Hdfc is the worst choice so far as forex card is concerned. My daughter's forex card is still unactivated even after 7 days, and in the meantime, we have approached hdfc two times, personally, after taking leave from office. Pathetic service by hdfc.
How the activation went? Did they sent any otp? Bcs I am traveling tomorrow and my card isn't activated yet. It differs from Uni to Uni; however, most will ask you to use either a credit or debit card. Your bank in India will charge you 3.5% of your deposit amount as an exchange/conversion fee as well. I highly recommend you email the Income Office at your University and ask if a Bank Transfer can be done directly to the University's bank account. The exchange rates are way cheaper with this alternative. With tuition fee payment, ensure you do it in separate installments (check if this is allowed at your Uni) as anything more than 7.5 lakhs will cost you a huge TCS margin.
