I am certain that I could disassemble one of these. No doubt at all... and that is how it would forever remain, a mass of pieces and parts. Well done!!
Your videos are great to watch after work. If I may ask how much do you typically charge for restoration? I understand it varies. People don't understand how old tools are worth a restoration. I do because I have alot of old Makitas that belonged to my dad. I would have them restored without question.
Hi! You can also use gasoline to clean those grease then rinse it with soap and water afterwards. Grease dissolves in gasoline. But dont use it in parts with rubber O-rings attached.
new bearings and brushes with a generous dab of grease, a good clean up and presto a reborn recip saw. Good job you got done there, not many would take the time and go to those extremes of rebuilding any power equipment as you've done. Can you tell us what kind of cost is involved in doing a repair job like this?
Exactly $163 ($183 regular price minus $20 Makita discount) brand new in the US from Home Depot. www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-15-Amp-AVT-Reciprocating-Saw-JR3070CT/100594828

Awesome job. Hmmmmm, stripped, cleaned and replaced worn parts. Reassembled with new grease, outer casing cleaned, new rubber sleeve fitted and new power cord. Tested and works as good as a new one. That’s definitely a restoration and a dam near perfect one at that. Buying new outer clam shells for it just so it looks new is a waist of money. Funny how the haters don’t say what a restoration should be or show anything they have done. Dickheads.

Amazing. It is fortunate that you have the tear-down video to refer to. Meticulous and Professional job.
Thanks for not having any music.
Appreciate you taking the time and effort to produce a highly informative video. I learnt a great deal. Well done and thank you. Keep em coming!
No wonder this saw needed 2 seperate videos. So many parts were broken beyond repair. And finding those parts, respect to you.
So many parts! I shall treat my Makita recipro saw with renewed respect. Cracking job.
Always a first class restoration job. Excellent work.
A phenomenal job! Ignore the silly negative comments.
Yes, thank you for your motivation words.
Patience of a saint
Very good restoration 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Great restauration. Probably nobody could do better. I hope Makita give you free the parts to replace for the publicity you do for them.

Awesome! We have so many tools that needs to be repaired 😂
Talk about serious restoration... I think this guy is some type of engineer or something. lol
This (type of work) is what a majority of men were able and enjoyed to do 100+ years ago, then came consumerism and planned obsolescence.

Perfect job mate
What kind of powder are you using for the cleaning?
I use laundry powder.
i believe it is baking soda
@@gear_show TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) might be a little more effective
17:50 If there's any time that a little lube is warranted, it's when you're putting a sleeve onto the business of your power tool.
Thank you for the suggestion :)

What did you use to refurbish the outside plastic?
First I cleaned it by laundry power, second I sanded out the scratch part, the last point is paint it with clear paint.
@@gear_show Thanx!
What did U use in 1:39 ? baking soda or .. ?
Washing powder
I really like your videous, i get relaxed, good job :D

Damn, remind me never to take you on in a jigsaw challenge.
Kinda think the initial fault finding where a lot of judgement and experience involved

fuck a duck, loved the knowling start. Also, does vinegar etch steel or alloys or just break down the organics?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Hey Frank, we got that Swedish Sure Grip Suck Machine you ordered. Anyone???
It's a gift. :p
$96 for the restoration.. how much for New Saw?
Round about 80$
Around $195 usd
CATERPILLAR in Germany 80$
sentchen123, bullshit, more like €100 - 150€ for a used one and €200~€300 for a new one and that’s Euro’s not DM.

i like when he smears the dookie butter in there with grandmas pie utensil
Could have used a little more grease because you missed a couple of spots.

Love your video, as always. However, this time the watermark is too big. It takes up almost 1/4 of the screen on my iPhone.

Indeed. It is a tool, not an altar piece. Function over form!
