- This was an undertaking to say the least. But I found the perfect disc...for me :). It goes without saying that it might be a different one for you. But we really hope you´ll enjoy the video. And do let us know what disc you love! /Jonathan

Hey! Here's some very nice stuff for you 😀🤘 /Jonathan
bit.ly/47CrPnG
I loved how quickly Thomas went from excited for him to throw the fuse, only to be disappointed that he turned it over so badly. That disc is so money thrown smooth.
Agree with you. The fuse, especially the JohnE McCray team series, is my absolute favorite disc from Latitude 64
This dude is pushing the media to a great new level! Very good job!
Do you mean “medium”?
I just started playing about 2 months ago. I am 56 years old and not nearly as strong as I used to be! The Diamond was a game changer for me! I picked up a Pearl yesterday and was thoroughly impressed!
I LOVE this video content! I can’t begin to tell you how much this brutally honest venture into disc golf for a beginner is what happens to most beginners but too many manufacturers push what the pros use and it turns people off to disc golf. Thank you Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, and Westside Discs for helping new players choose the right disc. I highly recommend the Maverick, Diamond, Maul, Witness, or Underworld for beginners. I think the new Vandal is a great step up from there once you can throw nose down flat. Personally I think learning to throw midranges straight and starting with the Gatekeeper, Fuse, Truth, or Claymore is a great start. I’ve already converted a few new players from throwing drivers to the Gatekeeper at my local shorter course by being deadly accurate with the Gatekeeper and being able to throw just about every shot needed with just that one mold on different angles or a different plastic. The Pure, Marshal, Deputy, Maiden, Judge, and Crown all make good throwing putters to learn with as well. The deputy requires a lot more finesse but it also doubles as a GREAT putter for beginners to pros who spin putt. As for putters it’s all about feel and style so pick what feels comfortable first. If your a spin putter Deputy, Pure, Maiden, Judge, Keystone, or a Warden. If you push putt a Warden, Guard, Macana, Keystone, or a Dagger. If you have no idea what you do start with a Keystone or a Warden and branch out from there. I LOVE the way Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, and Westside Discs approaches marketing and growing the sport.
Yup, well said. I was suckered into buying high speed distance drivers when I first started. Ok I wasn't literally suckered......I didn't know any better and my lack of disc golf knowledge had me assuming the higher the speed rating, the faster it would fly out of my hand. Now that I have the knowledge to know better, I went from throwing discs like the Destroyer and Boss to something more manageable like a Leopard 3 on most holes, and if it's super long I throw a Valkyrie which is like an 8 or 9 speed. Definitely much, much, much easier for me to control a Valkyrie and I'm honestly not losing much distance.
Diamond, river, pearl and ruby are my favourite discs for my 50 yr old throwing arm and I just started 3 yrs ago. I throw both sidearm and backhand.
the Pure is my favorite putter by far, both for putting and throwing. Saint is a fantastic driver, I've been throwing it forehand a lot recently.
I really thought he was going to go with the Diamond. Good to get a perspective like this from a new player.
My favorite is by far the Compass. It’s such a great disc to manipulate, but stable enough that it still flies when you put it different lines.
Been playing for a year. I love the gold line plastics on Dimond and Fury. I recently got a pure and fell in love with how straight it goes as a throwing putter.
Another epic Jonathon and Thomas episode! Best videos on UA-cam hands down. Thanks guys!
My favorite is the River in the opto plastic. I can grip it and rip it. Flights are very consistent. If you rip on it with a straight release it will fly straight for days because of its glide. Great beginner friendly disc. Go get one! You can thank me later.
I have 2 and I’ve aced a 230 ft hole with a opto air 155/160 grams
It’s a great disc! I didn’t like mine right at first but now it’s one of my go-to’s along with the Musket. It holds a perfect anhyzer line and also feels good in the hand.
River is 10/10 my favorite disc in my bag! Followed by the TL3 by Innova which is just a less glidey version for shorter holes. I've only been playing for roughly 4 months and will be pausing for the winter. Last week i played a round and on the few holes that were long enough for me to throw the River (300 ft plus) i hit the pin on the first (315 ft.) and on the second (389 ft.) i landed within 10 ft of the hole. Both were extremely low, flat, straight releases. It is very form centered though. You definitely need to be focused on how you release it. Let her rip flat, she will carry to the right and reliably fade back left right towards the end. I've been watching several reviews of the River today and have been truly disappointed by how people rate it... until this video. It's been a year since you made this comment. Do you still bag it? Is it still your favorite? I'm interested to see.
I really love the destroyer driver. Durable, easy to learn, and can fly great. Also thank you latitude for all the tips I have become a lot better thanks to this channel
This was awesome😂😂 great, enjoyable way to introduce people to new molds. Please keep more videos like this coming!!
You should do an uppdated version of this video now a few months later when you have learned some more.
I have had the mercy as a putter since i started. I Can't find a better one. Hope you release an OptoX version
I switched to soft mercies. For some reason the hard plastic is really flippy, whereas the soft plastic is more consistently straight. Also I get less roleaways.
Claymore is one of my favorite mids.
Definitely the Fuse. Been in love since day 1 with mine. My first one I think is the same run as the one in Tomas' bag.
We review a lot of discs on our channel, but this was on a whole other level. Great content. Loved it and love Latitude 64. The Pure and Bolt are both go to discs for us. We even did a Pure vs Truth one mold challenge.
Just picked up a River today as my first disc that isn't a putter
Try the river pro. Its awesome.
I found a Saint Pro on a course the other day and it has been a game changer for me. One of the only disc I have found that I can throw straight at a long distance.
This was fun to watch, it's like me when I started more or less. Wish I could try all the molds and disc's. Would be fun to see this guy do a sidearm or so.🙌👍 Maybe he got that in the box.
These videos are all brilliant. Great to see a beginner learning with the advantages which are normally reserved for a pro. Video quality is top tier for the sport - informative and engaging.
My favourite disc by Lat64 is the Pure. I carry a simple 10 disc bag and 3 of those are the Pure. I also have about 10-15 back ups.
That´s very nice of you, Ben. Thank you. /Jonathan
My favorite one is the Compass. Holds the angle you put it on and can get some nice distance too. And like Latitude says, helps to navigate the fairways easily
Who is this guy? He is so refreshing and funny. He’s the kind of guy you wish you had for your best friend. I love how honest he is with his abilities, because after playing for nine years, and being 66, I feel like I am still a beginner in so many ways. Wish I could’ve learned about disc golf years ago. I could have been a contender!
I'm Jonathan, nice to meet you :). Yeah there's so many aspect of disc golf once you get into it a little bit. Have a great day /Jonathan
I started playing DG in July 2020. The Maul is also my favorite disc. I could only find a used Maul initially, but I have since found 3 new Mauls online as well as a couple more used ones.
Probably the Explorer and River are my favorites! I have both of them in opto plastic!
Jonathan, this would be an interesting video concept to revisit now that you've surpassed the one-year mark on your disc golf journey. Personally, I'm still classified under "newb" status as I've only been throwing for a couple months, but already I've seen my bag change quite a bit. I started out similar to you (and I think common to most folks starting out) with being all about the drivers, then, once I realized I can't throw for (expletive deleted) and fell down a lot more UA-cam rabbit holes, I started gravitating towards putters and slow-flying mid-ranges. Anyway, all this to say, it would be cool to see how your disc tastes have changed now that you're a seasoned veteran of the game. Keep up the great work!
just said the same thing today :)
I am 50, started 9 months ago at 49 and of all the discs I have tried: my favorite (and the only company I have in my bag) is Latitude 64.
In my bag:
Pure
Fuse
Compass
Maul
River
Explorer
Saint Pro
Jade
Saint
Musket
Sapphire
Perfect set up for me with my lower arm speed and making sure I don't do damage to my joints. I have most from Maul to Saint in Opto Air plastic!!
Lat64forlife
Awesome. Thank you for your comment.
paulking0512 thank you very much for that list. I started 2 months ago and just got the Maul and it has changed my game dramatically. Love it! I suffer from that newbie-itis where a lot of shots go way too far left and after using the under stable Maul I’ve been semi cured. I also like the gummy feel of the opto plastic better than all of my Innova starter discs. Now I’m thinking of adding the Fuse as my midrange and possibly the Pure or Keystone as a putter. Also looking at the Ruby. Just curious on whether you have tried any other Lat 64 putters. I’m close to 50 with slower arm speed as well as being a smaller guy but I’ve picked up the sport pretty well and play maybe 36 or more holes a week. Any tips on the weights you are using also would be greatly appreciated. 🥏
Of the Lat64 discs, I absolutely love the Explorer it's so consistent and goes far with minimal effort. Also, the Sapphire is starting to grow on me.
My favourite from Latitude64 is the only midrange i use. The Compass!!! I have a couple of them in my bag in various wear. Mostly in the old "compass" print but also the moonshine version and the more stable opto-x grady shue version. Great disc!
I trust all of my upshot duties to the Compass and the Anchor. The wind and shot angle determine which one I throw but I couldn't ask for a better one, two combination of midranges.
The Vision is my all time favorite L64 disc because it was the first disc I ever threw where the term “glide” actually meant something. The Explorer gets honorable mention, because it is so consistent. I really like the L64 control drivers, they seem to fly just like the posted flight ratings for me.
I am newbie and so far my go-to are the Retro Burst Fuse and Retro Burst Pure. They came together with a Saint as an Advanced Set. I have a lot of control with them and because i have long fingers, I get a good grip on them. They are a bit heavy and stiff, so perfect for me on windy sections. I can’t find them on the company website so I bought another box set as back up. -at least until my speed increases and I’m better able to shape my shots.
My favorite was the stiletto! Lol. I remember when I first started and a friend told me to throw his stiletto. I was a hyzer thrower and that damn stiletto was a boomerang
Got my hands on a couple of identical opto fuse. I fell in love, got two identical Pure I fell in lust. I've decided to build an entire Lat64 bag and I'm on with the River. Respect. Soon on to the Saint, Ballista and Grace.
Gold Ice is the best plastic I've ever seen. Amazing.
I'd love to get the stack he tested... I've been in the game about a month. But, yeah. Good to see the results of a slow arm throwing fast plastic. It just hooks hard and doesn't give the desired flight. Good video.
That Maul was more grippy, because it was Gold line plastic. I really love the plastic, but only hoping for some really bright (dayGlo) colors, that can be seen in the evening light very well.
I have two favorite discs, the Pure and the River. And of course in the Gold line plastic.
With a smooth throw they go really far and can be controlled to go in any direction (left, right or straight).
I use my Maul for long anhyzer shots from about 280-340 feet. It is very reliable to hold the anny line.
Of course it's a great beginner disc to throw straight because it is understable!
Great content, great editing job 👍
I love the Bolt works great for my throwing style. Unfortunately seem to be getting harder to find and I lost 2 at a tournament in Cheyenne Wyoming this past weekend. Most drivers are just a bit to overstable for me. The Saint Pro and Opto x Saint Pro are my go to fairway just the perfect fit. Not sure why as they are on the overstable side. And for putting a Classic Soft Judge hits the basket right for me. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in filling your bag with what works best for you.
Fuse is my favorite. Bought one for my wife and was curious so I gave it a toss. Mine came in 3 days later and kicked out my buzzz’s.
I got a red River (175g) with the same dragon stamp (in gold) in my mystery box this summer, and instantly fell in love. It's great for a flex line and a hyzer flip and has a very soft fade and lands flat. I love the feel and it's been a very predictable and controllable disc for me.
Ricky wysocki 2x opto explorer is dope for intermediate skill I would say. It's perfect for hitting tight fairways in the woods with a nice reliable stable finish. Plus it won't flip ovet
Pure, Fuse, River & Diamond
Been throwing a pioneer for forehand drives a few years now. Very effective. 👌
Love this video! Would love to watch more like it, maybe follow up with his progress. I use my opto saint pro, & moonshine bolt every round.
The River and Musket are definitely my faves. Both have a lot of control compared to some of my other discs.
For Mr. Ink, I would recommend nothing faster or more stable than the Jade for driver, River for fairway, Fuse for mid, and (don't know Lat 64 putters very well) something real straight with some glide for putter. That is all anyone starting out needs. Good luck, Mr. Ink.
Thank you. /Mr. Ink 😀
My top 4 ballista pro, musket, harp, dagger all day. Thought the video was great deff should put out more videos like this🙏
Loving this content. I would love to try each mold like this. Would be really fun
Thank you. Yeah it was a lot of fun. But very hard to decide in the end with, haha :). Do you have a favorite disc?
@@Latitude64 I really like the River for long hyzerflip shots!
I very much enjoyed this!
I'm a big fan of the Musket. Great all around driver for most players. Flexible without being too over stable. If I have to play a one disc round though, I have a glow Trident that is just a great all around disc.
L64 Bolt is one of my favorite disc! L64 Maul was one of my first discs and now it's good for hyzerflips👌
Threw a Halo the other day for the first time and LOVED it. Also have a Bryce that is terrific.
One day he will watch this and laugh so hard. It’s hard to remember when throwing felt like such a uncoordinated motion. We all start there but now throwing is like walking.
Can’t wait to see some improvement, need a coach and some serious hours working on your form. Spend the time getting it right in the beginning, it’s a pain in the ass but way easier than trying to unlearn bad habits. Trust me as soon as you start throwing decent, you’ll want to throw further and that will never happen without a good form. Happy throwing!
Maul is a great disc, I should probably try it again, but from L64 my favorite right now is the Fury with the diamond a close second.
Moonshine River has been in my bag for about 3 years. Great tunnel/turnover disc, tons of glide.
My favourites are c-line ddx, s-line dd2, active line sensei, c-line md3 and s-line fd! Oh shit wrong channel.. I mean I also have opto Havoc (slightly flippy), ballista pro (FAR!) and saint and I like them a lot! Saint is like bullet straight for narrow fairways.
Good video. I would love to see a series of this with him improving.
Thank you. We will have more content like that (how-to etc.) ahead. :)
My favorite is the Musket! thats the only Latitude disc ive thrown but the Musket was very controllable and it beat in very nicely
I started bagging a couple Saints for their glide, and that turned me into a fan of the conpany's disks.
That´s great! :) /Jonathan
I don't throw Lat64 in general, but if you ever put a Dora stamp on an explorer, I think it would demand my money. Actually the explorer from my PDGA membership may be my only Lat64 disc. I really like it. Nice video!
Diamond is my go to disc almost every time. I can get the most distance with it, but I like the Maul especially in the wind because it is more beefy.
My favourites are Musket and old understable River both in gold line plastic. Occasionally I use opto plastic Fury. For midranges I have Fuse, Compass and Claymore all in opto plastic and for putters I use hard, medium and soft plastic Pure.
Saint is in top of my list about discs that I need to try.
And mostly I throw Latitude 64 discs and some Discmania discs that are apparently made by Latitude 64.
I'm such a novice, I'd take a throwing lesson from this guy :) My 55yr old novice arm appreciates the honesty and quality of your videos. I literally cannot throw a distance driver and now have ideas for disc's to add to my Mace and Dagger that may work for me.
Hey Mike. I´m glad you liked the video :) /Jonathan
Love these videos....Latitude 64 has become my go to for discs.....the River has been my favorite but I got a Ballista last week.....wow....I'm looking for a putter....have a pure but its autographed by Trace K.....not throwing it...lol....but wanna get a Keystone.... Thanks so much for the content....
I'm glad you like the videos, Charles:) /Jonathan
I still use my 2010 halo. By far the best disc I've ever had.
I love my River in opto plastic, purple translucent . I also love my Saint, in a red/pink Gold Line Burst. I have a Saint Pro in Gold line that has not made my bag. I love the Saint, it has just the right stabilty to get the job done, very consistent for me, and i can throw with pop for a guy over 50. The River is just a hoot if I can throw for fun. For me it sprays a bit. I guess it is such a glider that it finishes kinda where I want if you throw it flat. Give it a bit of Hyzer and you know better where it is going to land. But I play disc golf for fun, and the River is just fun, it goes far for a speed 7, and throwing it flat and watching it get some air bounces is magic. I got the Fury and the Pearl, neither has made my bag, but they both throw nice, Fury is a bit flippy for me. One of my next purchases I think I am going to give the Fuse or the Explorer a try. JohnE and Emerson both can't be wrong. I throw an anything/everything bag. My slow stuff is Discraft, my mid range stuff is Buzz, River, Saint and TeeBird, Speed 9 is a mixed bag of stuff Infinity, Innova Discraft. Trying to find which forehand I like better Scepter or Firebird. I dont throw much over a ten speed. Vulture I do toss a Thrasher and and a Zeus, more like flick a Zeus for fun. But keeping at ten speed or so works for me best. If anyone read this long mess, please add a Latitude 64 product you think could compete with a Firebird or a Scepter. I cant make up my mind yet, I like both, so give me another option...
Just bought a River 3 weeks ago and it's becoming my go-to disc that's not a midrange or putter. I may have to try a Saint now. Thanks for the insight.
Found a river (unmarked) in the woods one day. I had been throwing plastic from the 90's up to that point. The river was the first disc I'd ever thrown to hyzer flip and it would glide forever! I immediately got another in Gold Ice, and its become a staple. That yellow is hard to miss as well. I've since stepped into a few other types and am getting more stable in my bag. However, the River is just EZ distance and it marked the rebirth of my disc golf journey...
Interesting. I got a Maul a week ago but in Opto plastic. And I love it do death. It actually flies where I want it to. My second favorite is the Sapphire also in Opto plactic. A tad on the fast side for me but very consistent and reliable.
Consistency is key :).
The Maul is my go-to disc in my bag. A buddy gave me an Explorer about 6 months ago, and has been slowly being used more than the MAUL. I also love my Musket, and unfortunately lost my Diamond in a water hazard - and have not replaced it... I may replace it with another Diamond, or a Fury.
I’m brand new at disk golf…. I am learning a lot from your channel
That´s awesome :). have a great day! /jonathan
Opto Pure is my favorite Lat64° disc followed closely by the Saphire
Pure is easily my favorite disc, I've got 15 of them.. Such a beautiful straight approach disc and great for learning better form
Wow that´s many. For some special reason? colour, stamp etc.? :) /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 For practising purposes. I also putt with Pures so it's nice to have a stack of them when doing 100 putts for example. And It's nicer during field work when throwing approach shots or drives that you don't have to walk to the disc after every throw :)
I've got 20 pure putters that I bought in a batch for practice. it's my number one putter for inside 15 feet, or outside 75. I use a P2 for the rest.
Sick editing. I'm also new to disc golf and am extremely jealous that you can go throw all the discs. I just have to trust online reviews and such
I wish they had a place you can go and try discs out no consequence. try before you buy type thing. I am not new to the sport (I am also not super good IMO) but I recommend slower speed discs to start. top of your range should be a 7. they actually say to only throw putters until your form is clean enough to get a putter 300 feet. I don't rely love this advice but I think it is a good way to tell where you are at with your form.
Fantastically wonderful feel of pace and the fun way of telling the information is so good and genuine!
Thank you for those kind words :)
Spz1. The only throwing putter I've felt comfortable with at all times. And I've tried them all. Perfect frisbee. Please make them in opto again. Thanks. THEY WILL SELL 😉
Discraft buzzzz just bexause i love how it flies and I feel really comfortable with it. And can control it
Th keystone is my fav. Hyzer to turnover backhand and love to putt with IT
For tight tunnel shots, a gold claymore. So straight for so far. But yes the mole is awesome.
Slightly surprised me that he didn’t pick the Diamond after he basically threw it where he was aiming. I love the Musket and Sapphire. I too would love to be able to just throw every disc
Maul got all the attention after I stopped filming. I found that it was the disc with most consistency and speed. But there where some that I liked. Diamond was one of them :)
Right now In my bag, I have 3 Ballista Pro’s, 2 in Opto plastic. One in Gold. And 3 Gladiators 2 in Gold Plastic, one in Opto.
Hands down! Favorites. (Gold gladiator #1)
Best forehand disc I’ve played with. I can get it out 300 + with a high amount of control.
I don’t have the biggest arm.
But I am very impressed with L64 and Dynamic Discs. I also have a Raider in Fusion plastic.
NO JOKE! After not playing a single round or anything for 7 years. I bought a Raider this past summer, took it to my local course.
Very first attempt with it on that hole, ACE.
So of course I’m re-hooked on the sport.
Ny favourite is the river and the fuse 😊 easy to throw and it goes straight 🥏
Really like the Diamond in Gold line, Sapphire in Opto and was finally able to get a River (Gold). All 3 made it into my bag. Still trying to find a Maul in the States but will snatch it up if i see one. The Diamond has farthest throw so far(started in May 2020)
I’d love to see him talk to Albert Tamm , Silver Lätt , or Kristin Tattar
That might happen when travel gets easier :) /Jonathan
Latitude 64 Of course . Stay safe out there guys !
I have the majority of discs from Innova because they are right down the street from me. Also, Factory 2nd are economical. Fairway/driver: Runner-up: TL and Leopard3. Winner Roadrunner. Midrange: Mako3. Putt and Approach: Animal and Pig. Material Runner-up: Champion and Star. Winner: G-Star
Awesome video!!! Though, I couldn't help but notice the backwards x-step on a couple throws [most noticeably 3:44 (keep placing left foot in front of right foot, rather than behind)] I did this for months when I started playing, until somebody pointed this habit out to me... You've got a great team behind you, brother!! I'm sure you'll soon be easily ripping 500'+ on the reg. Keep it up!!
Thank you for your feedback. I´m actually editing a Run-up video as we speak and it´ll be out later today or tomorrow. Have a nice day! 🤘😀 /Jonathan
Noob here. Got a Ballista Opto Pro(?) and I'm not touching it on the course for at least a year! I believe it is a disc that benefits a more e experienced player than where I'm at right now...
Got my own practice field though...
Saint fairway driver is my fav. I can throw it with a forehand and whiz past trees and get alot of distance with it.
First of all, this was a great video to get a beginner's perspective on many of the discs offered by y'all. So, this is coming from a beginner's perspective myself. I recently got a Sapphire (in Gold plastic if you're wondering), and I can safely say that is my main driver right now. I use the Stag from Westside for shorter drives, but for every other drive I use my trusty Sapphire. I love how it flips up to flat and then just gliidddeeessss. Very good disc, feels great, and quite durable. It was the disc that I learned how to do a good backhand on as I was doing forehand before. My only issue is that the stamp was very poor quality (not the image itself, but the ink used for printing). I haven't been throwing it that long and the stamp is almost already completely worn off. All in all, I love the disc and keep up the good work Latitude 64! I will definitely consider discs from y'all if I ever want/need something different.
Hey. Thank you for your feedback. I´m glad you like the video. I´m sorry to hear about the stamp. Having the graphics stay where it should is definetly one thing we work hard on. Mother nature with her whethering doesn´t like stamps it seems 😂. I´m thinking about doing the same sort of video in a year or so just to get a different perspective. Is that something that´d you´d find interesting? Have a nice day :) /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 That video idea is something I'd definitely be interested in. We'll see if I can wait a year for it though haha!
Haha 😂
Distance driver for me is halo, fairway is explorer so overall my all time favorite is the explorer I love them wish I had more lol
i got a pure, a rivier, and a fuse.......love all of em
As someone who is also a novice, I definitely love my Maul so I was happy to see that was your favourite, but I actually prefer the Mace for most shots, and I throw the Musket the farthest (I don't throw 'distance drivers' as a rule, except for an extremely beat-up Avenger SS I found which throws like a dream for my novice arm.)
Hey Connor. I´ll give the Mace a test as soon as possible :). /Jonathan
I prefer the Spark out of Lat64s disc lineup. Great control disc. I prefer the Opto plastic for this mold
Claymore and Grace is my favorite discs. Claymore is lika a programable disc you can tell it to do anything. Grace is just pure fun to throw
Tomas and Johnathan, What a friendship, ha!
The only disc I have used from y'all was the pioneer and I loved it. Bu I only had it when I first Started. Then I began school. Now I am again re trying the sport. To much knowledge to fully understand with out friends or proper mentors. ~an American new to Norway
Great to hear! Pioneer wouldn't be our first pick as a beginner disc. It's very overstable and in need of a decent amount of power to really fly. I would say that a River or a Maul would be better if you are looking for a beginner/amateur friendly fairway driver. / Johannes
@@Latitude64 thanks I look add it to the list I now have the pure. In zero soft. I like it so far
Test Material Fuse, first ever Lat64 disc and definitely not my last. Wish there was still a test Material plastic around, I'd buy a ton.
I love the maul also, but I understand they discontinued them in the states. I lost my favorite 168 gram maul that was perfect for hyzer flips and anhyzer. Thanks for the great videos!
Would be interesting to see how he should improve his form but i guess this isn't the channel for that. Good content.
We will feature precisely that in the future (and other content of course) :).
