Perp Takes Off From Traffic Stop Gets Pitted K9 Fur Missile Gets A Bite Out Of Crime

- On May 11, 2024, I was stationary at the westbound scales on Interstate 40 near the 284-mile marker. I observed a blue Nissan Maxima (TN: 413BJHQ) traveling westbound with what appeared to be blue flashing lights activated. I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the 283-mile marker of Interstate 40 westbound. Upon the vehicle coming to a stop the driver, later identified as (RICHARD E. BLAINE JR B/M 2-10-1997) immediately exited the vehicle. I noted that Blaine wore an outer ballistic vest carrier with SECURITY marked across the chest. I ordered Blaine to remain inside the vehicle, and upon reentering the vehicle he began to flee westbound on Interstate 40. I pursued the suspect vehicle that reached speeds in the triple-digits while traveling across all lanes of traffic and nearly striking other motorists. Due to Blaine’s disregard for his safety, the safety of two passengers in the vehicle, and the safety of the public I deemed it necessary to stop the vehicle. I performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) near the 278-mile marker of Interstate 40 westbound. After the TVI, the vehicle was disabled and I along with several other state and local law enforcement officers conducted a high-risk felony takedown on the suspect vehicle. Blaine repeatedly failed to comply with orders and eventually, Officer Darrell Prewitt with the Marion Police Department deployed his K-9. Blaine was then taken into custody. Upon a search of the suspect's vehicle, a firearm, a handheld radio, a tactical belt consistent with what is commonly used by law enforcement, and the above-mentioned flashing lights were discovered. Blaine was transported to Crittenden Baptist Hospital by West Memphis Fire and Rescue for the injuries he obtained from the K-9 deployment. Blaine was cleared by medical personnel and was transported to the Crittenden County Jail by Trp. Dairren Evans

It seems like they were all staged in that area, either for some traffic speed trap or Idunno DUI enforcement? There were 3 other cruisers visible from where the perp was stopped with their lights on already… the guys an idiot. Likely scenario would have been “hey turn those stupid flashers off”.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and take that as a serious question.
First, for whatever reason, that part of the Arkansas highway network seems to have been neck-deep in officers. I'm going to guess some kind of joint enforcement operation, judging from the several different departments that appeared, apparently out of nowhere.
Second, for some strange reason, non-police sticking flashing blue lights on their cars and swanning around the roads with them on seems to get officers' attention. Seriously, though, police impostors can (and have) cause a great deal of trouble, both operationally and administratively. They also cause everyday problems for officers on patrol. People who've been pulled over by one will be reluctant to pull over again, even for a genuine police officer. Not to mention the significant officer safety risk in a use-of-force incident posed by someone who appears to be an officer, but isn't. So LEO impostors tend to get jumped on quickly and with both feet. Or all four feet in this case.
