Somedays you just gotta listen to this song on loop, like an IV drip of hope to keep you alive. That's me today...and a lot of days. So thankful for this song
I love this song. Valentines Day 2004 was the last day I spent with my Mom and she passed away 3 days later. I’ve been missing her so much. This song came on at the coffee shop I was at today.
@@donnawentz2221I feel your pain. My mom passed away right on Valentine's Day 2003 as I was coming home from being in Job Corps in Clearfield UT. It was definitely the saddest day of my life.
As I'm fighting to remove my children from a very toxic and horrible situation, losing hope and faith, I turned to this song and just bawled my eyes out....this song says it all. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I have a story with this song. My father died when i was 3 years old. I lived alone with my mother and she took good care of me, until she died of a bad surgery when i was only 16. After her death i discovered this song and every time I hear it, I can hear my mom talking to me through the lyrics. I'm grown up now and surrounded by friends. Still, I miss her a lot. Whenever I feel the sun warming me every morning, I just feel it's her, hugging me, just like she did every day before school. But I remember everyday that things will be easier and that sometime in the future we will walk again, together, under the lights of a beautiful morning, just like we did, before school. (Edit) Holy...! Thank you for all your support. The world is hard for all of us these days. But you've shown compasion and that warmed my heart. You all are great. Thank you.
This made me cry. 😢 May God continue to give you the strength & courage to wake up everyday with such a positive outlook on life. To be absent in the flesh is to be present with the Lord. 🙏🏿 I know that your Mother looks down every second of every day & is so very proud of the person you have become! 😍 Thank you for sharing! Thank you for inspiring me to see the big picture! Thank You for reminding me to be grateful! Thank You! God Bless! ❤

This morning my husband dedicated this song to me and I was truly touched...I had a stroke a few months ago and he said its going to get better and I believe him...

Wow - still get tears from this song. My (almost) 16yo daughter and I just listened to this song again. I used to sing along to this song to her when she was a baby while waiting for (and after) her heart transplant. This song is a reminder of the miracle we lived through. As I see in other comments too - this song is gift from the angels.
This song is a beautiful testament to the love of humanity, and hope for the future. It’s the antithesis to those today who seek to divide and turn us against each other. Resist those haters. Peace and love to us all.

One of the greatest songs ever ❤. I'm 61 and a child of the 60s. I can remember this playing as a child growing up at the pool. 😊 They paved the way for the Jackson 5 and many more others.
It was a cold, bleak morning in early 1999 when we laid to rest our brother Nick. He was 21 years old and the youngest of my parents' seven children. That day, as well as those before and after, are still a blur with only fleeting moments of clarity. I remember leaving the cemetery in the funeral car with our oldest sister, Theresa, my older brothers Timmy and Eric and younger brothers Brady and Scott - the six of us were our brother's pallbearers. On the slow ride back, there was a lull of silence. After a few moments, Theresa asked the driver - a man in his mid-60s - if he could put on some soft music to break the awkward silence. Those first few familiar notes brought a moment of joy to our hearts, and smiles interspersed with tears . It was a family favorite that had been played to infinity on the big Magnavox hi-fi in our living room. It was one of Nick's favorites as well and he'd get excited when it was played during a well-known scene in one of his favorite movies, Boyz N The Hood. It was part of the soundtrack of our family's life together. God bless Clarence and Betty Burke for giving the world those six special children who recorded a song that touches the souls of all those who hear it and instills hope in the most disconsolate of circumstances. And a special thanks to that funeral driver, Mr. Villani, who laid the first stepping stone on the road to healing for six heartbroken siblings.
I'm going through a rough time mentally. While in the bathroom I heard the Holy Spirit sing this song to me. I was familiar with the hook of the song, but wanted to hear it online fully. I trust you Lord that "someday things will get easier/brighter!" Thank you Jesus 💖💖💖
Going through the many comments and I see a lot of people have gone through a lot in life. Loosing parents, dealing with depression and a lot of sadness. This song has seen people through. This is music made by the Angels to heal the wounded souls. May you all be comforted...
my mom used to sing this to me, i still cry everytime i sing it. life is soooo hard at times, and feels overwhelming-this song is a reminder that ‘this too shall pass’ and keep your head up, never give up.
This song is a "go to song" for me when ever the negative thoughts start permeating my head. I use it like a calling card from all my deceased family and friends....as if they are singing it to me. Like a message from God. Sometimes you just can't see through the fog. And I envision sunny days and better times upon hearing this. If only for a few moments....im free of the doldrums of life. Amen
My cat I got from the shelter in Philly died today of heart failure. This was our song together during her final days with me. I mourned and weeped on her cage afterwards while letting this song go off on my phone. For some reason this track always touched a nerve with me every time I hear it. Music is amazing.

I have a story with this song which I will never forget. A few months ago we were in the farmers' and artisans' market in Durham, NC. We were in a store with music playing in the background. We went up to the counter to pay for an item. The man behind the counter was looking down. Just then, the intro to this song came on and when the intro ended, I turned to my wife and started to sing the words. At that moment, the man behind the counter, still looking down started to sing as well. When he heard me singing, he looked up with the biggest smile on his face.. He reached out to me with a big handshake and an even bigger smile. It was such a simple moment but there was a magic in it that can only come about with a great song. Now, every time I hear the song I think of the power music has to bring people together.
A never ending song. It was originally meant for the boys in the Vietnam war. For them to get through that time. It saved my brother who was there. I love and feel this song in my heart every time I hear it
No matter the persecution, turmoil, pain and strife…Black people have always found a way to make uplifting & hopeful music that has stood the test of time. I love that about us 🖤
Blacks aren't the only ones to be enslaved. The Jewish have been since the inception of humans and still are today. They built the Pyramids under control of Pharaoh and Egypt. Look up the "Valley of the Kings" and most everyone has sine of every "color" in their lineage. God says He made us all in His image and there are only two kinds of people. Saved and Lost. Romans 10-9 >
God got you, after 18 years of marriage my husband cheated on me and told me he wanted a divorce, But to God be the Glory, his leaving just cleared the way for my God-ordained Husband to God be the Glory.😊

I grew up with a single mother, until I was 18. So I understand. I turned out pretty good if I can say so myself. I also was helped being raised by my grandfather.
I get chills when I hear this song or snippets of it. The song has such deep meaning to me. My dad died in June 1970 when I was 15 yrs old. I remember that this song was playing all the time on the radio that summer after it came out. The words and feeling of the song comforted me then and when I hear it now, it still does. It brings me back to that summer and everything that was happening in the world at that time, as well as the emotions and what was going on in my own life. I didn't remember the name of the band who sang it but their version, which was the first, is unmistakeable. I know every beat, every note, and every second of it like it was 1970. It evokes a warmth and comfort in my soul and will until I die. I thank the songwriter and this group whose version is ingrained in my brain, for this very special song. ❤
Listening to this after forgiving someone that destroyed my self esteem, self worth, and sent me into a crippling 3 year depression. I had vowed to never forgive this person that I dearly loved and trusted. I forgave her last night in person. The hate and despair have left me I came here for this song tonight. Things will get brighter. And if you need to forgive someone, do it and give yourself some peace.
The most powerful lesson one learns is this life is the transformational practice of forgiveness! Yeah!! You!! for finding your way through to that place -- where you can "walk in the rays of a beautiful sun'"!
Growing up in the seventies, life for me was difficult, bordering tragic. When I'd hear this song on the radio, somehow I felt hopeful a new and better day might come. Thank you, Five Stairsteps, for leading me through the darkness. With love and respect, always.
What a timeless song I remember being 5 yrs old back in 1974 running through the fields in my small town in Easton Massachusetts no shirt on no care in the world. Living careless living free and then going to prison for 27 years and this song is what got me through all the solitude and miserable conditions and things did get better. I got out worked my butt off met I wonderful woman and we built a house together. This song not only saved my sanity it saved my life.
After living through the hard times of the last couple years, this song took on a whole new meaning. I felt God was conveying a message through this song. Later that evening my daughter confirmed my thoughts. She said she heard this song a month ago, and thought of me. This message is for everyone who trusts in the Lord.
In my top ten songs. For some reason, I always envision Heaven when hearing this song. Songs that brought us together. Not songs that separate each from the other.
An early 20s lady was sobbing, swearing, and screaming in emotional anguish over repeated car trouble in the apartment complex parking lot for well over 5 minutes. I’m not able to help directly with any of that. I played this song in the open window twice, and by halfway through the second time, she quieted and went inside. Coincidence? Maybe. I choose to think it helped. 💜
This is one of the songs that kept me going when I was on a tracheotomy and ventilator back in 2010. I just thought of this when things got bad. I am thankful to be alive, due to the Higher Power and the medical professionals that took care of me!
I was 13 yrs old when this song came out. The first time I heard it it made me cry, not out of sadness but from the realization that there was hope for the future that humanity was going to raise its head and there would be more peace and love and harmony boy was I delusional back then!!!
Some of the best music ever made was in the 70's... Funk, Soul, the birth of Punk, Disco, Prog Rock, -- everything was going through a revolution and all modern genres of music have their roots in this decade (Rap, trance, house, modern R&B, etc). This was also the era when music went from mono on AM radio to steero FM, electronic music and synthesisers came into use, the birth of the concept album and mega concerts... It really is the one decade (if you pad a couple of years on either side) that has the biggest creative explosion seen in a long time... Classic soul is probably my top jam.
I'm 15 and I listen to more old music than the 70's. For me a lot of the songs starting from 50's/60's to around the 90's or 00's are great, and sometimes even likes 20's or 30's

Villani, who laid the first stepping stone on the road to healing for six heartbroken siblings.
oh wow..

This is a song I grew up on and I am still LOVING it playing it in 2024 so many many awesome memories listening to this.
I'm going through a rough time mentally. While in the bathroom I heard the Holy Spirit sing this song to me. I was familiar with the hook of the song, but wanted to hear it online fully. I trust you Lord that "someday things will get easier/brighter!" Thank you Jesus 💖💖💖
amen sister. God bless you

It will keep pushing on
Going through the many comments and I see a lot of people have gone through a lot in life.
We need more songs like this one to move on ❤ wherever you are on this Earth, never lose the Hope for a better tomorrow. Love will never die. 🌟♾️

This is a wonderful song.
Oh this song is such a warm hug!
This song literally saved the galaxy!
Listen to these words....
NOW BRING IT DOWN HARD!!!

One of the greatest songs of the 60s! Absolutely beautiful!
Actually, it was released in 1970.
The Five Stairsteps phenomenonal soul group in the world.
A never ending song. It was originally meant for the boys in the Vietnam war. For them to get through that time. It saved my brother who was there. I love and feel this song in my heart every time I hear it
I never knew that.
Great comment.

No matter the persecution, turmoil, pain and strife…Black people have always found a way to make uplifting & hopeful music that has stood the test of time. I love that about us 🖤
Yea until gangster rap ruined an entire generation of children
Like Sly Stone
Blacks aren't the only ones to be enslaved. The Jewish have been since the inception of humans and still are today. They built the Pyramids under control of Pharaoh and Egypt. Look up the "Valley of the Kings" and most everyone has sine of every "color" in their lineage. God says He made us all in His image and there are only two kinds of people. Saved and Lost. Romans 10-9 >

This song will allways remind of boyz'n hood😎
Listening to this after forgiving someone that destroyed my self esteem, self worth, and sent me into a crippling 3 year depression. I had vowed to never forgive this person that I dearly loved and trusted. I forgave her last night in person. The hate and despair have left me I came here for this song tonight. Things will get brighter. And if you need to forgive someone, do it and give yourself some peace.
If you forgive, all this will disappear-A COURSE IN MIRACLES
The most powerful lesson one learns is this life is the transformational practice of forgiveness! Yeah!! You!! for finding your way through to that place -- where you can "walk in the rays of a beautiful sun'"!
I needed this ❤️
You are 100 percent right.
Listen to war wats it good for rush hour 2

Growing up in the seventies, life for me was difficult, bordering tragic. When I'd hear this song on the radio, somehow I felt hopeful a new and better day might come. Thank you, Five Stairsteps, for leading me through the darkness. With love and respect, always.
I tell my children to listen to this song, as a gentle reminder that things will get brighter

THE BEST SONG IN THE WORLD.
In my top ten songs. For some reason, I always envision Heaven when hearing this song. Songs that brought us together. Not songs that separate each from the other.
Evertime I hear this song I shed a tear 💯
Every time yes.
Awesome song best era ever will never be the same ❤😊
This song is the ultimate message to all the future generations of tomorrow. Keep this song alive.
"keep ya head up". ~ Tupac Shakur
RIP Legend 1972-1996
You’re listening to this 51 years after it was released and you’re still loving to it.
This is one of the songs that kept me going when I was on a tracheotomy and ventilator back in 2010. I just thought of this when things got bad. I am thankful to be alive, due to the Higher Power and the medical professionals that took care of me!

@that Mexican potato: you are correct, and it is also unlistenable, soulless shit. This song is perfect.
I was 13 yrs old when this song came out. The first time I heard it it made me cry, not out of sadness but from the realization that there was hope for the future that humanity was going to raise its head and there would be more peace and love and harmony boy was I delusional back then!!!
Tupac song brought me here. His song called Keep your head up. This is a great song for any generation. Thank you 5 stairsteps.
This has been my favourite since I first heard it in 1970!
My dad recently passed. I’d like to think he is saying these lyrics to me when I’m struggling
A gift to all people... Never give up
I’m 20 years old and I love this old 70’s music!
That's great we need more young people to start listen to good meaningful music
You have a good taste, dude!
I think the 70s was awesome, they had good music and good tv shows and no social media.
This comment coming from a 15 year old
I Was born In 1981 And Here I Am On 8/31/23 And 42 Years Later And Im Still jamming To This And This Is Always Been A Classic
