I hope Mike keeps making these after everything is over with. Even if they’re weekly or biweekly. Everything is explained simply and I’ve gotten quite a few dinners from these videos.
I love how you're not afraid to add a good amount of spicy chilies to the dishes instead of one or two so as not to scare away the people that don't like spice heat! I'm making this tonight!
I actually really love your cooking at home videos even more than your travel videos. You are cooking exactly what I need to see, it’s like your psychic.
My son wanted to say, "your show was great! I really liked how you talked about the ingredients and flavors!" This is a winner, and we'll be making it again. 🙂
This is one of my fav dish every time I go to my fav Chinese Restaurant here in Columbia, Missouri. I have been in self-quarantine since 2nd of March and I miss this dish so much!!! You read my mind, Mike. Huge THANK YOUUU!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Just made these tonight for dinner tonight and it was so delicious! Thanks for the recipe, it came out perfect 👌. My mom loved them too, she said “This is way better than Korean potatoes, Chinese people have been holding out on us” 😂
Please make potatoes with fermented red tofu and green onions it’s great in a iceberg lettuce wrap. You can also use combination chicken wings and potatoes too.

I was about to go to sleep because I'm hungry but then you uploaded a video and now I'm going to torture myself even more ☹️ Stay safe everyone and have a good day
Thank you Mikey! I have enjoyed this dish at several restaurants and tried to replicate it myself to mixed results. By following the technique in your video with a few of my own additions I now can make this at home and be proud of the results. I'm so glad I found your channels and keep up the great work!
This is my absolute favorite dish- I studied abroad in Beijing back in 2011 and probably ate this twice a day (the restaurant next to my campus even stopped taking my order as soon as they'd see me walk in the door for take out- they would just ask- "Okay how many portions?") I've had a tough time replicating it (aka ending up with stirfried gloop or hashbrowns basically) but this recipe is perfect!!!! I might try to sub out banana peppers or poblanos instead of the jalapenos though (I just prefer their flavor). Thanks Mikey!!! :D 很好吃!
Hey Mikey, the french have an idea about your knife skills. They made this thing I use often as someone with actually bad knife skills... a mandoline! I'm using one for this tomorrow night!
This looks so good I love these little cooking videos u have been making latley and I made a few things and they were so good I think I'm going to try to next thanx this is amazing xoxo love ur videos
I've never had this or made it. Just saw a couple recipes of it recently and have it on my list of things to try making. I took from those recipes though that the acid was not just for flavor but to fortify the cell walls on the potato and keep the texture more crisp. Off hand I think at least one called for the vinegar in the soaking liquid. I'm going to have to experiment with this a little. I know when I first started using cabbage I'd have issues where recipes would say it would be tender in maybe 10 or 15 minutes and I'd be cooking it for like 45 minutes and it still wouldn't be really tender. Finally worked out that it was because I was adding the acid at the beginning and it was keeping the cabbage crunchy longer.
The dish looks beautiful. It's ironic. My mother is from Taiwan and I don't ever remember her making this dish. But I will make it because it looks so easy
I would love an ingredient-specific episode on using lemongrass. I have been so unsuccessful with it. I don’t know if I am not getting good product in my area or if I’m just ignorant on how to use it. I love the aroma, but I don’t even be able to get that when I cook with it. Please, HELP.
Very late I know. I can tell you what I figured put on my own. It works. I bruise the lemongrass and add it in oil towards the beginning then I add one or two at the end after I have switched of the heat. The food shoul be still warm. I hope this helps.
Mike had this recipe on his other channel @strictlydumpling before but in that one he fried Sichuan pepper in the oil for the first step and also didn't use any chili oil. I wonder he took it out this time because it conflicts with the taste of chilli oil .
This looks lovely! I was curious though. Our store is sold out of Rice Vinegar, and does not know when a new shipment will be in. Do you think it would still taste good with Apple Cider Vinegar or White Vinegar? Or is it worth ordering the RV online?
mikey you should buy a western style chefs knife. they are much easier to use than the cleaver for most things and will help you improve your knife skills
mikey said in his simple chinese noodle dish video "and if you have some of the potatoes we made last week" and i was the saddest person when i couldn't find the video... turns out it just wasn't up yet
the easiest way to make potato is to rinse it with water and put it in the potato express bag and to the microwave. preparation time: 10 seconds cooking time: ten minutes, and nothing to wash afterwards
I hope Mike keeps making these after everything is over with. Even if they’re weekly or biweekly. Everything is explained simply and I’ve gotten quite a few dinners from these videos.
Pho sho!
Me too! I’ve cooked the tomato and eggs about 5 times already 😅
Mikey reminds me so much of Barry Lewis, all the enthusiasm and dad jokes with good food. Love it!

I'd love that 🥺

Omg....... I've been waiting for this video! You were always eating these thinly slice potatoes and I wanted a recipe for it....thanks
The World would be a much duller place, without the inventiveness of Chinese chefs!
This sounds delicious! Who doesn’t love spicy tangy salty seasoned potatoes!??
The only pain is the cutting, beautiful knife you have there mikey :)
I tried this for dinner tonight. So good!
I’m number one, I’m feeling some kind of way HAPPY!!!!

Thanks for the tip Mike!
Love it stir fried Potatoes
PLEASE do more easy recipes like this!!! I’m going to make this next week omg
I made these out of sheer curiosity because they sounded really strange...and I am now addicted!
Love this one. Thanks
I wasn’t sure if I would like it at first because I’m not really into vinegar flavors but I’m pleasantly surprised! Great recipe! Thank you!
It's really good. l made this for dinner today... sooooooo yummy!😋😋😎 thank you for the recipe!
So simple and delicious. Thanks, Mikey!
I have never had this dish before, but I'm definitely making it in the next couple of days! Yum! 😋

He did it a few years ago on strictly dumplings

I'm going to try making this tomorrow! Looks delicious!
Yum. First timer.
love this dish, never sure on how to cook it, now i know. Thanks mikey
Slice game on point.
Looks great 👍👍👍
This was awesome ! Hey Mikey. 👋🏼
I must make it! Thank you Mikey! 😘
Mmmm, can't go wrong with potatoes. This sounds like it might taste a bit like salt & vinegar chips which I love. Can't wait to try it.
This looks exactly like chayote squash which I love...so for sure will try this...great Mikey👍👍👍

This is probably my favorite thing you've made. Right up there with hot oil.
Love this video, thank you
😋🤤 definitely try making this looks yummy potatoe noodles lols.
Ñam ñam! I have a couple of potatoes in the fridge. I am trying this tomorrow!
Mike, you should get a madeline slicer. It would make it easier to slice evenly and it's much quicker.
Hey Mikey, the french have an idea about your knife skills. They made this thing I use often as someone with actually bad knife skills... a mandoline! I'm using one for this tomorrow night!
I'm so glad you mentioned that. I probably would have used a knife and forgotten I have a mandoline!
Chef John on Taste the CHINESE Recipe Show is amazing. He reminds me of Mike!! ❤
It looks very tasty and I have never made it this way ..Nice recipe Mikey can you make a satay dish ..love all your channels .❤️🥰..x

@justin rogers It could be
@justin rogers my mo did a lot of Chinese dishes and American dishes and made me eat stuff that I didn't like as a child but now, bring it on
@justin rogers exactly. I'm even willing to try snail. My mother would be so mad at me that Mikey can get me to eat snail but not her lmao
Hi Mikey would u ever bring out a cooking book on what u are cooking now cose it be amazing
Do you have a link for the knife you've been using?
Can you use normal vinegar
Can we use malt vinegar instead of wine vinegar ?
what would be an alternate for rice vinegar?
Looks great. I'll be making your hot oil in the next day or two and will make this dish.
I feel he is is giving me confidence
Mikey, what did you do with the potato peels?
Use a cheese grater when you need super thin potato. Its awesome
Can i use any kind of boullion?
As a proud Irishman you had me at potato!😂

Omfg ! I just discovered this new Mikey’s channel !
Maybe this could also be done by shredding the potatoes using a box grater? Might be easier to prepare although it certainly would not look the same.
can i use apple cider vinegar?
i want to know mike's opinion on shakey's mojos
Have you ever heard about mandoline slicer???
This looks lovely! I was curious though. Our store is sold out of Rice Vinegar, and does not know when a new shipment will be in. Do you think it would still taste good with Apple Cider Vinegar or White Vinegar? Or is it worth ordering the RV online?
yea white vinegar will work
@@CookWithMikey Thank you so much!
How would you sweeten this,I’m not a big fan of sour?
looks like Chinese hash browns
could you use defrosted frozen hash brown strings instead for consistency?
They will turn to mush frozen won't work
Song at the end is:
Nobody Else - Swif7
You're welcome
What about cooking the leftovers in eggs like a potato omelette?
My son loves this. But my version is only 2 ingredients. Sweat some onions add in the potatoes, cook till tender, season and it's done.
The last time I was this early... Corona was only a beer
I wish Mikey commented on this😭😭
It still is a bear
What kind of cleaver do you use? Do you have any tips on choosing a cleaver?
Should use the julienne peeler
mikey you should buy a western style chefs knife. they are much easier to use than the cleaver for most things and will help you improve your knife skills
look online for the victorinox 8in chef knife. best 40 bucks you could ever spend
Westren knifes sucks expensive and need multiple ones because one knife can't do everything
@@deadpeach07 not at all...one chefs knife and one pairing knife is all you could really ever need

Ok i’m hitting myself in the head rn, i can’t believe this is the first time I’m seeing this channel! I’ve been following Mikey for ages 🤦♂️
Hi Mike, when can you bring back the Double Chen Show with Dan?
sadly, that bridge has been burned. No use in asking, He won't say why.
I'm going to make this with my boyfriend since we have a huge potato left!
Mikey do you sell your own hot oil

I would add a protein to this to make it a little bit more filling
