I used to be a flex player more than 6000 hours on this game, zen main, played every single tank and healer, now I'm just commited to Doomfist, never had so much fun in my life, I don't get mad anymore if my team just sucks or doesn't wanna group or whatever, I don't care about if my healer is just pocketing her boyfriend, if my dps doesn't counter this or that, if the balance team wanted to buff a boring character like Mauga to sell skins or impair this one or that one. I would say that in general, Doomfist is very demanding on knowledge, positionment and decision making, I'm learning more about the game that I ever did, more than I learned when I was doing scrims with an organized team in OW1 when I play other roles it shows. Maybe some people start doing the same, and finally instalock widow, genji or whatever they wanna play and have fun. I currently have a 62 winrate on him in comp, still switch in the other roles.

I'm tired of having to constantly swap based on enemy picks. I'd rather just play who I feel like. Juno one day, Lifeweaver the next, then Symmetra or Sombra. Whatever feels fun at the time
It's funny that this video was recommended to me since I had this girl on Mercy last night. Omg, she was getting dived constantly, so I had to babysit her on JunkerQueen instead of her going to Brig to counter the dive, but no LMFAO.
Some people play the game to have fun and their fun is the one character they know. Just because it’s boring for you, doesn’t mean they are not having fun. Sure they might not climb ranked, but at least they are enjoying the game the way THEY want to, not the way YOU want them to.
Like I said to me it is boring to just restrict yourself to one character but imo it’s frustrating if you have that one trick widow who won’t swap but can’t hit her shots I understand if people do like to one trick but to me I personally just couldn’t understand because you’re restricting yourself so much
The problem with most otps is that even though they have 100+ hours on one character, they still won't understand the counters and team synergy, even a bad player who plays with the team is more useful than a otp tank that lets their whole team alone to just try to kill one person. For some reason its more dps and tanks, especially widow, genji, doom, rein, etc, honestly its kinda sad because the game has too much emphasis on counter play, i have seen matches where the enemy tank will go back to swap to counter and vice versa. In other games it's different due to how some mechanics work, like in pvzgw2 there are different varitants and you can have a different variant of the same character on your team, valorant has different guns that complement certain playstyles, but as you said even if you are great at the character it won't make up to the non synergy and vulnerability of the team.
I'm a one trick widow. My motivations for playing widow specifically is the uphill battle that comes with it, and also how she has the highest carry potential of any DPS. When someone picks widow before me or I off role, I support them in any way I can, because I know how terrible it can feel to play widow, and how much hate they can get. I made another account to learn other characters so I'll play against them better. If teammates ask me to swap, I don't get mad unless their reasoning is stupid (complaining about me not doing damage when I get 2 picks per fight comes to mind) I'm not very high ranked, only plat, but I basically only have fun on widow, so I'm going to play only widow.
I also have the most fun on Widow. Though, if you're doing bad your team will hate you but if you're doing good the enemy team will absolutely despise you and everything you love. I don't know how you play widow into sombra and ball/doom, at that point a basically have to switch lol
@@fireant2k991 with Sombra/ball/doom, you are really reliant on your supports, and you need to be in a place where they can help you. In lower level lobbies, you may need to basically stack on top of them, since their reaction time won't be as good. If the cases of ball/doom, you need to be really conservative with your grapple and positioning, only really using it to grapple towards the core of your team so that further diving you can be fatal.

Im a masters ball too that recently started playing junker queen. It’s very simple for me why I play ball for so long. If I wanted to play a revolver, I do Fallout, shotgun I go cod or Fortnite, but a guy who uses HIMSELF as a weapon is so novel that it’s amazing. I also LOVE being the underdog and ball is constantly forgotten but I’m making sure that ball players proposer. Plus Support is the most impactful role so they should switch first. Bite me.

Tanks do everything in the game dps just spectators and supp try to help the boss while he tries to dominate the lobby or get dominated by the other tank I've been struggling on supp for seasons then I go w my 40h on tank only knowing how to play 3 tanks but I 9/10 my placements and get a higher rank than the role I have 300h on Yea obv supp is the most impactful role while bro is playing the role of two people at once

But yea some supports are a bit more “fair and outplayable” like Juno and mercy. The enemy could have an enemy Muaga that’s insane but anti plus a discord opens up the chance to actually kill him.
i’m not a mercy otp, i consider myself “mercy main” since i have almost 800h on her and about 200h on kiri and moira, but here is my perspective. i was playing mercy since 2017 and she is one of my favourite characters because of movement and kinda chill gameplay. i simply love her. i was playing ow1 casually and now i stick more to the comp. it’s truly a wonderful goal for me to reach higher rank playing mercy only, after all i log in to have fun and enjoy my games, and i truly enjoy them while playing mercy. kiri/moira/illari and etc are just not so fun for me. though i flex sometimes, because i’m getting bored or enemies put too much pressure on me, i still pick mercy to reach my personal goal and feel satisfaction. i know it can sound pretty much egoistic and though some can say that i don’t play with my team, our comp doesn’t need mercy bla bla bla but still i think that having a decent mercy otp is better than having a dps main that decided to play tank for the first time of his life. all in all, i think that stacking with friends is a way to avoid randoms, unwanted otps and overall enjoy the game more. solo queening can be a terrible experience not only because of otps, but because of random (sometimes even new (hello plat/diamond) players
As a one trick Lucio, I for the most part do not have problems with one tricks I have gotten to top 300 on console one tricking Lucio, but Lucio is a very versatile hero being able to flex and bend to different archetypes, I am very used to getting flame for existing, but I always seem to make it work. I have started to learn more of the support role in general being able to switch to main healer, but I love Lucio and will probably keep maining him
Also for me, I love Lucio because he has such a high skill ceiling and mastering movement along with mechanics and everything. I love Lucio for the skill ceiling and that’s why I hate certain characters like Moira that have low skill and can get really good value out of for doing nothing.

I'd honestly take a DPS or Support OTP than a Tank OTP on my team any day. Having a DPS/Support OTP is infinitely more manageable than having a Tank OTP. Seeing your DVA refuse to swap despite the team having a Zarya, Sym, Cassidy, Brig, and Moira (this has actually happened to me once) is debilitating and you've pretty much lost. Atleast with a Mercy OTP, you can kinda play around it. It still does suck though :(

Had a QP match on Route 66 the other day where me on Sombra and my friend on Lucio made it our mission to focus the enemy widow and our Mercy went and typed 'team?' in match chat. I typed that we were diving the Widow and I get the feeling that if we didn't manage to make the Widow switch off and win, they would have had a couple more words to type. It feels like you're missing out on the main thing with this game when you one trick. I'll put a bunch of time on one character for the progression stuff but I still gotta change it up once in a while.
Yeah tbh I don’t mind OTPS until their character isn’t working and we need to try something new Imo it’s just kinda annoying that because there’s an OTP the rest of the team needs to bend to their will

Top 500 doomfist one trick here. Didn’t watch video but I’ll easily argue one tricking made me a better player to the point that counters don’t even matter anymore, it just makes the game unfun for everyone (sombra). People don’t realize that instead of counter swapping like a braindead person, you can get so good with a hero that you can work around whatever comp the other team has. The only times I struggle are in long/open maps as doomfist which aren’t too common in Overwatch.
Tbh I can see your point but not everyone has the time to do so or just not everyone can do that there’s like a lot of learning involved to do so but Imma actually use my chem class to give an example but finding the chem formula was extremely difficult for me almost impossible but I had to put almost 10-13 hours a week to do problems understand it and find a pattern I can’t do that with Overwatch just because of my own time commitments it’s a lot of effort that not a lot of us can do 🫡

I hop on overwatch for one reason, to play wrecking ball. I think his kit and abilities are unrivaled in terms of fun to be had. Why play the game if I can’t play the character I want? Whenever I see another player who refuses to switch, I just say “yeah I’d do the same”.

Ahh someone actually commented on this but I’ll give you my 2 cents in the matter I can see how OTPing against their counters to get better is useful But imo it takes a lot of time and effort that not everyone can commit to. I’ll give my chem example I didn’t understand how to find chemical formulas using the symbol like Zn couldn’t understand it I spent 10-13 hours doing practice problems in order to get better and understand Thinking of that some people cannot commit 10-13 hours or even more to get better it’s a huge time commitment now if people are doing it to improve okay fair enough all the power to them but it’s for sure a learning process like I said this is just imo but if they wanna do that to improve I’d rather theyd do the process in Qp and Comp rather than just Comp like I said it’s just how I see it like currently I cannot commit so much time into Overwatch because I have bigger fish to fry (my biology exam LOL)
Me and my friend have one term for being countered as a one trick. Putting the game in hard mode. I understand this in quickplay, but cmon... In comp too? It's comp! We're here to win! If youre trying to beat Minecraft for the first time, you know what hardcore mode is? Throwing. You're throwing the run, there's simply no other way to see it ESPECIALLY in a team game with synergistic abilities.

Peoples problem with sombra over tracer is the skill. Tracer can be equally as annoying if not more but at least the person playing them has to actually consistently execute to get value. Vs a sombra to hides in stealth for the perfect timing
You buy the game, you play what you want. You get matched and lose because of a one-trick than that happens, does it happen more often than it might be a skill isue on your side. Your team mates chance in your games, the only one that doesnt is you. Ppl didnt buy the game (ow1, ow2 just free download) to fill your needs but they did to play what they want. I am a lucio otp and challenged myself to climb by playing him only, it took some time but i got in top 500 eventualy. It was the most fun i had in ow and thats the experience i wanted out of this game. Would it be easier to play other characters, yes, were there ppl complaining about me, hell yes, did i still have fun and finished my challange, god yes. Let ppl do the things they want to and focus on your own gameplay. At the same time is a jack of all traites but master to non person also annoying when they get outmatched. In short if you want someone to switch, ask nicely, if they dont want to than to bad. Do you lose lots of games and you blame team mates take a look at yourself first. On my original account, I had over 6k hours between 1 and 2 on console. Out of those 6k hours? Over 5300 hours of it was JUNKRAT. ALONE. So, yes I am a Junkrat OTP. Although, it's about muscle memory with how being an OTP works. I would use Reaper and old Bastion (I can't play the new Bastion for shit lol) when someone else would use Junk. If Junk didnt work that round I'd jump on Reaper. But it's such a muscle memory switch that it takes a second to adjust. I had to take some time off of OW2 and all games for a mental health break (not because the game was fucking my mental health lol). But I totally get your statements. I have had 50+ Elims in a game? And we still lost. 🤦🤦🤦 I am usually mid-gold to low plat. But my skills say different lol

I hop on overwatch for one reason, to play wrecking ball. I think his kit and abilities are unrivaled in terms of fun to be had. Why play the game if I can’t play the character I want? Whenever I see another player who refuses to switch, I just say “yeah I’d do the same”.
What's your opinion on the value of one tricking against adversity and disadvantage, in order to get better? You did touch on it but I'd like to hear a more in-depth pov.
I would also say that it also goes towards the dislike of counter swapping.
I get your main disdain are against poor and obnoxious one tricks, but I'd like to hear your opinion on these.

I can see how OTPing against their counters to get better is useful
But imo it takes a lot of time and effort that not everyone can commit to. I’ll give my chem example I didn’t understand how to find chemical formulas using the symbol like Zn couldn’t understand it I spent 10-13 hours doing practice problems in order to get better and understand
Thinking of that some people cannot commit 10-13 hours or even more to get better it’s a huge time commitment now if people are doing it to improve okay fair enough all the power to them but it’s for sure a learning process like I said this is just imo but if they wanna do that to improve I’d rather theyd do the process in Qp and Comp rather than just Comp like I said it’s just how I see it like currently I cannot commit so much time into Overwatch because I have bigger fish to fry (my biology exam LOL)
Me and my friend have one term for being countered as a one trick. Putting the game in hard mode. I understand this in quickplay, but cmon... In comp too? It's comp! We're here to win! If youre trying to beat Minecraft for the first time, you know what hardcore mode is? Throwing. You're throwing the run, there's simply no other way to see it ESPECIALLY in a team game with synergistic abilities.
1 trick synergies are op. It's game over for the enemy team😂
You pick on Mercy's cause theyre by far the most common one trick, dont feel bad about it
W vid as usual. Also yeah, always gotta be paired with the one trick that doesn't try to help the team. If I'm losing cause I'm getting counter picked and they keep rolling my team, for sure I'm gonna switch.

i dont have a problem with other people onetricking in regards to their performance in the match - however its just such a boring way to play - its like restricting yourself to only one class of weapons in Terraria, youre just outright cutting yourself off from experiencing everything the game has to offer
okay but I wanna hear your opinions on people who are SUPER into hating characters + the people who play them. (specifically Mercy, Sombra, and Kiriko bc I feel like they get ALL the hate when someone like fuckin tracer exists. tracer is way worse than Sombra and no one can change my mind)
Peoples problem with sombra over tracer is the skill. Tracer can be equally as annoying if not more but at least the person playing them has to actually consistently execute to get value. Vs a sombra to hides in stealth for the perfect timing

You buy the game, you play what you want. You get matched and lose because of a one-trick than that happens, does it happen more often than it might be a skill isue on your side. Your team mates chance in your games, the only one that doesnt is you. Ppl didnt buy the game (ow1, ow2 just free download) to fill your needs but they did to play what they want. I am a lucio otp and challenged myself to climb by playing him only, it took some time but i got in top 500 eventualy. It was the most fun i had in ow and thats the experience i wanted out of this game. Would it be easier to play other characters, yes, were there ppl complaining about me, hell yes, did i still have fun and finished my challange, god yes. Let ppl do the things they want to and focus on your own gameplay. At the same time is a jack of all traites but master to non person also annoying when they get outmatched. In short if you want someone to switch, ask nicely, if they dont want to than to bad. Do you lose lots of games and you blame team mates take a look at yourself first. And at last let ppl enjoy this silly game the way they want, aint nothing wrong with some silly choices or otp.
Why people hate otps? cuz theyre lazy people who when new to the game found theyre able to win on said characters and never tried other heros or gave them even the chance and you think they know everything aboht their hero nope they dont they play it like somone who has 30h while they have 3000 (other wise they wouldnt be in my rank considering how much time they have on the game)
Also you dont think they have the motivation to win they just autopilot their (mostly) easy hero and expect their team to carry when enemy is countering and sweating their buttcheeks off while bro is flying on mercy or getting perma hacked as ball making 0 space etc

On my original account, I had over 6k hours between 1 and 2 on console. Out of those 6k hours? Over 5300 hours of it was JUNKRAT. ALONE. So, yes I am a Junkrat OTP. Although, it's about muscle memory with how being an OTP works. I would use Reaper and old Bastion (I can't play the new Bastion for shit lol) when someone else would use Junk. If Junk didnt work that round I'd jump on Reaper. But it's such a muscle memory switch that it takes a second to adjust. I had to take some time off of OW2 and all games for a mental health break (not because the game was fucking my mental health lol). But I totally get your statements. I have had 50+ Elims in a game? And we still lost. 🤦🤦🤦 I am usually mid-gold to low plat. But my skills say different lol
