was 94 99 99 50
How should I study for the EDPT? I want to go into cyber security. Great video.
So if I scored 30 on AFQT but scored High on MC and ELEC, AUTO. will those help bump up my score averagely and still qualify for the job i wanted?
No, only the AFQT categories make up your ASVAB score. Scoring higher in the other categories just show you what job groups you would be best at, based off of your knowledge
You need to look at the jobs you want, then see what overall score you need www.airmanvision.com/air-force-jobs
Then you need to study the AFQT categories you are weaker in to bring up your score
@@AirmanVision That all make sense now. Thanks a lot! You guys are awesome
How strict is the air force on medical backgrounds? If your on meds is that gonna be an issue?
Thank you, You have a nice head shape by the way
I still have to take the asvab and I keep falling it hopefully this video helps
Went to see the recruiter and took the practice test and I failed it with a 25, needed a 40 to pass. Kind of discouraged rn. The arithmetic be the most challenging sub tests along with the math knowledge
Somebody told me to take the CAT instead of the ASVAB because it’s easier. Fact or false?
CAT IS the ASVAB...it's just the type of test. (CAT-ASVAB)
That is actually the only one they are offering,
The other version would be paper and pencil. Usually you take P&P (paper and pencil) in high school.
CAT (Computerized Adaptive Testing) just means you take the ASVAB on the computer. That is what you do at MEPS
I would say False. One isn't harder than the other
MEPS in 7 hours wish me lucj
I struggle with math. When I took the test and math was the only thing that kept me from joining, I was 2 points off.
Its best to not study for aptitude batteries... kind of throws off the whole test.
So I have a question about the word knowledge there’s literally 100,000+ words in the world😭🤣 I’ve been studying so many different vocabulary words but for all I know non of the words I’ve studied will even be on the test so how do I properly study for that? Just keep doing what I’m doing?
I took my asvab an made it thanks to Mr clark who helped me with tutoring. He has good tips and questions which can enable you have atleast 89points.I studied with him for 2weeks and made it.
I scored exactly an 84 too, I only studied for like a couple weeks and I felt the book I bought didn’t help at all tbh
Wish your video was available In 1980 when I joined up. They kept a lot of secrets from us. Rainbow 🌈 Rainbow 🌈 don't be blue. My recruiter screwed me too
I wanna join the Air Force but I can’t because of my hearing
I passed my Asavbs I had a 39 and I’m trying to join the Army but my recruiter said my line scores doesn’t qualify me for a job and my question is what do I need to do to improve on because I’m going to retake it again.
Is there a possibility of taking the ASVAB without having to associate with a branch ? That way we can choose the branch of our choice when you pass ?
that is actually a really good question! Typically people take the ASVAB in high school and if you join soon after high school you're able to use that score, but unfortunately after that you have to go through a recruiter to get one scheduled
@@AirmanVision I wish we could do things that way . Not everyone has the ability to join out of highschool either. Everyone's journey and story is different
Hi
I know this was posted a year ago but I was wondering if some the questions you studied came on your test
how long did you study for asvab like 3 weeks are enough ??
graduation requirement😔
Can a person with a speech impediment join the military
If you can get past MEPS. I've met a few people in Army with speech impediments and even I myself stutter quite a bit.
Isn’t it a minimum of 52 to get into the Marines?? It was when I went in.
Didn't study we had taken it in school like it or not. One period in multi purpose room no notice etc. Everyone in grade had to take it. If you liked it or not
i got an 11 on the practice asvab 😳
Jajajaja! LMFAO. That is ok. Keep practicing and you will do better next time you take it.
I did the test 2 weeks ago but I scored low! My recruiter told me that I will do it again in 2 weeks.
Everything was difficult 😕 word knowledge, electronics, mechanical and so on
How can I do? Please help 🙏
Just shows how much our education system is failing. I walked in at the age of 17 in 1997 between my Junior and Senior year of high school. Didn't study anything extra or do a practice test and I scored in the top 1% of the nation with a score of over 110. And I can guarantee the test is way easier today than it was then.
Air force is no longer 35, last i spoke to someone they said its a 50 score
My practice afqt was like 36 🥲
that's okay!! 36 is passing, but def take your time to study and improve your score to help you qualify for more jobs!
@@AirmanVision wow didnt even knew yall replied. Im trying to get to MEPS by the end of july. Your video really helps alot so i wanna say thank you!
You need a 31 to join the air force
Incorrect. You need a 36 minimum. Regardless, you’re not qualifying for very much jobs with the minimum score anyway.
do they drug test at the ASVAB testing?
No that’s only on the physical the next day after the ASVAB or when ever they schedule your physical.
Lmfao jus stop smoking fam aint worth risking a disqualification for life. And thats coming from a 6+ year weed smoker. Just stop🤣

Them AFQT scores are off
Army, Marines, and Navy-31
Air Force 35
Coast guard 45
Army-86 and Marines-85 MM
Air force women are always so attractive....
1) Take a practice test before doing anything else. Start to finish with the same time parameters as the real test.
2) Heavily focus on the section/s that you didn't do too hot in, less so on the section/s you did well in.
3) Ensure that you have the two math and two English sections down, as these comprise your AFQT on the test.
4) Look up what the testing requirements are for the jobs that you personally want to do, and also focus on those sections of the test to ensure you do well in those areas so you can actually be eligible for those jobs in question.
General: Verbal Expression (Word Knowledge + Paragraph Comprehension) + Arithmetic Reasoning
Mechanical: Mechanical Comprehension + General Science + (2x) Auto and Shop Info
Administrative: Verbal Expression
Electrical: General Science + Arithmetic Reasoning + Mathematics Comprehension + Electronic Info
I essentially did those few things myself, and I ended up with a 98 AFQT (99G, 99A, 98M, 95E). Also, not stressing before and during the test is pretty paramount to you doing well too. Easier said than done I know, but it can really make a world of difference going in with a clear head.
Just my two cents. Take it or leave it.
Where I can take a practice test?
This is great advice….
I’ve been looking up different strategies for my son who gets extremely nervous while testing.
He took the practice test and didn’t do well on the word knowledge part. I’m going to show him your message so he could stop being so nervous.
What about ST?
How did you study for word knowledge?
