Is it just me or the lag between the moment you hit the paddle to shift gears and the transmission shifting gears seems to be really big.
it must because of the driving mode
Altho it looks very nice, i have a feeling that this is just oil money car. In comparison, Christian Von Koennigsegg actually needed to have working prototypes and prove something to investors and go through the proccess of figuring everything out and building the company from ground up. These guys just throw infinite money on the project, hire the best people they can pay, give Porsche a fat check for their engine and then slap a really complicated carbon fiber body on it. It smells of the Dubai race between the super rich as to who is going to have the tallest skyscraper, this doesnt come anywhere near Rimac or Koenigsegg in terms of passion, there is none. Ofcourse the company is created by people who like cars, but thats not what its about, Rimac and Koenigsegg were ready to lose everything they had to pursue their dreams, for these guys it would be just a minor inconvenience, and it shows in the interior and the design of the car itself.
While Rimac and Koenigsegg deserve to be applauded for their achievements, if W Motors can design a working car, which looks good, is fast and puts a smile on people's faces, what more do you want?
If it appeals to you, you are very welcome to spend 1,4 million pounds on it, i personally would like to spend that kind of money for a car that has a story of passion behind it, such as Koenigsegg or Pagani.
I'd always take a Koenigsegg or Rimac over this but I wont say that this car is bad. It is good in its own right. You could make a similar comparison with cars like the McLaren F1 and the Bugatti EB110, neither is bad but people might prefer the F1 for its "prestige".

Youd say that Koenigsegg simply asked Rimac for help in the things they cant do better than them. W Motors also asked RUF and Porsche for help. Whats wrong in that? They designed the car themselves and told RUF and Porsche what to do didnt they? A bunch of mindless arabs wont be able to do that now would they?

Hope to see more of it to perhaps change my mind of the car but as of now, yeah, not really feeling this thing.
Calling this a “Hypercar” is an insult to actual Hypercars like the One:1 , Laf , P1 , 918 , Chiron , Veyron , Regera & Agera , etc...It doesn’t compete or compare there in my opinion.

This car is clearly still preproduction. The buttons are missing from the steering wheel and the infotainment system isn’t even on. Wait until the car comes out before you judge it, even if the Lykan Hypersport was overpriced.

This has been a weird video to watch. On one hand, youve killed it with the video side of things, and also your way of sharing information and your opinion (I almost fell off my chair with the Tony Stark on acid comparison). But on the other hand, you remind that you are a gearbox snob and then we see some very slow shifts. And you also spend a long time talking about the brands credentials. I dont know... But I still think you are the best car youtuber :)
i think the reason the gearbox shifts seem slow is because pdk is designed to be smooth when having a leisurely cruise and aggressive under more spirited driving. pdk is widely renowned as one of, if not, the best dual clutch application.

I think the car delayed the shift because the tried to put it in a gear that was technically too low -But thats just a guess. Normally the PDK is extremly fast

I wouldn't call it a hypercar. Hyper-price yes, but it neither has the interior/ exterior quality nor the performance a 918/P1/Laf/Koenigsegg. A flat 6? Don't get me wrong I love Porsche and RUF, but I'd buy a pure blood RUF any day over this, not to mention any of the hypercars I mentioned above. And also, the shift speed sounds a bit slow to me, anyone else hear the lag as well?
Subjective comments in terms of it's exterior, and interior are not solid points in an argument of this not being a hypercar. If it can match that level of performance, than yes it is a hyper car. Comparing it to various older more established companies with more resources also detracts from your point. At the end of the day, if it can put up the numbers, it's a hypercar. I don't necessarily like the car myself from an aesthetic standpoint, but I do like seeing new companies enter the fray. Side note: yes the shifting is very laggy.
@@MuShinnen not really, his arguments on the exterior and interior are completely valid when you talk about hypercars, for example a Huayra Coupe and a 720S have similar numbers (power, weight, etc.) Yet the Pagani is still considered a hypercar while the McLaren it's a supercar, a highly capable one? Yes, but it just can't match the flair, the quality, the looks and everything that makes a Pagani a Pagani. The SVJ didn't became a hypercar when it beat the Nür lap record. It's not all on the numbers.
@@okbutwhocares You should learn what objectivity means. You can't argue looks or "flair" as those aren't universal to everyone. Quality in manufacturing can be argued sure, but anything that's purely formulated based on personal taste is just that: personal. McLaren calls their models super car vs hyper car. If again they had the numbers and decided to call their vehicles hyper cars, then they would be just that. Style has nothing to do with it, as anything that looks like a hypercar would be considered one at that point based on your logic. Arguing a pagani vs a McLaren in terms of looks makes no sense either, as they each have their own design ethos. If the SVJ was called a hyper car by the manufacturer then yes, it would be a hyper car. This isn't hard.
Reasonable price for a very rare car....... the collectors of this car are surelly happy to add this to there collection..... because its very rare and limited in the world..

SensationFails Hey man, I think you might not be too familiar with the Porsche PDK.
It is arguably the best gearbox in the world right now.
Basically, at cruising speeds (like the majority of the video), it doesn't shift very quickly, it instead makes sure each shift is as smooth as possible. This is because when you are cruising, the focus isn't on lightning-fast shifts, but comfortable travel.
However: At very high speeds (eg. when the accelerator is pushed to the floor), it is insanely fast. Possibly quicker than gearboxes from McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.
This is essentially the same gearbox as in the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which holds the Nurburgring Nordschleife for a production car at the moment.
This gearbox isn't slow at all.

Mr. JWW clearly sold out. This cannot be his real opinion. After test driving the Senna on track there's no way he even remotely considers this thing worthy. Yet he gives some BS canned positive review because he's being paid to do it. This is the fundamental flaw with youtube - these people are not independent automotive journalists - they're more akin to glorified advertisers.
This is true everywhere, not only youtube. If you don't kiss the manufacturers ass you don't receive the phone call to test drive the next car.
Listen closely as he talks about the turbo lag. When he says you "eventually" reach top speed. That doesn't sound like 'sold out' to me. It sounds like a respectful disagreement with a company that he likes.

I dont´t like Porsche or any other brand from VW. In my opinion they are just boring. And i dont get it why they get so hyped. The 911 looks nearly the same today as in the 1970s. Audi gets a price for building the most ugliesst and uncomforable cars on the planet and VW itself well there is only one brand outside that builds lower quality cars than VW (Lada). Nothing against Ruf. I think they are making a great job. but let me quote STG here: "Porsche are poor people Ferrari." and thats right. You can see these frogs everywhere.
no that car has nothing special just the usual VW scam. Use an aventador put an afermarket bodykit and a tunded Porsche engin in it and lets do all in Dubai so you can charge more money as normal. But that is what all VW customers like.

The PDK gets much smoother at lower speeds, and then much faster at higher speeds. It's wicked fast when it needs to be.

Money makes you do questionable things... First trying to tell us Maserati does good SUV, and then that ? This car is so bad and has so many flaws but just like for Maserati, no mention of any of them. I subsribed to your channel on and off because of stuff like this. I mean, any petrol head know this car is a joke, and sounds bad. If the videos had the captions "includes a commercial partnership", alright no problem. But without it, it makes us question if you have good taste in cars from time to time.

Charles Almighty money has to be made bills paid that's how you get free content. This channel is full of really great cars on a regular basis. I don't love Maserati but there suv. Is a viable choice to consider. This car is a car i don't think is great i agree with you there.

Those aspects do NOT make it a kit car. To be a kit car, it has to be sold to the customer as separate parts and then assembled in the customers garage. Also, kit cars don't sell? You ever heard of Caterham? or Westfield? Most of their cars are kit cars.

The older koenigseggs used ford racing engines the f1 is bmw engine pagani used Mercedes engines the veyron the chiron all volkswagen engines the noble m600 uses a volvo engine the older gta spano uses a viper engine and so on guess these are some great ass kit cars then lol

Remarkable yeah it's slow might be pdk but some how not working well here
People are saying "the gearbox is slow".... It´s sport, but a luxury car too! In that range of speed, you want confort, so the car manages that and gives you confort, not a punch in the face by a brutal up shift, it is not a FXX... When you press the pedal and the revs goes to the limit, the shift is a fuking lightning, it´s a PDK transmision, the next gear is engaged, but you need to prepare the engine. Pay atention to the down shift.
the exterior looks decent, the interior though looks rather boring for something that cost this much. i'd much rather spend this money on a koenigsegg, mclaren, or a pagani. for this money i can buy myself a sena and a 720s and still have spare change for tires and petrol.

TDFXX "little brother"! Hypersport came out fisrt and it's still a masterpiece to this day although it is pretty pricey at 3.4m. "Little brother" 😂😂
My first impression of this car was "Eh....I don't know....nothing special aesthetically." But then James said some magic words like "Porsche" and "Ruf" and instantly my mind was changed. For those younger enthusiasts, do yourself a favor and go read about Alois Ruf and his company. They've been cranking out some pretty spectacular Porsches (see "Yellow Bird" amongst many others) for quite a while now. It seems like there are more "boutique" super/hyper car builders surfacing every day. But when your name is attached to 2 automotive legends like that, people will certainly take notice.
