      "refreshing approach to music and willingness to experiment and break out of classical norms."
      Surely you're talking about Mr Glass - giving the credit to Yuja is absurd ? ! !

      @@adrianwright8685 Yuja's unconventional repertoire, style of concerts / performance / presentation breaks out of classical norms - she is inspiring younger generations to engage with classical music when it was dying and suffering from the effects of the pandemic
      She deserves all the credit - I am sorry that some people cannot see that beneath her superficial exterior that she is innovative in her interpretations and the most technically adept pianist of our times

      @prometheusrex1 Glass isn't have bad to my ears. I've always had a taste for far far more music from baroque, classical, romantic and modern than simply contemporary Philip Glass alone.

Yuja Wang is the most special pianist, and she will get better. I am thrilled that, as long as I live she will be around playing the piano as one does magic.

    Du fragst, wie mir das Lied gelungen ist,
    Den Tiefen meiner Brust entsprungen ist? -
    Wer nur begeistert von des Goldes Glanz
    Und zum Gesange nur gedungen ist;
    Wer seinem Herrn mit Sang die Zeit vertreibt,
    Weil er als Knecht dazu gezwungen ist:
    Deß Lied erstirbt sogleich in der Geburt,
    Weil's nicht von Lebensgluth durchdrungen ist. -
    Nur wer vom Saft der Trauben tief erglüht
    Und von der Liebe fest umschlungen ist;
    Nur wessen heißentbrannter Busen voll
    Von wonnigen Erinnerungen ist;
    Nur wem das Herz im trunknen Busen wogt
    Noch eh' in Worten es gesungen ist;
    Nur wen es tief im Innersten durchbebt,
    Noch eh' in Tönen es erklungen ist;
    Nur wessen Denken, wessen Fühlen ganz
    Dem Lied gleich, dem ewig jungen ist: -
    Nur der singt frisch und frei wie Hafis sang
    Des Lied und Lob auf allen Zungen ist!

      Can only comment about the piano playing, as Glass’s musical processes don’t qualify as good music to my mind, but if you think Yuja is not the better interpreter here, your ears need some serious work.

  • @jeanlot

    Yes she's a great piano player , but it' s not a race! This interpretation is not good in my opinion , too fast. Maki is the best to play this song

      @hahhey1372 Рік тому +5

      This is the only time I’d disagree with tempo critique. It might’ve been a race tbh, she could’ve had another piece. If you play at an allegro tempo, the whole entire piece will take about 7 minutes which to me, is a literal snooze fest. Better off presto than not.

    • @CheeseMcGees
      @CheeseMcGees Рік тому

      @@hahhey1372Same, I think a lot of pieces needlessly turn into a race and end up muddying the sound.
      This piece starts tense right from the beginning and never lets up, I think it calls for feeling that tension in the way it's played

      There is no such thing as a bad interpretation, just a version you don't like. You display your musical ignorance with such comments as anyone with a modicum of musical knowledge, experience, training or appreciation knows that music is a subjective experience and that no professional player endeavours to emulate another, but instead, they bring themselves to the stage and present music their way. That's what makes music so special. Snobs like you are the ones that kill the essence and purpose of music.

    • @giancarlomarra9067
      @giancarlomarra9067 Рік тому +2

      I'm rather agree. YW's belongs to the set of "fast and furious" interpretation of this etude (leaving apart that she recomposes the sections at her pleasure, without respecting the repetitions - ok, I guess it was an encore).
      I prefer "calmer" renderings that enhance the ritmical obsession with more precision and without compromising the musicality of the piece. That by Batagov, for example. (ua-cam.com/video/rwqyiTNpo2A/v-deo.html).
