Video Production : Landsmann+Landsmann Videoproduktion Maki Namekawa performs Philip Glass's Etude No.6 for Solo Piano itunes.apple.com/us/album/phi... www.itunes.com/PhilipGlass
actually it is.....im a Musician....and Philip Glass is one of the best composer of the 1900-2000. And also, the best composer of minimalist music. We studied him!
@@michaelscholz5990 oh def best composer of minimalist music and one of the best in the 1900s... but to be fair minimalist music is really not that impressive a feat of composition and the 1900s were kinda lame in terms of composers
@@goodday4songs I'm not sure I would agree it is "better". They are both glorious interpretations of supreme, peak piano mastery. I adore them both and absolutely refuse to choose or raise one above the other.
The video is awful, attempting to give an impression of intelligence; the composer or pianist or both..... Before the music faded out, I got a sense of a frenetic parody, a surrealistic interpretation of observed events or possibly a farcical interpretation of "Minimalism". Or both. The Romanticism is intriguing, in other Etudes as well. I'm not sure how the mechanistic relates to the romantic, but Glass has softened in his advanced years...
What a cheap piece of junk. Glass' etudes have set the etudes literature back a great deal from where it got to after Scriabin. I actually feel sorry for the pianist, having to use such limited means to advance her career.

Maki understood the assignment. ❤
I find this one the most difficult to play. What a marvellous performance of this amazing piece. Philip is a legendary composer.
Philip Glass is one of the Greatest Composer in history of MUSIC.
ain't no way u just said that💀

haha pareil
I love this interpretation
Her interpretations generated my sustaining interest in P. GLASS's ETUDES. NAMEKAWA wows me here.
Her smile at 1:35.... "I'm Nailing this!"
Indeed .... The most sensuous piece of music I know...
Beautifully played thank you I feel complete
So powerful! Brings tears every time I hear it, especially from Namekawa!
ETALLONIC performance. Maki is one of the Greatest Pianist in Our Planet.
The best …. By far!
Marvelous Maki!
GReat interpretation! I have seen her Live in Parma with Philip glass and She was so intense!
Incredible. Such an intense and immensely powerful piece.
Wooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....no words....
Wonderful sound and great interpretation
Beautiful!
Une merveille !
De toute beauté!
Just friggn amazing
Perfect!
Great interpretation, I love it !
Que maravilla, se disfruta mucho
I love glass
Amazing performance!
This... I have no words
Edge of seat performance. The music would be perfect for one of those car commercials. Off to buy the music and learn it myself.
This video deserve 5 mln views
mi favorita
I bet this would chart if released as a single.
too much cut off from these awesome videos, we need to be able to purchase them so we can all watch at our own leisure...and love
Tht Steinway looks beautiful
and sounds
My next piece. Now how do I get the primary color shapes to dance over my piano like that? And I'll have to upgrade my bare feet to black high heels!
michelle booth did you ever pull it off? I'd like to see ^~^
Lisitsa
Very personal interpretation of one of the best Etude. Marvelous ! Sad the end is cut...
it is the best interpretation for me
She is amazing
Is not cut.
❤❤❤❤
I love how they create shapes! It shows the colors and personalities that Glass composed! Of course Maki brought that to life really well!!!
staccato opening... unreal effect..
Panasonic NEO 3DO logo in the background. They're back!
❤
Buy the album on itunes
Simply beautiful.
Most excellent ! I didn't like that etude until I heard this interpretation.
She is wonderful but Vikingur Olafsen also does this this piece....a touch better though she is pretty fabulous.

Very well articulated, super clean. A bit robotic, but that's just a preference.
I have the album but I want the whole directors cut, the whole lot
upload it please!! :(
Maki is the Definition of the word "Pianist".
Does anyone know what grade this piece is?
This slaughtered my soul
...and in those pumps...
It cuts off before it's ended.
Better than the original one! Greetings from Brazil.
1:07 😮😊
Why the "777" on the piano?
Linda Nelson 666 ≠ 777
1.25x - perfect
What do you guys understand from these flying figures?
Whats with the Bb?
It feels soooo slow, it's like they recorded her practice session
Just stumbled upon this. You would have worked so well with Frank Zappa.
is that a prepared piano? or is that B flat just really fucked up?
I thought the same, THONK, every time she passes through it on a run or an arpeggio
Far too fast, its not a race. Anton Batagov is the only pianist I've heard that plays this at the tempo Philip Glass recommends on the score.
that's a woman!
I don't really like it... lacks feeling
Great performance nonetheless
too fast

@@setricesimus I'd forgotten about this post! Enjoyable music, crass video!
