Also the verbal beatdown diff is that instead of targetting the top laner for misplaying he did it for the attitude the player had when walking away from a scrim. He also did not yell at him in the heat of the moment. He went to make sure he was fine and reminded him of the promise they made to each other. Once he was certain he was cooled down brought him back to the team and punished him publicly to show the other members he was not going to play favorites.

Watching this coach remembered me about a coach that we had in our basketball team: our team was the laugh of the city, like really a clown team. Winning against us for 20 pts or less was a bad thing for the rest of the league.
Then it came this guy, a coach that was 100% straight forward and brutally honest. He always made the wake up calls that we needed, he took the best of us and exploit it like nobody. People were concerned about his attitude against us, because everyone heard him screaming and ranting every game. But those wake up calls made us win everything from regular season to playoffs.
Sometimes it really goes down to have a coach like that, and some people will never understand it. Specially NA.

speaking from experience, the biggest difference between asian and eu/na mentalities is that people or children in asia are generally accustomed to harsher verbal criticism since they receive it since grade 1. Not saying that this is always good or beneficial but it definitely makes people more mentally resilient and accepting of other opinions. What the coach did/said is fairly regular in china given the context, since the situation is analogous to you failing an exam/course in a school setting

@@shadowslightly6759 I suggest you to go watch the vod. It is from 8-9 days ago now to get context for yourself. However, to answer your question Dom is obviously positive about EDG's coach, very much so. Especially his approach to motivating his players. LS reaction was opposite as in it was largely muted towards to head coach, his initial reaction to the speech EDG head coach gives when EDG are down 0-2 to WE is "What is wrong with this guy?". In terms of their head coach it seemed like he was near enough indifferent, nothing extremely negative to say but no reaction or comments of agreement in the manner Dom reacted. Like I said "didn't seem to have much praise" I didn't say that he was pushing against it like you are suggesting, that's just putting words in my mouth. Maybe you could chalk up LS reaction to the fact he finds the manner of coaching standard, so he has no comments towards it.
With their drafting coach though, he roasted him on multiple occasions in a negative manner.

that is some great coaching ffs. Sometimes players, in any sports or team environment, need that kind of brutality, but it's more than ok if that brutality comes from pure will of winning and from honest affection towards players. My coach was like this, when we were sucking hard he would not tell us "oh my boy, dw you'll come back stronger". It was an all out wake up call, because who cares if you wake up after you lost, it's just that moment that matters. I dont get why na doesn't get this, wen in any other american sport it is normal. Of course there is a limit to what a oach can say or do...regi.... but strict but affectionate coaches will always be the best to coach young men.

Sometimes rather than getting calmer by mental processes and telling yourself to calm down is not enough! It is also normal to not be complitely calm after these competitive games! Some players perform better calmer and others like doinb seem to perform better while being more agitated. I would suggest the players to move more, agitate their body more, do more movement in between games, they sit down with their mental storm and pressure in their chest, like its going to go away if you say to yourself any stupid coment like its okay I will perform better if I get calmer. Bro you have to get it out PHISICALLY and MOVE, SHAKE IT OUT, SHOUT IT OUT, like the coach or whatever said, be more manily about it in a way, dont expect to be perfectly calm and when you realize you are not just sit there and tell yourself you need to cheer up or calm down, movement, energy is needed. They hold it all in just thinking it shouldnt be there in the first place, even when they won they try to remain calm when they clearly cant be, let it explode brother!

It probably is true. But I doubt all eastern teams function this well also. Hats off to the EDG staff for facilitating a good environment while still being able to dish out criticism and be honest. And hats off to the players for being able to communicate and put their egos aside. This is how a championship team should function imo
