Gravity. But you have pointed out how dangerous electrocution can be. You can’t let go of the thing that’s killing you.
It would make more sense if the current was D.C. because D.C. current usually induces a singular contraction which can cause you to quote on quote "fly away" from the source, where as A.C. does the opposite and induces multiple contractions due to the "alternating" part of the current. But considering most sockets output A.C. current, that would mean he would most likely have had multiple contractions, but as the person above me said, most likely gravity and the weight of his body on the knife.

You've clearly never watched house before.
But one question, if God decides to put someone in such as situation that they do not want to live anymore, why would killing themselves be seen as a sin? What if, you were forced to either kill your friend or kill yourself, and you did the later, why wouldn't you go to heaven?
