However, what we suspect Google may be doing is boosting up certain types of articles and videos so more people view them, hence affecting the election. And if your wondering, the difference between Google and Twitter is that Google is so much bigger and have so much more influence that they have much more strict regulations. The problem is that social media companies are more like public utilities than news publishers. Imagine if Verizon blocked phone calls or Con Ed refused to provide electricity to people they disagreed with politically. This all started back in the late 1800s when Western Union routinely censored telegrams containing political speech they disagreed with. The government created legislation that classified companies like Western Union as common carries. They decided that If you were going to offer your services to the public that you had to treat all information equally. Then when the telegram gave way to telephones they were added to the list as well, so why should social media be any different?

To remove liability protection against lawsuits from section 230
Once you are an editor of content you should no longer be provided the protections of section 230
Once the lawsuits begin you will see millions rewarded to NY Post, Politico, Trump and a host of others
Will this change business practices? Unknown, but it will drastically effect their value and in turn might effect their business model
