    Sir, can you please tell a lay person like me who's into music how to recognise the curve and associated notes as I can sing the curves just by listening and not by recognising the notes which lead to the curve. If possible make videos of varnams highlighting the notes of the curves. It'll be very helpful for students like me to know the nuances of that particular Varnam from a great teacher like you sir🙏🙏🙏

    • @cmusicdude
      @cmusicdude  Рік тому +1

      Truth Seeker - the fact that you are asking such a sophisticated question already proves that you are *not* a lay listener by any means! :-) My personal experience has been that *analyzing* the notes that go into a gamaka is an exercise better left to academics! If we spend time dissecting every gamaka into its constituent notes, life will be too short to make much progress. A more practical approach is to learn by observation and reproduction. Improvement will be slow so this needs patience over years to slow down a phrase, reproduce it and figure out why it "sounds" wrong, then improve it. In industrial engineering, this may be called as "continuous improvement"! I will think about a video to explain this. Thanks for a great question.

      @@cmusicdude Thanks a ton for the reply and wonderful insights sir🙏🙏. Once again the same request from my side sir. Please make more videos of varnams as we can learn a lot just by listening to your beautiful rendition and the sheer dedication with which you sing them🙏🙏

    • @cmusicdude
      @cmusicdude  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your comment, Aishwarya. One suggestion - try to reproduce raga phrases without notation as much as possible. The reason is we should improvise using raga intuition, and not sing by rote. Hope that makes sense. I honestly can't even remember what I sing from one time to the next! :-)
