I CAN HEAR THE BELLS
RassilonTDavros ME TOO!
RassilonTDavros I can
Uh oh. Is this Deadly Towers?
They're meant to be chimes, not bells.

the FDS's extra wavetable synth channel was such a cool feature adding semi-realistic instruments to the regular famicom/nes' iconic 8 bit square/sawtooth/triangle/noise channels.
The NES didn’t have a Sawtooth wave
@@LunaTheStars oops, i think i confused it with another console/computer haha
you are correct; the nes only had square/pulse wave, triangle wave, noise, and pcm.
@@LunaTheStars Well it did if you were playing a game that used Konami's VRC6 chip.
So that mobile people can more easily go back to the beginning of the songs

Thanks
Nick Story would like your comment but it has *_69_* so sorry 😉🙃
You are a good man
Thank you
Thank you 😊
....Those bells...wow....
Yeah, the FDS added an extra sound channel that the Famicom/NES hardware didn't normally have. This is why the cartridge version sounds different, it had to be developed without the extra sound channel in mind. Although, amusingly enough, in some cartridges (even US versions), the support for the extra sound channel is still present in the code and will work if the extra channel is detected (much like support for the FM synthesizer in Master System games). Obviously for US versions this is only going to happen via emulation since the FDS wasn't released here. But yeah it's amazing how much better they sound.
Kono dio da
So weird listening to the parts that aren't in the US version after 15+ years of playing the original US version and never having any other way of knowing it
And then the people of Japan grew up with this version just like I grew up with the NES one
The NES version was also released in Japan
kuja45 (OST) Huh, that seems kinda backwards...
Madmagicanman1 Well, I mean, I'm sure some people couldn't afford a FDS, so it makes sense to release both I guess.
Tael the Mask Salesman I suppose you're right
*****
Oh, that's how they did it? I thought they were released side by side. Interesting.
Holy shit this sounds sooo much better than the NES cartridge version. Amazing what tech could do at the time!
FlameLFH What a wonder extra hardware can do for old systems.
There’s differences in 4 of the songs and most of the sound effects, that’s not that many differences and if the nes had a bit more memory to work with then there would probably be even fewer differences
It is all within the power of the Famicom Disk System's extra sound layer.
>amazing what tech could do at the time
Classic Nintendo staple
still not worth it for the annoying loading times this version had :/
It’s amazing how much of a difference 2 extra audio tracks can make
There's only one, actually.
It's actually one single additional wavetable and not two.
6:12 The most victorious fart you'll ever hear.
Compared to other things an FM chip can make, this sounds nothing like a fart. You want to know what does? DOOM 32X.
@@solarflare9078 Well for one thing this isn't FM
Ganon farts so hard he explodes.
@@solarflare9078True
@CODMarioWarfare it had FM actually
Love the labyrinth theme. Such a great and eery piece that perfectly suits this game's dungeons.
Beautiful music. I appreciate it more now than ever.
Having grown up with the US version, it's interesting to hear the differences in the original FDS version. Hard to say that I like either version better than the other, but I do really like the different opening and the rest is really interesting. Thanks for uploading this.
You should try the deep purple version.ua-cam.com/video/yV8e_RkpiNA/v-deo.htmlsi=np-pKS4ZuVuUBAb_
The Zelda games are a big reason I want a Disk System. I've already got a Famicom at least so that's half of the challenge taken care off. The sound on the FDS versions is just so good.
If you have the latest Zelda Game and Watch, there’s an option to play The Legend of Zeldas 1 and 2, with the original Disk System versions in Japanese. As well as “Link’s Awakening” in many different languages.
Title screen music is so beautiful...
I can imagine if Mother was on FDS wow
Gimmick did use channels the console alone isn't able to provide, however, which is why it has one of the craftiest, most beautiful soundtracks on the system.
A bit harsh there eh?

Unfortunately, the age of comments is what people look the least at, so I suggest if you want to maintain a good image, delete the comments you don't identify with anymore.
*****
You can. I do so for mine, rather often.
blara2401 The Sunsoft 5B compared to the 2A07 version of the soundtrack isn't too different.
Wow this whole game only had 10 minutes of music. Unreal to what good effect it was put.
Awesome, and well organized!
6:12: Zelda Rescued
This technology is revolutionary, can't wait to play botw 2 on FDS
06:12 For some reason that made me laugh. xD
06:12 for intense victory fart
*Wild Charizard Appeared*
it sounds like Boss Canon's screaming
Ganon- *fart*
Ripping a huge one.
amazing !!!
Amazing
So this is what the soundtrack was meant to be
Wow this reminds of how FM was on Mark III...
The legend started from here.

The Disk System's sound chip makes the music more realistic.
I love the opening.
I wish I had listened to THAT opening theme when I first played tha game!
This sounds so sick. Just showed my sister and she was speechless
Man this is so much better. I can here the midde aged Americans screaming for missing out on this. Its amazing.
YAY!!!!
I always thought the Ending Music could just as well be from a Super Mario game (Both composed by Koji Kondo)
It's got syncopation like Mario music
Nintendo were good with the NES with sound programming...
But give them an FM chip and they can kick it up to the next level!
Have you ever heard the Lagrange Point soundtrack for the Famicom? The cartridge actually included a Konami VRC7 audio chip that had similar FM capabilities to the likes of the Yamaha OPL3, and the music for that game sounded absolutely INCREDIBLE. It's actually hard to believe that those sounds are coming out of a Famicom. Unfortunately, it was the only game ever released that featured this chip.
The nostalgia.
8:49 re-used on ocarina of time
8:49 sounds surprinsly realistic
8:50: Stage Start
BETTER THAN NES.
OPINONS.
OKAY
extra channel of sound vs not having an extra channel of sound or load times
@@SamuraiTacos1 the load times are not longer then 20sec so im ok with it
@@kyugiyeneku1803 same
Man it's nuts what one extra voice can do
Never realized how Tower of Druaga-esque some of the sound effects are. Makes sense, considering that game was HUGE in Japan and undeniably served as an inspiration for Zelda (Wizzrobe behaves exactly like the wizards in Druaga)
Once english patches starting coming out for a multitude of FDS roms, I left NES behind! The audio makes such a difference!
Time to pop out my Olympus Digital Voice Recorder.
The main in-game songs are mostly the same, it's really the intro, game over, ending and sound fx or voice clips that really stand out the most.
Wow, the gameover music is the same as the ending, never noticed that before.
The Famicom Disk System added an extra sound channel...Zelda and Metroid took advantage of this...the music had to be redone to convert them to NES cartridge, since they lost that sound channel.
I was under the impression that it was 2 extra channels, but you might be right.
It was one channel. Nintendo used it mostly for sound effects, but they used it for in game tracks when there was no action going on from the player (ie. Theme songs and ending themes). Squaresoft (ie. 3d world runner) and Konami (ie. Castlevania 2, Gyruss) used the FDS channel for the music
Famicom Disk System sound chip: Ricoh RP2C33 ------------------ it sounds like Wavetabled-FM analog synth feeling, fat & rich. which PC & NES could not emulate it.
The Ricoh RP2C33, used by the Famicom Disk System, adds one extra sound channel with primitive wavetable support. FDS Produces waves using 64 × 64 custom wavetables with 33 volume settings.
Although the latest FamiTracker version supports volume envelopes that go all the way up to 32, the volume column in the pattern editor will max out at 0x0F.
6:12 That scared the crap out of me! (headphones)

8BitDanooct1 Very true.
Parodius number 1. Gradius number 2.
Danooct1 is #2. Not only does he play with computer viruses but also makes remixes!

I really prefer the Opening on this version! :o

1 part came here to see about the music
1 part came here to see how many grumps fans bombarded the comments like me ha
C.L. Cannon Thanks Arin!!! Lol

Ty @gamegrumps
I wonder what the overworld theme would sound with that extra channel from the title
As an American 40 yo who played Zelda in the year it originally was released, I definitely prefer the FDS music.
the hyrule fantasy
We all came for the title
I really want to play this version just for the music. But the Overworld doesn't seem different.
Try Famicom Mini, it has the Disk System soundfont.
Overworld isn't different because some sound effects (such as the sword beam) are instead what use the extra sound channel. This is pretty common. (edited for clarity)
They are different music files. I just commented on the fact that the Overworld is the same on both versions.
FM is AWESOME, but on emulation, it's just an SF2-ish file.
the ice cream truck jingle
A lot of people don't know that the FDS version of "Legend of Zelda" is the OG version. Not the Nes.
This version was the way the game was meant to be played alongside the FDS versions of Metroid, Castlevania 1 and 2, Pro Wrestling, Kid Icarus, and Super Mario Bros.
Even the graphics in the FDS version compared to the NES versions are way better.
Labyrinth music is creepy
Some music sounds the same as the NES version.
To compensate the sound effects don’t interrupt the music.
UAUUUU😁😂😄😆☺
There is no way in hell Koji Kondo came up with the opening song in one night. It's a godly feat if he did.
Well, like the interview said, he took the already existing Overworld music and reworked it into the opening song
It's weird how in the famicom version Link's hurt sound is deeper and more clear lol
Is there a mashup of the NES and FDS versions of this game's title screen?
ua-cam.com/video/YuKmBZb3af0/v-deo.html yeah its right here
Mantap Command balik ya
