Everything Asaf does is his and he doesn't sound like anyone but Asaf. He is a true gift and totally unique. Asaf always makes me feel and feel deeply. I love the poetry of this song. I actually love all of them. I never tire of him or his music.
Was at his concert in Copenhagen in December. It was a fantastic experience to see how he built up each track with his loops. Only once did he have to start over because he came in crooked. Asaf is really impressive
Thanks for the reaction🙏 A wonderful understanding of the complexity and beauty of Assaf Avidan's music. I've been a fan of Assaf for more than ten years now and enjoy seeing people discover him for the first time... I loved seeing how you listen with great concentration and pick up on the little details, good job! I think the most enjoyable thing about this song is that at first it seems crazy and then you realize Assaf is in complete control every second of the song. He knows exactly what he is doing and what emotion he wants to convey at every moment. The man is a genius.
Thank you for covering Asaf. Hes brilliant isnt he? Yes, no rules with this artist. I could tell you enjoyed this so much that you just have to hear more. Hes so talented on many instruments. Thanks again! Eta: In a Box series: 900 Days. (It will blow your mind)
Yes! I'm so glad you've been introduced to the massive talent that is Asaf Avidan. I learned about him when Ren recommended one of his songs from the Box III series and then went on a journey of discovery of Asaf. He is unique and super skilled on guitar and piano, looping and singing. I consider Asaf to be Ren's sophisticated older brother because they are both so creative. Good, good stuff. I would like to suggest you react to "900 Days (In A Box III Version). Cheers!
Thank you for this reaction! Ren turned me on to this guy's talent. I highly recommend Small Change Girl (the live version shot in sepia tones). You will love it!
When it comes to pure voice colour I always get reminded of Janis Joplin and/or Robert Plant, depending on the song. On "Bang Bang" he also sounds a lot like Jim Morrison.
Oh, I'm so happy you really liked this! 🤩🤩It feels nice to be able to give something back to you, your reactions and analyses are fantastic. This is his original song. Asaf is 44 years old, born in Israel and now living in southern Europe, he started doing music when he was 26. I found him last year and this has never even been my style of music, however, Asaf quickly hijacked my brain and made me deep dive into his catalogue. He's very versatile and not classically trained, doesn't read notes or anything. He goes by feeling and doesn't much care for it to sound pretty, he just wants to share emotions in whatever way. Like you said, it's very primal. And always with deep lyrics too. His "In a Box-series" is him doing different versions of his own songs, live and with no editing afterwards. More Asaf? Sure! Suggestion: Little Parcels of an Endless time (In a box III), Rock of Lazarus (In a Box III), The Labyrinth song (In a box II).
Ren sent his followers to Asaf, and we are SO glad he did. Such an amazing artist. Your eyes gave away the shock of his voice. 😲 The more you watch his work, the deeper the fascination grows. Right up your street in so many ways. I think you've found your spirit animal. 😊 Thanks Izzy! I'd also like to mention the artist LP, and the band Kaleo as stops along your musical journey.
Great tune. It reminds me a good bit of Rainer Ptacek (RIP) a dobro player/singer. UA-cam has a video of him on Jools Holland show. I'm digging your channel. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
"Did not expect that voice" everybody's reaction 😂, mine too, but I love it already ❤ Btw, did you notice the snapping of the anchor at the end? It makes so much sense with the lyrics. Thanks for your reaction, subbed for more Ren and Asaf ❤
I don't mean this as insulting to Asaf although some may think that way because the guy I'm about to talk about was singing for comedic effect at the time but... When I first heard Asaf his voice did remind me of someone but I couldn't place who it was for days, then finally I realised... it was the amazing Michael Ritter when he played the cabaret singer in the Robin Williams/Jeff Bridges movie "The Fisher King". Remember when he sang "Everything's coming up videos" to Amanda Plumber? ... Yeah sorry everyone but hey, it was a great performance by a wonderful person and actor who's sadly no longer with us and it was in one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life, so yeah, Asaf reminded me of him, it's all love. UA-cam search "Everything's coming up Lydia" for context or go watch a great movie.
@@IzzyIzenstain You are in for a treat, if you like it though, also check out "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" same director (Terry Gilliam) and also Heath Ledger's last film, it also has Colin Farrell, Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Andrew Garfield. Magical journey's both of them. :D
900 days/rock of lazarus/love it or leave it/her lies/one day/Bang bang/ Lost horse(the live version in paris) and many many more of him❤❤❤ Thank U for your reaction❤
Prior to you likening his voice to Rose, Parton, and Prince, I didn't much care for his voice. Now I'm listening more closely. Thanks, Izzy. I love your analyses.
WOW! Love this song! Vocals are so good, the music was captivating....His voice reminded me of Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette..... But also his vocal delivery reminds me of Ruby J, She has been collaborating with Ren and is going to be star of the future, She has an amazing blues / jazz voice. Thanks Izzy
I can see that, Cheryl! I'm familiar with Joan Jett, used to play a few songs from The Runaways first album when DJing. Actually, maybe they only made one, I can't remember.
Asaf sounds like Asaf. No one like him. You really can feel the words literally. period. Creativity. Song writing. Musicianship. Say what? Dolly Parton.. not in my opinion. Another music genius named Ren wanted us to listen and follow. Ie Dirt Miller, Chinchilla ( now Chinchilla is unique) all the artists he recommends are one of a kind. Like Ren is...

Some of jenis jouplin vocals and soul
Some of Bob dylan delivery poetry and truth
in the end his own unique creative artist
Our fenomenal Asaf 💙🇮🇱🙏
Asaf .. what a master musician
Asaf and his magic. Works every time.
Intelligent consideration of what makes this great. Awesome for a first encounter with a strikingly unique artist.

Welcome to Asaf . The Genius. Please react to ' 900 days ' In A Box III.
I'll do some more of his soon. I've got that one on the list with a few tallies now. Thanks Maddalena!
Her Lies, Reckoning Song, Bang Bang, 900 Days. And many more but those are a great start with the In a Box performances.
Saw him in concert in Paris 7 years ago. He was amazing! He's a true artist.
It's cool to see you enjoying 😇✌️
Nice! Was it an intimate venue?

I'll have to check that one out!
I almost immediately thought of Janis from the timbre and color of the voice, but also the transmission of feeling and passion
This is actually pretty cool
I love his odd voice fr

LP is another amazing artist; the live cover of Beyonce's song halo is extraordinary.
Thanks Bonnie! I'll make a note of those.

Asaf Avidan,

900 days seems to be a popular request. I'll do another one soon.

Asaf Avidan - sweet Babylon live need to listen 😊
I've recorded a reaction to the studio version. Will be out on the 15th.
He sounds like that female vocalist that Ren was playing with when he taped a jammin session. I can't recall her name though.
Do you mean Ruby J? If so i thought the same.
RubyJ and she's young and she's going to go places!
@@hollyryalsgrubb1273 Agree Ruby J is amazing and going to be a star.

His voice cannot be compared to anyone...His vocal range is insane- with lots of texture and so powerful and uniq.his
voice is a roller coaster💞
Thanks Barzo! Tammy Wynette is a good comparison I didn't think of. Nice one. Ruby J sounds interesting too. Will maybe look into her.
I believe this is in a Chateau. One of his influences is Leonard Cohen.
