Same here, I may have a terrible win rate, but I enjoy learning from my losses. Rematches with people are always fun because by the second round we both know how we play.
Square means winrate in the ArcSys games. White means a newbie. Then: Red purple means - very high winrate Orange - high winrate Yellow - above average winrate Light Green - average winrate Green - below average winrate Blue - low winrate Light Blue - very low winrate.
Ehh, the winrate is a bit of a stretch. Its more of a grade ranking, what with the fact that you can only progress by defeating people with the same color as you.
Well i wish i can lost countless times to really pro players while he can teach me things to become better. Win losing rate doesnt matter to me at least. If i become better, winning will come along with it.
NihongoGamer Write this down too. Beating a person that's the same color as you gives you one invisible point. Losing to someone that is the same color as you takes a point away. Get to 10 points to rank up or -10 to rank down.
Got this day one for the switch. Even though I don’t know any of the characters that well and I suck at fighting games at the time of making this post, I enjoyed the colorful attacks and animation. I played one online game and lost but I feel like if I really invested time into this game along with street fighter anniversary edition I could really become a decent player. The training in this game is awesome and being able to take that anywhere is helpful especially if I don’t want to get rusty. Thanks for the cool video man.
Them you'll never play a brand new game, gavin? Playing the game is the best way to know these characters. Also, you can whatch the RWBY web series on UA-cam to know 4 of them.
Bought it day 1 as well. I love the Blazblue even with my limited knowledge of the lore and you can never go wrong with Persona 4 characters. After playing the game a few hours, I’ve become invested in the other series fighters. My favorite fight right now is Linne
Bugmen Fan I mean I would play a all new game but for me to play a fighting I have to know the characters or i will be confused in the story of the game that's why I would play injustice smash and mortal kombat and fighterz because I know the characters in those games and they are iconic but I guess I will watch rbwy and if I like the show I'll buy blaz blue for switch but if I don't I won't buy the game
If you go to tactics mode on single player, it will tell you all sorts of tips and tricks on how to perform certain moves and combos and how things work in this game. I would highly advise looking at it and maybe doing just the things that don't seem to make sense to you at that moment
I suggest looking into the 'tactics' menu. It has a comprehensive tutorial to the mechanics etc. As well as explanations for characters and some combos.
Unfortunately you are correct any fighting game can be extremely enjoyable as long as you are on the winning side. Btw this is my new favorite switch game because I win a lot 👍🏻
Resonance Blaze is useful, USE IT! (When you are down to one character, press ZR) - Also, when you press A and it does that throw move, press A again at the right time to do much more damage (it says clash/crash). Don't bother with Training Mode until you finish the first two tutorial modes.
i got this when it came out. I played it all day and night it was so fun even the online was fun even though it was challenging against other players this is one of my favorite fighting games.
I would say that the PS4 probably has the larger player base but if you would be so kind as to pick it up for the PC I would love to see what the population is like as that is the only platform available to me.
GhengisJohn fightning on pc are always good at launch then dead fast :( sadly. I learned my lesson after buying like 5 games. On console the player and life are more longer and the performance isn't that drastical compared to pc since a lot are 2d/anime/etc
My bud I didn't ask for you to proselytize. I just want to see how active it is atm. Maybe you missed it but I'm on PC only and with the current console generation coming to an end it seems like a bad time to switch.
Yeah man I had a 360 and a PS3 last gen but I had a funny feeling about this console gen and didn't buy in. That used to be the system they ran all the tournaments on because the ps3 had an input lag or something right?
Played online for the first time and played 2 games. Lost both but pulled of a really cool combo with a Blake/Rachel tag assist really close to winning that one but my only problem is that the Switch Joy Cons are hard to pull off combos on. Besides that this game is extremely fun. I lost but I had fun getting better and pulling off a combo I couldn't do before. Need to buy a Pro controller soon
Honestly regretting getting the street fighter collection on switch due to the online connection being terrible. Wish I would have waited to pick this up
I don't think you need to win, you just have to be able to play against someone you can see improvements with your self over a few games. If they so far exceed your ability it is best to move on as you won't even understand why what your doing isn't working. Same with most other competitive games.
There is another way to make it fun without winning. Unlimited Mars in classic BB was fun for me even though I lost because I got to see all the insane stuff the CPU did.
I got this game on sale but didn’t enjoy it much when I tried it . I’ll have to learn it . The fighting stick is very tempting and it will likely make all fighting games a better experience.
I bought the special edition of the game from arc system works them selfs, (thats the only way to get it in the states) and its is not here yet, they shipped it out a day after the game came out
I am on the fence about this game. I'm an anime AND fighting game nerd, but I need to know when I get into a fighting game it has the depth and aesthetic i'm looking for. Anyone got a tl;dr review?
I don't know many fighting games channels, I'm unsure how much vesperarcade is covering this game. Though Max is good at FG breakdowns, you'd probably want to find channels who have favorable attitudes to anime fighters.
NO, Don't buy it if you look for something deep, it does has it but not as deep as either KOF or Guilty Gear. Indeed, if you need something a bit easier to take and swallow, this is your game, seriously, it's pretty fun.
I don't think the game is as accessible to new players as Aksys Game implies. The tag mechanics are a lot more technical, and with life bars not lasting so long everything you do matters a lot.
OtakuDante's Gaming Inferno well you wouldnt want a game so shallow it can get boring fast, and also they probably didnt want to alienate completely their veteran players. Also damage on stray hits in the neutral is high, and some smartcombos(aka autocombos) are viable themselves because they can be extended with almost any assist any new player who atleast plays smart can do damage.
I agree actually. The reason I wanted to make this video was to see if there was a punishing experience waiting for me online, but I have to say the balance of mechanics, variety of characters and reasonable defensive options made it a fun experience even when I lost :)
You can literally improvise tag combos in this game. lol Spend an hour or two just experimenting in training mode and you can find some good ones with that alone.
NihongoGamer yeah for me the switch release was on the 22nd of june and it says in the discreption if you pre ordered before 7th of july you got a character pack 1. However, the game didnt appear on the store until the 22nd so there was no pre order options. I was wondering if this may be the characters.
The game style doesn't look "pixelart". That's why I'm kinda confused. It's like they f*cked up the graphics. If it was "pixelart" not only the endges, but the whole character will be pixelarated like Street Fighter for example.
Usually there is antialiasing that smooths out the edges on the sprites. I know the switch version doesn’t have antialiasing ( and I’m willing to bet that the pc port doesn’t have it enabled either). That being said, these sprites are made pixel by pixel as an actual sprite And is not drawn animation like skull girls. Some of these sprites are also really old and are starting to show their age, such as the blazblue sprites. Notice that most of the rwby cast look really good in comparison.
The whole "not having fun" when you don't win thing is a real "sigh" to me. If you can't handle losing a few rounds, then just stop playing competitive, really you're not gonna die. I lose more times i I win at fighting games, I don't hop in and have exceptions of always having to win to have "fun". No one should, with any type of game that can kill you. Enjoyment should come from playing the game, enduring the pleasures and the pains. Not some win/lose ratio. No matter what generation you are born in. Practice and learn from a loss, even a win to. Cause just like you, there's a person right behind that t.v or computer that's thinks the same way. That's the fun, learning from each other and improving together.
There's a BIG difference between getting touch-of-deathed from full HP and having a match where you trade blow for blow and the result could go either way, where it's not one sided. I feel like most people tend to "not have fun" because no matter how you look at it, getting bodied before you can actually do anything to help yourself ( aka the fist option of the 2 aforementioned) is just plain NOT fun unless you are a literal masochist. Find me a single person that finds that fun , and i would be really impressed. With that out of the way... handling a loss isn't something easy, plain and simple. It's something you need to be trained to do, not something that is engrained into our DNA. If not anything else, the default response would be fight-or-flight from an evolutionary standpoint, not sit-and-take-it. Hence the expression "grow a thick skin" instead of "being born with a thick skin". Also, game design doesn't help at all with handling losses, when the "YOU LOSE" message is being read out loud in a long unskippable screen. That really worsens the psychological impact of it, since it's literally the game itself trash-talking you, reminding you that you were not good enough. If matchmaking did it's job properly, we wouldnt need to endure losses against a tournament level player as a newbie. Finally, from a game design standpoint, you NEED the player to win in the beginning in order to entice them to stay, and also clearly guide them into becoming more competent. Mr. Brick26 there's always at least 150 players always online. I usually play around midnight and never have any problems finding plenty of ppl. I love it and the netcode is amazing smooth perfect online fighting I always play in handheld mode
I think the first thing a lot of beginners need to focus on are defensive tools and blocking. A lot of the time when noobs feel like they're being destroyed the opponent is just taking advantage of the fact that they don't know how to block and deal with mixups. They'll keep getting hit with low sweeps and then scream, "BUT I'M BLOCKING, THIS GAME IS BULLSHIT!"
this game is gonna be available in my country this wednesday, and overall i like it, but i just cant stop thinking that the sprites looks like crap! especially with those good lookings 3D backgrounds.
Rustyhound do you have combos? No. Do you beat your opponent to death? No. We can go at this for years, it's a matter of perspective. But I agree with the other reply, is this game too complex for you?
You: I actually win and didn't get destroyed! I'm having fun!
The other guy: I'm never playing this s*** again..
David Damasceno lmao good one
Winning is part of the fun. I don't care about winning as long as it's a good match I'm fine with losing.
Same here, I may have a terrible win rate, but I enjoy learning from my losses. Rematches with people are always fun because by the second round we both know how we play.
Square means winrate in the ArcSys games.
White means a newbie. Then:
Red purple means - very high winrate
Orange - high winrate
Yellow - above average winrate
Light Green - average winrate
Green - below average winrate
Blue - low winrate
Light Blue - very low winrate.
Awesome! imma write this down :)

Greenhx Godofgreenhx I'll get it on the switch because I just love this game so much
Greenhx Godofgreenhx well I can't play a fighting game if I do not know any of the characters if I knew at least one I would have got it
Them you'll never play a brand new game, gavin?
Playing the game is the best way to know these characters.
Also, you can whatch the RWBY web series on UA-cam to know 4 of them.
Bought it day 1 as well. I love the Blazblue even with my limited knowledge of the lore and you can never go wrong with Persona 4 characters. After playing the game a few hours, I’ve become invested in the other series fighters. My favorite fight right now is Linne
Bugmen Fan I mean I would play a all new game but for me to play a fighting I have to know the characters or i will be confused in the story of the game that's why I would play injustice smash and mortal kombat and fighterz because I know the characters in those games and they are iconic but I guess I will watch rbwy and if I like the show I'll buy blaz blue for switch but if I don't I won't buy the game
your vids on this game have made me want to get it. I got my hori fight stick because of your review on it
I am having an absolute BLAST with this game, man. So glad I got the season pass.
The colors under them indicates how "dangerous" they are. What out for reds lol
That explains it!
The red-squares are coming!!
Anon Anonsmith I thought it was internet connection XD
I Love your videos Nihongo! Cant wait for this coming to eu :)
Bring on the BlazBlue goodness! Waiting for mine on the Switch
1:24 it's so cute how she approaches like a little fish
2:49 "how dare you!" *kicks* lol
You dont even notice that this played on the Switch
shadowhunterrx the only difference in no antialiasing, which I can definitely live without for an additional portable experience
Lets be honest, if this game was inferior on switch it will be a joke like this game does need power specs at all.
my friend who doesn't really like fighting games played the demo with me when it was still around, he fell in love right away and got a copy day one
Damn that’s the most fun I’ve had watching a fighting game in a while! Would love to see more content, just can’t wait for the game to come to EU.
More characters are coming on June 19th.
i got this when it came out. I played it all day and night it was so fun even the online was fun even though it was challenging against other players this is one of my favorite fighting games.
Isaac Iniguez mine too.
Uzume huh? Makes me want Nep and the gang to crash this party. Especially since when I play Linne and Chie, Norie and Uni come flooding into my mind.
Neobelmont1 it would be awesome if they put some Neptunia characters in the game
One can hope right?
Neobelmont1 yeah. What do you think about them putting 2 senran kagura characters in the game? It sounded interesting when I heard of it
I would say that the PS4 probably has the larger player base but if you would be so kind as to pick it up for the PC I would love to see what the population is like as that is the only platform available to me.
GhengisJohn fightning on pc are always good at launch then dead fast :( sadly. I learned my lesson after buying like 5 games. On console the player and life are more longer and the performance isn't that drastical compared to pc since a lot are 2d/anime/etc
Tekken 7 is still very much alive on PC though, theres still 3k active players.
My bud I didn't ask for you to proselytize. I just want to see how active it is atm. Maybe you missed it but I'm on PC only and with the current console generation coming to an end it seems like a bad time to switch.
GhengisJohn heard that there's some problems with th pc port atm, but i think they recently got a patch out to fix it
Yeah man I had a 360 and a PS3 last gen but I had a funny feeling about this console gen and didn't buy in. That used to be the system they ran all the tournaments on because the ps3 had an input lag or something right?
i may get it in a few days! I would love to see more gameplay from Blazblue.
I tried the beta for this because I was super skeptical about it. I had so much fun! I plan on getting it soon and dip more into it. :D
I like how at 2:10, NihongoGamer was like let's see if we can win with auto combos and his character was like might as well lol
Yes, it is very fun.
Story mode too.silly and cool.
I played the demo. It was pretty fun. Decent tutorial as well
Honestly regretting getting the street fighter collection on switch due to the online connection being terrible. Wish I would have waited to pick this up

I still have fun in fighting games when I lose...
Same lol close fights are the best ones.
As long as it's a close fight, i absolutely agree. But not otherwise. Not in the slightest.
I would like more blazblue
Is it just me or is there slowdown before the fight actually starts?
Its the game syncing up during online before a match.
Oh hey, I see myself in the lobby here. lol.
awesome! Thanks for indirectly participating in the video!
I’m not an anime fan however I am really enjoying this game. I wish we had injustice 2 on switch but for now blazblue is a lot of fun.
This game is really fun. I like the fast pace games
I bought the special edition of the game from arc system works them selfs, (thats the only way to get it in the states) and its is not here yet, they shipped it out a day after the game came out
It does look fun actually
use resonance blaze it helps soo much and definitely play more tutorials to learn the characters ( even though they are really easy)
If you pick the PS4 version, you got a partner here to play with.
Channeling your inner Alucard I see.
I am on the fence about this game. I'm an anime AND fighting game nerd, but I need to know when I get into a fighting game it has the depth and aesthetic i'm looking for. Anyone got a tl;dr review?
Steve Urkel yeah
Get it now.
And watch maximilliondudes gameplay.
Fun story mode too.
Gd luck online
You should voice sonic again btw.
He was way past cool.
Now a bit annoying.
I don't know many fighting games channels, I'm unsure how much vesperarcade is covering this game. Though Max is good at FG breakdowns, you'd probably want to find channels who have favorable attitudes to anime fighters.
Most of the steam reviews say that its newb friendly, more than previous BlazBlue games.
NO, Don't buy it if you look for something deep, it does has it but not as deep as either KOF or Guilty Gear.
Indeed, if you need something a bit easier to take and swallow, this is your game, seriously, it's pretty fun.
Nice they used the same lobby as dragon Ball fighterz
it also cancels any move the opponent is using on you even supers
What controller/controller mode do you use?
Never skip the intro if you don't want to lag at all
Great advice!
Enjoy a lot..
More cross tag videos please
I was thinking : wow the lobby looks like Dragon Ball Fighter Z's lobby, then I saw that this game was also created by Arc system works
Why aren't you using your Resonance Blaze?
I don't think the game is as accessible to new players as Aksys Game implies. The tag mechanics are a lot more technical, and with life bars not lasting so long everything you do matters a lot.
OtakuDante's Gaming Inferno well you wouldnt want a game so shallow it can get boring fast, and also they probably didnt want to alienate completely their veteran players.
Also damage on stray hits in the neutral is high, and some smartcombos(aka autocombos) are viable themselves because they can be extended with almost any assist any new player who atleast plays smart can do damage.
I agree. I gave the game a passing grade for my own reasons. I just don't think it's as easily accessible as some people make it out to be.
Well, comparing it with Guilty Gear or KOF, it's pretty easy lol
I agree actually. The reason I wanted to make this video was to see if there was a punishing experience waiting for me online, but I have to say the balance of mechanics, variety of characters and reasonable defensive options made it a fun experience even when I lost :)
You can literally improvise tag combos in this game. lol
Spend an hour or two just experimenting in training mode and you can find some good ones with that alone.
I got this on launch day and I main Es and Vastea on PS4
Yo should I pick this stuff up?
It is very fun and anyone who says different is wrong
BlazBlue such an unusual title to see here but it is the same kind of title as street fighter but with different characters.
"but it is the same kind of title as street fighter but with different characters"
... No?
It feels weird have only 2 buttos for attacking.
I'm actually thinking in buying this now >-< !! oh no!! my money
How did you get the blake dlc. I have the switch also but the dlc isnt on the store.
Really? Blake should be free
NihongoGamer yeah for me the switch release was on the 22nd of june and it says in the discreption if you pre ordered before 7th of july you got a character pack 1. However, the game didnt appear on the store until the 22nd so there was no pre order options.
I was wondering if this may be the characters.
More BBTag!
PC graphics are the same, but I'm still wondering why the character 2D models are not smooth, but have some pixelated things on them? 😞
Because that's why it's called "pixel art".
The game style doesn't look "pixelart". That's why I'm kinda confused. It's like they f*cked up the graphics. If it was "pixelart" not only the endges, but the whole character will be pixelarated like Street Fighter for example.
BorisDG it's a stylistic choice. You either like it or not
Usually there is antialiasing that smooths out the edges on the sprites.
Because some of these sprites are 10 years old.
CAN'T ESCAPE FROM CROSSING FEET
I saw you doing combos on street fighter, wtf do you mean you cannot do a non-auto combo specially since Sf is a more complex game
Lol I just meant haven’t learned the BBCT specific combos
Did you get the game on digital or physical ? Just curious
digitallllll :)
The whole "not having fun" when you don't win thing is a real "sigh" to me. If you can't handle losing a few rounds,
then just stop playing competitive, really you're not gonna die.
Best comment ever. Most games have a winner and a loser.
I wouldn't fault anyone for breaking under that pressure.
What we need is a better game design in how the loss screen is portrayed, alongside better matchmaking. If matchmaking did it's job properly, we wouldnt need to endure losses against a tournament level player as a newbie.
Finally, from a game design standpoint, you NEED the player to win in the beginning in order to entice them to stay, and also clearly guide them into becoming more competent. Fighting games have the former (kinda) but absolutely NOT the latter, there's not a single fighting game with proper teaching tools to get a player from button-masher to competent , WITHOUT having to rely on external sources like guides & youtube tutorials.
How many fighting games do you play?
I tried to keep it down to SFV and DBFZ, but with Smash coming soon and BBCT I've ended up spreading myself thin again >_
Wondering if I should recommend you play 1 more =))
Same here no more Xenoverse for me either I’m addicted to blazblue
How active/large is the online community on the switch?
Mr. Brick26 there's always at least 150 players always online. I usually play around midnight and never have any problems finding plenty of ppl. I love it and the netcode is amazing smooth perfect online fighting I always play in handheld mode
Is it fun?
Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssss
You ever down for games?
I kinda want to play this game sadly I don't have ps4 or a switch.
Zero Kontentsu it's on pc
yeah I know. the problem is that I can't afford to buy Blazblue CTB, basically I don't money rip
I suck at this for Nintendo switch and I have it for ps4
Yes
When is this realising in europe?
I've heard June 22nd on websites but I would need to double check
Was going to get this but ima wait for dragonball fighterz instead
I think the first thing a lot of beginners need to focus on are defensive tools and blocking. A lot of the time when noobs feel like they're being destroyed the opponent is just taking advantage of the fact that they don't know how to block and deal with mixups. They'll keep getting hit with low sweeps and then scream, "BUT I'M BLOCKING, THIS GAME IS BULLSHIT!"
Am I on a disadvantages with my switch?
No.
not that I know of :)
NihongoGamer Well it’s my first fighting game XD so I’m not so sure
PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEO OF BBTAG!!!!!
Grab it on PS4 NHG!!
Gentle-People
Gonna pass on this for now. I like to have my games with all the content in one package so I think I'mma wait for the "definitive" edition.
👏👏🍌
Chie x Makoto
i have to 22nd cause F'ed the steam version so bad i had to do a steam refund cause refuse start in offline hub
Frist!
Omg i like your videos!
lol you really need to go into training to learn the systems
You could have used assists.
Nihongo u challenge you on switch FIGHT ME just respond when u accept this challenge
this game is gonna be available in my country this wednesday, and overall i like it, but i just cant stop thinking that the sprites looks like crap! especially with those good lookings 3D backgrounds.
Story mode is garbage. The fighting is fun but the forced tag mode and death of a partner to use your ultimate is utter garbage.
Arc systems is the Nintendo of fighting games.
Thugit Mcnugget what’s does that mean?
K. Amada go watch "how Nintendo won e3" (my hero academy spoilers).
Thugit Mcnugget the one for last year? I’m not sure how that applies
What the title of this exact video?
I don't get how?
Doesn't look that fun to me. I guess Smash brothers is the only fighting game in my heart after all...
Too technical for ya? Smash is really, really simple.
Rustyhound but that's not a fighting game
Satan The Arbiter you punch, you kick, use some weapons and throw a fire ball or two. Seems like fighting to me
Rustyhound do you have combos? No. Do you beat your opponent to death? No. We can go at this for years, it's a matter of perspective. But I agree with the other reply, is this game too complex for you?
Satan The Arbiter For Glory Mode: Online Would like to have a word with you. =✓
This spamming i here from your arcade stick almost makes me puke :D
